The Good Ole Freap Chat ~ Sequel Part III ~

Morning Freaps,

I have only 2 days left till our trip. I did make the dress! Without a pattern and it looks good...well..ok.

Great dress!!!!!!!- you did an incredible job!!!!

Is that you with the skinny little butt in the last pic!? Just asking b/c I am jealous!:lmao:

Which vampire book are you reading???- There is a True Blood thread over on the CB, have you seen it?

Thanks Madd and NATALIEBELLESmom for looking at my dress. I have been working a day each weekend for two months and didn't work on my dress very much as on my day off I was with DS while DH worked on cars, boats, etc. So this was after about 5 trials and then the final. Yes it is me cutting on the living room floor. That was dress #3 in sheets.

Thanks for saying my behind is small because it is causing a lot of trouble getting into this dress!!!!!

I am reading Stephanie Meyer series with Bella, Alice, etc. Right now they are worried about getting killed because of the half vampire/human baby. I want to finish before we leave but don't know with the house work and work.

When I return I will be out of job and I have found that I really enjoy reading for pleasure. I hope the library will keep up with me. The next book I want is the 19th Wife. It will be very hard to get in this state.

I find it hard to believe you can't fit that butt into anything:lmao: :rotfl2: I am sure you will look wonderful! We want pics!

Someone over on the True Blood thread said in last nights episode, there was a newspaper on a table in the show and it says "Angelina Jolie adopts Vampire Baby":lmao: :rotfl2:

I DVRd the episode- I will have to watch it tonight!

I am confused, why would you not be able to get a book in your state??:confused3 (What state are you in?)

Theresa-

Back when I was craving banana bread I got this recipe from a fellow DISer... and let me say it is THE BEST banana bread I had ever tasted. We literally went through 3 loafs!

INGREDIENTS
1/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 cup butter
3 cups white sugar
3 eggs
6 very ripe bananas, mashed
1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons baking soda
4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Grease four 7x3 inch loaf pans. In a small bowl, stir together 1/4 cup white sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Dust pans lightly with cinnamon and sugar mixture.
In a large bowl, cream butter and 3 cups sugar. Mix in eggs, mashed bananas, sour cream, vanilla and cinnamon. Mix in salt, baking soda and flour. Stir in nuts. Divide into prepared pans.
Bake for 1 hour, until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Oh my that sounds sinful! I want it now. If we weren't leaving I would make it.

In the western states LDS or being Mormon is very common. My community is to the extreme. It makes being Catholic interesting. The library just won't carry certain books. But I can make an interstate library loan and they are already use to me asking for books on the "forbidden" list.

I will wear the costume to MNSSHP on the 23rd and send pictures.

What perfect timing!!! I have nana's that I need to use & was going to make bread tonight :thumbsup2 Looks like I'll be adding sour cream to my list of things to get after work this afternoon!

.

Oh for the love of Pete, you poor thing

I thought you were going to say you lived in a small town in Alaska:rolleyes1

/
MVM-love the dress! I think you did an awesome job.:thumbsup2 Hopefully, you can find some good books when you return. I've never lived in an area like that but did spend a lot of time in Utah on fires in the 90's. I remember having to watch everything we said when in camp because, apparently the LDS frown on "colorful" language.:lmao: And I am the Queen of Colorful Language. I also remember travelling through Utah with DH once and we stopped to eat somewhere. Now I am from a state where most of the counties are dry so I'm used to not having my booze at restaurants. Well, this restaurant had advertisements for booze but when we tried to order a drink they said we had to join a club or something to be able to purchase a drink.:confused3 That was so odd.

Yep, I love colour in my language but having a little guy around keeps my mouth minty fresh and clean:rotfl:

What fires did you fight in the 90's? Oh my heck, if I can even remember that long ago.

I just got done living in Utah for 9 months and they almost seem normal compared to my area..if possible:scared1: They have some of the best mountains in Utah and I don't mind living in a place where crime is low and no one hardly swears. I just cracked up when I went into the grocery store after work with a spaghetti top and skirt above my knee. The women were burning my skin with their looks.

We ladies, I want to stay and play but now that I have shampooed the carpet, cleaned the little guys room, dusted, did floor, bathrooms, etc. I get to go to work.

All that is left for tomorrow is payroll 1st thing in the morning and then cleaning the kitchen and master bedroom for the afternoon/evening.

Then to DISNEY!!:yay: :woohoo:

Hey Freaps,
Maggie you are back. How was your trip? Any pictures?
Minnie Van mom I hope you have fun on your trip. I saw the dress it looks great.

If they had low property taxes- I would wash my OWN mouth out with soap:lmao: I would keep a bar in my handbag:lmao:

I do not think I would ever be able to leave the East Coast though- I love my coast:worship:

OMG- Have fun in Disney! My heart just did a little excited flip flop for you!:dance3:

QUESTION TO ALL FREAPS!

I am trying to remember the name of someone- he is a Raw Food Chef- I saw him on TV a few times years ago, he had long blonde hair, kept it in a bun-like knot- kind of looked like a girl- not b/c of his long hair- he just had a very very slim body and looked a little femme. (Nothing wrong with that- but that is how I remember him) He really stood out.

I am Googling like crazy and cannot find this dude- the reason I am asking is, DH is "detoxing" I thought I would go online and get some recipes for him instead of just him eating a bunch of organic raw veggies- I would find some exciting yummy recipes. I just made him a salad dressing of (all organic- of course  ) shallots, fresh lime juice, organic olive oil and the Bragg's raw apple cider vinegar. It had a bit of a bitter taste so I threw it all in the blender with a carrot and it mellowed it out a bit.

I know I can find recipes by other Raw Food chefs, but I am now on a mission to find this guy!!

I might have to take this question over to the CB if my freaps do not know:scared:

I saved this one. I have a big baggie of ripe bananas in the freezer just waiting to become a loaf of banana bread. I have a good recipe, but I looked it up and it does call for shortening. Try subbing up to 1/2 cup of the shortening with apple sauce. It works well and it makes the bread nice and moist--I do it in cake and muffin recipes, too. (If you make a double batch, use 1/2 cup shortening and 1/2 cup applesauce.)

1 C. Raisins
1/4 C. Water
1/2 C. Shortening (can sub. 1/2 C. applesauce)
1 C. sugar
1/2 C Brown Sugar
1 Egg
1 C. mashed banana
2 1/3 C All-purpose Flour
1/3 tsp. Baking Soda
2 tsp. Baking Powder
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/2 C Nuts, chopped fine (optional)

Cook raisins in water until plump (I put 'em in the micro for a minute or two)

Blend shortening/sugars; beat in egg. Add bananas. Sift flour, slat, soda, baking powder together then ad to banana mixture. Add nuts & raisins. Miisx only until moistened. pack into 2 greased 7.5 X 3.5 loaf pans or one 9 x 5 pan @ 325 for 1 hour(small pans) or 1 hour 10 minutes(large pan). Test for doneness.

To all of you making banana bread- remember to fit the rum in there somewhere!

Maybe soak the raisins in Rum!!!!!?

Welcome back maggi!! Bring on the photos!

madd-I know who you are talking about but I can't remember his name.:confused3 I have never done many "raw" food recipes. I'm sure you've looked at the "Vegetarian Times" site. Maybe "Yoga Journal" would have some as well.:confused3 If I think of anyplace else to look, I'll let you know.

Marna- I have not checked yet- I was on a mission yesterday to find out who this raw food dude was- I will go and check around though.

DH has even given up COFFEE! He had the most wicked headache all day yesterday. Not sure how he is doing today.

Madd was his first name Daniel?

Kellie- I Googled Raw Food Daniel and none of the Daniels I saw pics of look like this guy. (I saw a pic of Daniel Vitalis- and that is not him either)

This is really odd!
