I think today I have finally realized that the violence against women on this show is getting to me. I really think I'm going to delete it from the DVR after more than 20 years of watching.

It is SICK. Why is this entertaining especially on a show who's primary audience is women.

Carly - attempted strangling, and you know she's gonna miscarry and that is just right now...she's been shot in the head, chained to a wall and kidnapped
Emily - violently murdered
Georgie - violently murdered
Leticia - violently murdered
Elizabeth - raped, now kidnapped
Maxie - attempted strangling
Sam - shot, dead baby, attempted strangling, and now she's being held hostage
Claudia - you KNOW there is going to be some history of abuse there
Kate - shot
Alexis - attempted strangling
Bobbie - not that she is really on these days but didn't she have an abusive husband??
Monica - wasn't she raped at one point?
Robin, Lulu and Nadine are the only ones I can think of that haven't had some horrible violent trauma. And I will say that Robin's HIV and Lulu's abortion were tramatic, just not overly violent. I guess some of the bit characters are 'ok' like Leyla or Lanie but they even made Dr Lee a sex addict.

Wow...when you put it that way, it's pretty bad.

Remember, Leyla was shot, Robin also and Lulu has been taken hostage what is it, 3 times now...

See I DID forget that. Leyla was shot. Robin has been too, the MetroCourt hostage thing. How could I forget that.

How sad is it that you can't even remember the violence.

And that is just current characters.

Sage - murdered
Mary - murdered
Katherine Bell - wasn't she pushed off the cliff and murdered?
Wasn't that girl Ned was married too murdered too???

I also forgot that Emily was also raped.

Brooklynn and Maxie were stalked and drugged. Wasn't Brenda shot? I know she was in the shower attack thing, but was she ever hit? Laura = raped and had that thing with Rick Webber.

GH is on right now and of course Diego is beating Elizabeth.

It is scary and violent.

ETA - now I'm looking at older characters
Alexis' sister Kristina was murdered by bombing
Lilly - blown up in a car bomb
Courtney was held hostage
Felicia was stalked and tortured by Ryan

It's depressing.

Ahh... Remember when soaps were all dreamy storylines about the rich and beautiful people. Couples would drink champagne and dance for no good reason. Lets not forget the love affairs. Now it's death, rape, muggings and hostages. Oh how fun.

MinnieFan4ever, you are 100% correct. When are these writters going to buy a clue????

Maybe we should stage a write-in campaign to ABC re: all the violence toward women? There has to be an organization somewhere that would join in? What do you think?

**'GH's' Nikolas deletes the Text Message Killer
By CAROLYN HINSEY

Friday, February 29th 2008, 4:00 AM

The Text Message Killer tries to kill Elizabeth and Sam today on "General Hospital," but Jason shoots him - and then Nikolas finishes the job.

"Nikolas overpowers Diego with sheer brute strength," says Tyler Christopher (Nikolas) with a laugh. "I guess he's fueled by anger and revenge for Diego having killed Emily."

As viewers know, Diego was revealed to be the dreaded Text Message Killer this week, so now he has to be stopped.

"The fight stuff is actually really good," says Christopher. "We had stunt guys, coordinators, the whole nine."

After Diego is shot, Nikolas and Nadine head for where his body fell to make sure he is dead.

"They have no idea if he's going to be there, or what they're going to find," says Christopher.

The two separate. Nadine finds Diego very much alive, and he immediately attacks her.

Nikolas goes looking for Nadine and "stumbles onto Diego and his little office space. He's got apparatus set up in a warehouse."

Yeah, "set up" to explode with Nadine inside. But just as Diego is about to activate the bombs, Nikolas grabs him from behind. They struggle, Maxie and Spinelli get involved ("Nikolas uses that as a distraction to take over the situation") and then the famed Text Message Killer falls off the catwalk to his death.

"Nikolas watches him dangle from the catwalk by a rope and sees him go lifeless," says Christopher.

Nadine is saved, and Diego is really, most sincerely, dead this time. Crisis averted! On to the next one - Nikolas needs brain surgery to save his life.

"Nikolas keeps walking around saying, 'I'm not having the surgery, I'm not having the surgery,' but not telling anyone. Therefore, what is his motivation for not having the surgery? He likes having headaches? I don't know the answer to that," admits the actor.

Luckily, his aunt Alexis is there to try to convince Nikolas to get the surgery for the sake of his son, Spencer.

"She reiterates to him that there are people involved here other than just himself. She tells him to stop being so selfish."

He can't, though, because the tumor allows him to hallucinate about his late fiancée, Emily, and he doesn't want that to end.

"What he is trying to do - and is helpless at - is trying to find a way to live with his tumor because he can can see, touch and feel Emily and he is trying to hang on to that. At the same time, the tumor is obviously killing him. So there's the conundrum."

Our hunch is that Nikolas will consent to the life-saving surgery and find new love with Nadine.

"She's the polar opposite of him," he says. "She's a quirky, funny, offbeat, all-American kind of gal."

Which could be just what the script doctor ordered.

"He needs to lighten up a bit, doesn't he?" says the actor.

OOH those sound good... Thanks Stacey!!

I'm probably one of the few that like Nadine..

I like Nadine too...when she first came on I didn't but I do like her. I agree with all the other posters about the violence against women. I like GH of the early 90s...remember when Sonny and Brenda were together...I just adored them. FYI - supposedly Las Vegas is cancelled so Vanessa Marcil might be back! I hope so I can't stand Sarah Brown as Claudia! Something about her just annoys the heck out of me.

I like Nadine. She is a lot better than Leyla. While I don't think they should have murdered Emily, I even like Nadine better than Emily. :rolleyes1

Sarah Brown has always annoyed me! I remember fast forwarding her years ago as Carly. Man I despised Carly then...kinda how I feel about Claudia.

Now see I like Claudia. But then again I love a good B****...

I like how she is protective over Johnny.

I always like the bad boys and girls.. :teeth:

Did you see Patricks lip quiver when she said 'Yes" you are the dad????

It actually quivered! I think Patrick will be a good daddy and hopefully this will stop him and Leyla hooking up (and you just watch....Leyla will get pregnant:rolleyes: )

Previews for the week of 03-Mar-2008by Carol Banks Weber

**Jason dive-bombs into the car to rescue Elizabeth. He receives nerve-shattering hand injuries for his trouble.
While Jason rescued Elizabeth, the car still tumbled off the cliff with Sam stuck in the trunk. Lucky takes care of Sam. Sam informs Lucky that despite his heroism, they won't ever be the same together again. Patrick checks out Jason's damaged hand, and deems that he may not have full use of it ever again. How's he gonna hold his piece, then?? Ric inadvertently triggers a bomb Diego left behind. Spinelli cares for Maxie as she suffers the loss of Georgie while the two are at the gravesite. It is Georgie's birthday. Nadine accompanies Nikolas on the hunt for Diego in the warehouse. Nadine and Nikolas have a spat though, and he takes off, abandoning her.
Diego comes across Nadine. A struggle ensues, which Nikolas hears, and follows. Nikolas arrives at the scene of Nadine and Diego's struggle a shade behind. He looks around, grimly noting her things splayed all over. Diego binds Nadine up and keeps her in the shadows. Diego focuses on setting off his bombs from his computer when Nikolas barges in, starting a fist fight. Diego evades Nikolas, running off and straight into Maxie. Nikolas gives Diego chase, while suffering from Emily sightings and Emily flashbacks of the night Diego killed her. Nikolas pounds on Diego until the killer slips off a catwalk and ends up swinging on a noose. Nikolas has a little help from Spinelli and Maxie. Nikolas locates and rescues Nadine from the elevator shaft. Emily shows up in front of Nikolas in a mirage, using tough love and insisting he go ahead with surgery. Nikolas pays Emily no mind. Alexis summons the cavalry after stumbling over a prone Nikolas. Alexis, too, applies tough love to provoke Nikolas into doing surgery. He tunes her out. Scott aggravates Luke by arguing with Lulu. (Ian?) pressures Jerry. Ian finds himself enamored of Sam. Ian may succeed where Emily and Alexis fail, in getting Nikolas to go along with his special drug therapy. Claudia threatens to do Sonny in, so don't mess with Johnny. Did Claudia say anything? Sonny doesn't seem to notice, as he keeps Johnny prisoner and threatens the young man with dire consequences. Johnny stands firm about ignorance of Kate or Michael. Claudia visits Kate at the hospital to drop a little gossip about her late-night fling with Sonny. Peg pushes and pushes Michael to make an important call. Patrick doesn't take the news of his daddyhood with Robin well. It confirms for her that she did the right thing and will continue doing the right thing by leaving him out of it. Next week: Alarm grips Lulu at the thought of Johnny in peril… What Jason does next doesn't sit well with Elizabeth… The same for Sam about Lucky's next move… Nikolas proves he'll do anything for love… Spinelli does detective work to close in on Michael's whereabouts… Michael resurfaces… Sonny experiences the cold comprehension of his words on Michael.

OOH thanks Stacey..

** I so can't wait for Carly to find out that Jason moved in Liz and the boys with him.. This is gonna be priceless.. **

SD anon...

**Robin is not going to be set up to be destructed. She will not be thrilled with Patrick but he will also make wrong choices as well. This is the current information I have. As far as Jane Elliot and Tony Geary both will be leaving by the end of this summer and their story will be wrapped up by then. They won't have much of a story just a few scenes that set the stage for their characters to leave the show permanently. As far as Ian and Sam, there is a thought to pair them but Lusam is still the prevailing idea.

what wrong choices will Patrick make?

By choosing to walk away from the baby and then changes his mind, this shows Robin he is not very reliable and in her mind he still does not want her or their baby.

To answer about Cameron, How do Jason and Elizabeth Morgan with their children, Cameron and Jake Morgan sound to anyone? Cause yes that is what is set to happen.
