James Franco Heads Back to General Hospital

James Franco couldn't be cooler — and hotter — these days. The guy has earned the reviews of a lifetime for his performance in 127 Hours. He's considered a shoo-in Academy Award nominee for best actor. And he and Anne Hathaway have been picked to co-host the Oscar ceremony on Sunday, February 27. But he's not forgetting about General Hospital! Franco, who twice appeared on the ABC soap as a serial killer, has agreed to return for a two-episode stint airing the Friday before the Oscar telecast and the day after. It'll serve as a teaser for a longer story arc he plans to do on the serial later in 2011.

Credit the coup to GH executive producer Jill Farren Phelps. "When we realized James would be in L.A. for the Oscars and all the other awards shows, we asked if he'd consider coming back and doing a little something for us," Phelps says. "He was happy to do it and requested that we use the appearance to plug his next story. He's also expressed an interest in directing at GH. He's been really, really good to us. Whatever James wants, we'd love to make it happen!"

So far details on Franco's February gig are slim — Phelps will only say that his psychopath character, also named Franco, is still obsessed with hunky mob hitman Jason Morgan (Steve Burton). "Franco will remind Jason and the audience that he's still out there. We just haven't seen or heard from him because he's been terribly busy."

In an interview with TV Guide Magazine last summer, Franco said the intense memorization required at GH prepared him for his 127 Hours audition, in which director Danny Boyle handed him a lengthy monologue and asked him to step outside for a few minutes and learn it. "James has been very gracious in crediting us," notes Phelps. "Apparently, we worked his memorization muscle to the point where he was able to blow Boyle out of the water."

Mutual love affair aside, it's rather stunning that Franco — who is being inundated with movie offers these days — still has a jones for GH. "The more you get to know James the less surprised you are about what excites him," Phelps says. "He is fearless about doing what he wants to do. I guess he must feel there's still something to learn here at GH. Maybe he's just doing it for the fun." Adds the exec with a laugh: "He certainly isn't doing our show for the money!"

Well that is cool! I just saw James on the show Inside the Actors Studio and they didn't mention one thing about his being on GH. Oh and did you know that Rabbit's are his turn on? LOL

Not looking forward to another round of Franco. Love James Franco, but the character he plays is so unbelievable and skeevy. There is no point to this.

Sneak Peek Week of December 13 (Hot Sheet)

**Jerry Jacks makes threats on both Brenda AND Carly -- hey look, they have something ELSE in common! Actually, Brenda does open up to Carly about the Balkan's son -- and no, they are not in a parallel timeline. But Jerry's still coming after them. Look for Jason and Dante and Lucky to make a move against Jerry this week.

Also, the menace facing Port Charles gets a face this week. Yep -- the Balkan's identity is revealed! Who is he (or she)?

Sonny and Brenda's romance is heating up. And after the end of Friday's show … could anything else happen but the two having sex? But Sonny still has to think about keeping Brenda safe. So how's this for shocking: Sonny approaches Jax to take down Jerry together! Would Jax kill Jerry to protect Brenda?

Luke and Tracy's wedding is approaching faster and faster. And the concern on everybody's mind is whether Luke will show! It's time for Team Spencer to mobilize and make sure their dad makes it down the aisle.

Robin's new hospital pal Theo has been a great ally in her war against Lisa. So what's up with him suing the hospital?? Sure, he's not suing Robin, but still. She's got to try to convince him to change his mind. But seriously, what's up with this guy?

All this, plus Carly finally realizes Michael is pretty much dating a stripper, so look for her to get all up in Abby's face about it. And Johnny continues to come through for Lisa for really unexpected reasons.

Absolutely agree with this!

And...i'm probably alone with this, but I like Michael with Abby...

and blah, blah blah with Lisa...enough already, just kick her butt of the darn show.

Nope I'm with you. Hate Franco, love Michael and Abby. Hate Lisa and her crazy.

I wonder all the time why I watch, there is nothing I like. I can't stand Brenda and Sonny. Brenda and that annoying laugh that comes out of no where is on my last nerve. I do like Brenda and Jason but I don't get enough of it.

Sam :crazy2:
Carly :crazy2:

I was liking Lucky and Siobhan but I don't like that she is bad.

Damn. Siobhan is bad.:sad2:
I really think Lucky was inappropriately named. He's got to be the unluckiest guy in soap history. :rolleyes1

Lisa...PLEASE kick this storyline to the curb already. Talk about beating a dead horse. :headache: I'm also starting to remember why it was I was glad when Robin left. The WHINING...Lord, do these women characters ever stop repeating themselves. She's got to be the stupidest doctor ever to have gotten a soap diploma. How can you keep mouthing off looking like an idiot in front of everyone.

I was really looking forward to the Brenda/Sonny reunion. I gotta say though, it's been a very "luke warm" storyline at best. Nothing really to write home about.
Brenda came back a stupid little fragile flower. She's been gone all these years and became a high end (albeit short  ) fashion model who raises money for poor children. Really?.... I'm not seein' it.
OMG... BRENDA! Pull up your big girl panties. Get a back bone! Tell Carly to back off! You're a grown woman, not a teenager. Stop acting like one.
If ol' Sonny boy can't deal with your past, then he isn't the man you thought he was. Stop living in the past.

Carly... she has got to be put in her place.:headache: I hope it's Michael who does it. I hope he isn't manipulated by his mother. I like the idea that he's got a girlfriend. I'd like to see Abby knock Carly down a peg or two. How about Carly spending Christmas alone...bah humbug...I can't stand her.
Mostly, I'd like to see Jason, tell Carly to get a life and put her in her place. Has it been forgotten how and why her character turned up in good ole Port Chuck?

ITA! You said everything I feel.

I'm still not convinced Siobhan is bad -- I'm hoping she's really Interpol, deep under cover...

Is it bad that I was saying, "Yes, yes, yes!" to my screen as I read the previous comments about Lisa, Robin, Carly and Brenda? Can't we have more Maxie? At least she's honest, and she doesn't whine when she causes her own downfalls...

I'm sorry they dropped Brook Lynn and Johnny -- I thought they had great chemistry. Nikolas just seems like a big mess to me, and frankly, he has to be too old for Brook Lynn. Odd that I don't mind Abby with Michael, though...but I also wouldn't mind if they "bridged" each other to more appropriate partners. I really like Abby, and I hope when she becomes a paralegal Diane hires her!

I love Brenda with Jason...we just need them to both get a little drunk and get busy :rotfl:

omg! :rotfl2: I would love to see it, and see their faces in the morning... Ok, but my next vote for "a little drunk and get busy" is Steve and Olivia!

Maria :upsidedow

Yes! Steve needs to get out of that darn hospital!!! And away from jakes too..

Okay if they think that Jerry is the Baulkin, why don't they do a dna test between the Balkin's dead son and Jax?

I'm starting to wonder if Lisa is in cahoots with the guy who is suing the hospital. Since he is suing everyone, but Robin, this will put Patrick and Lisa on the same side and Robin on the outside. It's too weird that he's not suing Robin since she was his primary doctor.
