The 'Gay' Moment' Beauty and The Beast SPOILER

Hard to find any film with so many positive messages. I feel sorry for those who focus on the gay thing and miss the other major themes. Maybe the most important theme for current life was how Gaston was able to transform the villagers over a threat of an evil beast.

Then of course beauty from within , woman empowerment, education, responsibilities of the wealthy

There is a reason this story is so popular

DW saw the movie over the weekend and was pretty much blown away with how great it is. I asked her about the big gay moment, she just rolled her eyes and basically said the whole thing was blown waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy out of proportion. She said it's the sort of thing that if you hadn't been looking for it you probably wouldn't think twice about it.

I think the takeaway here is that there are lots of news stories and reactions to them that are just drummed-up/hyped-up social media fodder. This is the 21st century equivalent of those old tabloids that used to print headlines like "Mother Gives Birth to twins, one is a WEREWOLF!"

Was the gay moment two man dancing for 12 seconds at the end. If so that it is a very short and not a very gay moment for anyone to uproar over. Also I love the gay community so have no problem with it was just wondering what all the talk was about.

Also does anyone know the broadway / west end credits of some of these actors.?
Know Audra did Ragtime, Carousel, Marie Christine , The play about the famouse opera singer Maris etc
I saw her in Shuffle Along.

Kavlin Kline did that play about a long nose?
This is an interesting interview with Luke Evans and Josh Gad where they talk about their backgrounds and actually, how similar they are when it comes to their love of singing and performing.

I thought the whole "gay controversy" was silly - and ironic, since Evans/Gaston is gay in real life!

The thing is, I noticed the two guys dancing and thought, "Wow, nice." Because I thought of it as a continued progression towards acceptance. My kids have only known acceptance, so if they noticed, it wasn't any kind of moment to them. It was just another couple dancing. Adults are the ones that need to get a grip.

You can find all the Broadway credits and info about Broadway shows at
The Internet BROADWAY Database. Just type in the name of the performer or show.

If you want to know any other movies they were in, go to

As a person of Russian Heritage, all I am going to say. I could care less if they are gay or not. As longs as they are happy.

The "gay" moment seemed like an attempt at humor, more or less in an ironic way than any sort of "gay agenda" thing.....If that 1 second (or whatever it was) scene is offensive to you then you need to get out more and for gosh sake, don't pass that ignorance on to your kids.....

On the Broadway credits topic: first thing I ever knew Kevin Kline from was the original b'way cast album of "On the 20th Century." He was the Pirate King in Pirates of Penzance with Linda Ronstadt; there's a filmed version that's really fun (and the film also has Angela Lansbury, the animated Mrs.Potts). One of my favorite Kevin Kline movies is Silverado.

I first knew who Audra was from the original pre-Broadway recording of Ragtime; she is great. I recognized her right off in the opening scene/song in BatB. Disney trivia: she's also in an episode of Doc McStuffins and sings a song (as a toy version of '20s pilot Bessie Coleman).

Anything that seems to deviate from the "societal standard" is looked with disdain and is made a big deal over. That's all I will leave it at.
