The Golf Cart Thread

I would love to paint mine but I don't know how well the plastic will hold the paint.

if you just want it black I paid $300 for the body on my cart and it was a brand new body still in the shrink wrap. Real club car body also the black goes all the way through so if it gets scratched it's still black.

daddyscooltv is 100% correct...its just as cheap to by a new body cast in black as it would be to get a professional looking black paint job. Black is the hardest color to paint because it shows every little imperfection that happens durint the painting process. Google "golf cart body" or "bodies"...you'll find them, just as stated above, right at $300 and well worth it.

Ive never heard of not being able to lift a cart regardless of brand. granted...it may take a little more torque to turn the bigger tires...but unless you actually using and abusing this cart offroad...I seriously doubt you'll notice much of a difference. Send a PM to "Tungpo1" and ask his opinion...he may suggest a new controller...but it most certainly can be done without spending what your salesman wants to rape you for with a new cart.

Taz....the paint looks good man! Unique!

Wow, that's a great idea. I never thought of that. I'm going to definitely look into this and I like the fact that the color goes all the way through. Thank you.

Rog, I'll PM Tungpo1. The more info I can give hubby the better.

Thanks guys.

This is our cart, a friend at work sold it to us for $900, with new batteries and cables. I painted the gold trim, at my DW insistence. I am going to buy a new body, solid black....and lift it. I ride a harley at work all day and was thinking of doing something with a H/D theme?

This tag explains why the cart is gold/garnet....I admit my wife is the boss, but she makes sure beer is always in the house.:worship:

The guy is sort of right, anytime lifting a electric cart you should at least upgrade your controller and wires as seen in pic below. After lifting a electric cart you risk the chance of blowing the controller but otherwise it will be fine.

A star golf cart is just a ez-go knock-off (but they are 48Volt)

WOW, looking at this picture, I am mostly amazed at how NEAT your GARAGE is!! Congrats.

Also, being a Seminole myself, I am delighted to hear that your wife is the boss and made you paint the trim out in gold. Now there is a true Nole.:hippie:

I'm bored so here is some cart pics LOL

This is why DW makes me take little pills for my OCD!!

I like the lifted look but my top clears the door by about 3" now so that is out of the question unless I decide to chop the top.

We built a convertible top for my dads cart. Or you could do a air bag lift so you could lower it to load it.

Here is a pic of the cart me and my dad did for him. The rack on the back is to haul his ECV. The top on the cart is a convertible that we built so it could fit under the cabinet in my toy hauler.

Here is a pic of my dads cart

A convertible top would be cool but I have my stereo and speakers mounted in the top. If I had a way to make new aluminum posts I might try lowering the top.
Wouldn't the tires rub if you let the air out to loat it?

On my yamaha's you could lower the cart 2 or 3 inches and still go straight just no turning. That's why I was thinking air bags. When making my dads top we took 6 inches out of the aluminum front post's.

I spoke with a guy today that all he does is rebuild golf carts for a living. We are going to see him tomorrow. He quoted me approximately $700 to upgrade our controller, $450 to paint and approx. $700 for the lift kit (with tires) the tires I pick will determine that price.

He also said we can wait on the controller upgrade and if we aren't happy with the performance then we can always bring it back and he will upgrade it. Do you suggest we just do the upgrade now?

I can't wait to post my before and after pictures!!!

Thank you all for your advice.

I think the misconception comes from the fact that you use iTunes (the software) to load music onto the iPod, but you don't HAVE to buy music from the iTunes Store to load to your iPod. You can import any music into iTunes to sync to the iPod.

That's how I did mine. I converted my CD's to MP3, downloaded to my iPod thru iTunes. No charge involved.:thumbsup2

Tungpo...if youre reading this...do those prices seem high to you? I guess this is why I prefer to do any work myself. And $450 for a straight black paint job? No flames? No custom designs? Really? Holy Moly!!!!

$450 it not that bad as long as he removing the body painting it and re-installing it (Make sure he color sands the clear to get out all the orange peel).$700 for a lift kit tires and installation is not bad either long as its not too cheap of a lift. Aslo make sure you get heavy duty leafs put on if your lifting it and using a rear seat. The price of the controller sounds fishy find out the controller make and the amperage, also get at least 4 gauge wire to dissipate the heat.
