Previews for the week of 02-Jun-2014

by Carol Banks Weber

**Ric, what?! Alexis has to tell Molly her dad’s the head of a mob syndicate and is cooling his heels in the clink.
Julian, nevertheless, forges ahead with his deception for what he believes is the greater good: to keep his family from going into body bags.
Julian pledges to do his best to be the father Lucas deserves, and let nothing more happen to his son.
Molly puts Julian on the spot about the truth of his statements.

Nikolas comes across a destroyed Elizabeth, nursing her wounds about Ric’s betrayal.

Sonny tries to force Ava to back up her contention that she’s really carrying his unborn child.
Sonny doesn’t know whether to kill Ava, make her pay some other way, or — gasp! — forgive her since she’s allegedly carrying his child. He may end up taking her in.
Sonny discloses to Carly that Ava insists she’s pregnant with his kid.
Carly and Morgan are floored by the latest developments, and more than a little grossed out.
First thing Carly does is let Ava know what she thinks of her and pick a fight.
Carly gives Franco something to do, for her.
Sonny throws himself on the mercy of his son, Morgan.
Sonny throws his weight around, trying to get people to do his bidding.
Morgan digs deeper into Ava’s pregnancy story.
At a loss, Morgan runs something by Kiki.

Patrick and Sabrina go over the details of what they remember about the night that car tried to run them off the road. They’re not gonna let this go.

Patrick and Elizabeth get together as supportive friends to try to feel better about their sucky lives right now.

Sam and Silas really dig each other, which is the perfect opportunity for Nina to show up.
Sam confides in Alexis how much Silas’ love has transformed her.
Meanwhile, Nathan sits on an important bit of information that will affect Silas’ relationship with Sam. It involves Nina. What the hell’s he waiting for?
When more information arrives, Nathan’s confused.
Sam becomes increasingly concerned about Silas, as well she should.
It’s Danny’s birthday, which means another useless party and a bathroom break. Oh wait—something possibly harrowing happens here.

Nathan offers moral support and beefcake status when Maxie faces whatever the judge brings. This brings Nathan and Maxie together.
Before Maxie and Nathan can do anything about their mutual attraction, in walks fate to separate them again.
Mac’s ready to drop-kick Levi from Maxie’s life. The two men can’t stand each other, and it reaches critical mass.

Remember Rafe? Me neither. But it says he gets into another pickle. DUI.
Sam has to tend to Rafe’s latest predicament. Could he have been the one who caused Patrick’s car to crash?!

Next week: The consequences of Julian’s lie weigh heavily… Julian works out the schematics with Jordan, assigning her a specific task… Still obsessed smitten with Nikolas, Britt begins a campaign to win him back… A gun goes off, taking a character down… Rafe begins to remember something bad that night… The brutal, senseless killing of his mom still controls Rafe’s present… Sam uses her P.I. skills to figure out who ran Patrick’s car over and if it was truly an accident and not a hit… Anna and Duke get into a strong disagreement about the mob… It is Anna’s design to trap the mob, good and tight… Sonny and Ava work each other’s last nerve in what TPTB want viewers to believe is a sexually tense interplay made for dramatic daytime TV… Morgan jumps the gun here, coming up with possibly the wrong thing in mind… Maxie and Levi encounter more conflict… Free Carlos, freed soon.

Gossip for the week of 02-Jun-2014

Just hand Tony Geary the Emmy now. His is the best, most complete doppelganger portrayal in daytime and primetime and film. And, his gleeful embrace of Fluke — think Bill Murray on an evil bender — made me miss Luke Spencer.

Did Rafe drink, drive, and accidentally run Patrick, a pregnant Sabrina, and Emma off the road that night? Worst of all, did he forget all of that in a drunken haze?

Carly and Sam get hip to why Robin abandoned her family: Jason. This must mean TPTB have a recast in mind. Word is, this summer, they’ll screen-test.

Amanda Lee of The Macomb Daily Blogs: The World According To Mandy is the best online soap blogger out there right now. Every commentary she puts her name to has GH dead to rights. Take this one, from May 28, 2014, “GENERAL HOSPITAL: How to read between the lines on a soap,” where Lee proceeds to read TPTB the riot act for succumbing to the same anvils, and have a little fun with some predictions. I bet most of them come true, including this: “I predict that Ava either lies about a pregnancy and has to run around trying to get pregnant or she really is pregnant and she’s either carrying Sonny’s child or grandchild (both scenarios skeeve me out).” Everybody vomit together now.

I hate the stereotype about Patrick and Sabrina's baby dying. What I hate is the stereotype that it somehow brings them closer together, a shared grief. Doesn't anyone realize what a myth that is? The reality is that having a baby die tears couples apart about 80% of the time. There's rarely any "shared grief", and virtually all couples go through a rocky period. Been there, done that. So it kind of irks me to see the writers feed into the myth.

Okay, I admit I bawled like a baby watching Sabrina an Patrick say goodbye to Gabriel.

Changing gears, does anyone else think that the writers can't figure out what to do with Rafe's character so they're going to have to make him the "face of the Jerome drug campaign"? And Nina, already think she's a schemer and can really walk. I'm sorry Michelle, but your'e a little long in the tooth to play the giddy schoolgirl gushing over your husband. Gag me now.

And Ava's pregnancy.....just ewwwwwwwww!

I am so not into the Nina story line. Mainly because I truly don't care; have no affinity to the actress herself and we are over staffed with new characters. I know people have had enough with the kids and them sucking up core character screen time but it seems that every other week we get a new major ADULT character also.

Now my next comment has nothing to do personally with the Michelle Stafford, like I said I never watch Y&R and I'm sure she's a good actress and there is nothing wrong with her personal looks. However her character looks have already turned me off. I don't like her expressions, the way she carries herself and she's too damn tall looking even sitting down. Put her back in the coma.

I was a casual Y&R watcher during the golden age of SoapNet, never warmed up to any of the characters though. Definitely dislike the giddy schoolgirl persona though.I would have loved it if the writers had given a nudge nudge wink wink to Port Charles though and cast someone like Julie Pinson or the girl that played Julie on PC in the role of Nina.

Now that kind of casting I might have gone for.

It'd definitely make more sense, although nabbing MS is considered a wasting coup. Funny thing is Y&R is recasting MS's role and I've read on Twitter that Gina Tognoni (Kelly from OLTL) has the role sewn up

Don't think grief will be bring Sabrina and Patrick together since the Sabrina actress will be off screen for maternity leave in a week and a half

A) I DEFINITELY think Levi is after the family jewels! Lol. Every time he mentions Maxie's family he brings up the Aztec stuff.

B) Nina is a creepster. Her Westborn DNA is showing because she is up to no good.

C) The baby Gabriel stuff is killing me! My friend have birth the day before me at 25 weeks, so I've sorta been through this. Why did they not try any treatments for necrotizing entercolitis? There are several, but they just wrote him off!! That may have worked in the old days of soaps, but now a simple search will tell you how absurd not even trying to treat him is.

D) My husband said, "Are they really going to kill a baby?" I said, "Are you kidding me? I've seen breast cancer, teen HIV, one kid dying and her heart going into her cousin...You clearly didn't grow up watching soaps!" Lol!

Does anyone else find it a bit cruel of the writers to ask a pregnant woman to play out a dying newborn baby storyline? I know that actors portray difficult things all the time but this made me very uncomfortable.

I agree 100%. Terrible storyline; no reason at all for it and very telling as to the management style and how they treat a pregnant employee

I agree! The other day he was sitting on the sofa reading a book about Aztecs. I think it was the day that Mac stopped by with food. I was on the treadmill and meant to rewind it to get the title but forgot to before I erased it.

I can rewatch it "On Demand" and will do that tomorrow and see if I can see the title. I agree that he is very into this whole Aztecs story. If that is where it is going, wish Frisco was coming back to be in it but after how Jack Wagner was treated last time, I doubt it.

Totally agree. Haven't they killed off enough kids? How about they should have kept Nina dead. Yuck can't stand her already!

I am really disappointed with the storyline. I was hoping Sabrina and baby would go out of town while the actress is on maternity leave and that they put her & Patrick together when she came back.
