Day 2

It is NOISY here at the Yacht Club! We wake up at 6:30am when our neighbors kids start screaming at each other. They sound older than Dreu so there’s really no excuse for it. On top of that the mother and father fight about eating in the room. There are kids running down the hall and doors slamming everywhere. At 7am the boat horns start their day and at 7:45am housekeeping knocks on our door. We give up any hope of sleeping in and get up and get ready for IOA.

We are moving slowly but we’re off! We stop at Waffle House for breakfast. Ron just loves this place. I’m not sure why, lol. The food is decent and all but I always feel like I need a shower after eating in these restaurants, he says it’s just me : P. Men ; ).

We valet park at IOA, we will be so thankful later! We buy a 2 day pass at the gate because we’re doing Universal on Tuesday. My first thought about IOA is WOW this looks fun! The theming is great, very fun.

We hit Seuss Landing first. Dreu deems this area babyfied so the only thing we ride is The Cat In The Hat. Fun! Kind of zippy for that kind of ride.

The Lost Continent theming is AWESOME. Ron is in love and wants to move in, lol. He is into all that stuff. There is only a 10 minute wait for Poseidon’s Fury so we do that first. It’s worth doing this just to walk through the building. The show isn’t much to talk about but the building is cool. After this we head to The Flying Unicorn. Thumbs down from all of us, nothing to this ride it just goes around and around. Probably a fun coaster for the tiny kids. Dreu wants to do Dueling Dragons but he’s not tall enough so he was bummed.

Jurassic Park is the only section we were disappointed with. It could have been so much cooler. I was thinking there would be a dinosaur or two for decoration while walking through. Really nothing visually stimulating here for us. We did the Jurassic Park River Adventure. Is it just us or are there less dinosaurs and a shorter ride here than at the one in CA? We enjoyed the drop! Dreu wanted to ride the Pteranodon Flyers but the wait was 45 minutes, YIKES. Nothing else had a wait ! We do the Discovery Center, we enjoyed the game show the most in here. Triceratops Encounter... eh. I liked looking at the dinosaur but other than that there was nothing else going on and it was a long walk.

We take a break for lunch at Mythos. Cool place to eat, Ron especially enjoyed the inside. I had the lobster bisque and a caesar salad, Dreu had a caesar salad and a milkshake, Ron had a wrap and milkshake. Everything was delicious and we had a great seat by the window.

Marvel Super Hero Island is another favorite of Ron’s. He has a huge collection of comic books from when he was a kid and Fantastic Four are his favorites I think. (I know nothing about this stuff) Dreu loves all the decorations too. We go on the Storm Force Accelatron first. Ron bails on us ( he turns green on these things, lol) so Dreu and I get to go by ourselves, just as well because this way we get to spin and spin :). We head over to Spiderman, boy they really hide the lines over here and in toon lagoon! We waited about 30 minutes but it was worth it! This was definitely everyones favorite ride! Having the car move like a ride really made the experience! Dreu isn’t tall enough to ride the Hulk Coaster or the Fearfall, though he’s only off by about 1/4” on the Fearfall. We do a lot of shopping then discover Dreu left his Palm somewhere. We panic and do the parental yelling, lecturing and so on while we try to figure out where it is. Turns out it’s at Mythos, he got lucky it was still there!

Toon Lagoon is great. We rode the Ripsaw Falls and Barges, we got SOAKED. We were also FREEZING! I think we like the barges best, it’s wicked for that type of ride! Dreu and Ron agree that Ripsaw Falls beats Splash Mountain hands down. We do the Barges a second time because there is no wait . After that we walk VERY quickly to the car because we were dripping and cold!

We were so glad we parked valet because we couldn’t stand to walk one bit further! It was a very fun day and we really like IOA, it is now on our favorites list. Since Dreu is 8 we enjoyed a break from all the little kids at Disney. Very few strollers and little kids here today. Overall the crowd was very light and we didn’t have much of a wait for anything.

Back at the YC we get into sweats, hang up our wet clothes and head to the Galley for dinner. The menu here is kind of limited but the food was GREAT! Ron had the beef stew in a bread bowl and deemed it wonderful, I had the beer batter fish which was great and Dreu had the cheeseburger. We had the BEST service here. Our waiter was attentive, we had refills before our glasses were empty and our waiter remembered every thing I asked for! Very good experience here!

We head back to the room to relax before bed. The Dance Hall is a hopping place. Dreu jams to Ricky Martin and a few other songs they’re playing over there. We go to bed and fall asleep to the music and noise from the boardwalk. I love keeping the drapes open while I fall asleep, the lights really pretty.

Tomorrow is Pirate Cruise and GF Spa!

IOA is definitely worth the trip as is Universal. Especially if you have kids that are older. We really like how the parks are close together too, makes park hopping easy! Anyhow the theming is really worth going at least once, it's great!
