Both The Gap Band and Arturo Sandoval will perform at the Eat to the Beat concerts during our trip. I'm not familiar with either one. It'll be just DH and I - 60ish - which one should we see? (When we go during the Flower and Garden show's Flower Power concerts, the choices are always easier....LOL)

I really enjoyed the Arturo Sandoval concert I attended here in Michigan a couple of years ago. He is a Cuban Jazz Trumpeter and very good. The audience was on its feet. Here is a website where I believe there is some clips: http://www.arturosandoval.com/ We're 40ish and like Jazz a lot.

The Gap Band also has a website: www.gapband.com
I can offer no comment on this band, however.

Of the two, I've only heard of Arturo Sandoval. He's got a great reputation among the world of jazz especially, and if you have an opportunity to see him for free, please take it. DS is a jazz trumpet major, and he's told me that tickets to see Arturo Sandoval can easily cost $40 and above. He's so amazed that Sandoval is putting on a free concert-please take advantage of it! I don't think you'll be sorry.

My vote's for the Gap Band ---- love the song "you dropped a bomb on me baby....."
They're kinda like Earth, Wind & Fire - upbeat, dancing, motown tunes :cool1:

Does the Gap Band have more than that one hit? I remember them from the 80's but I don't think they lasted long.

As a child of the 70's-80's, I would have to vote for the Gap Band! Their hits were "You Dropped a Bomb on Me", "Early in the Morning", "Outstanding", and "Burn Rubber on Me". My favorite of their songs is "Outstanding". You can hear samples of their music here: http://snipurl.com/iejc

I've never heard of Arturo Sandoval, sorry. =)

no real decision here.. arturo sandoval is a superior talent still on top of his game. he was friends with dizzy gillespie. the gap band was fun in middle school, and i'm sure they are great guys ;but , i would definitely go for the trumpet.

I have a dumb question... Why not see both? We saw Arturo at the press event for the 25th of WDW, and I was very impressed. I'm not familiar with the Gap Band, but sometime the groups that you don't expect much from, turn out to be great.

Case in point: Tonite, Kool and the Gang- all ten of them! A lot of fun and super sets!

The Gap Band also had another song that was kind of popular- "Party Train". Their lead singer Charlie Wilson is the uncle of Snoop Dogg and has guested on a few of Snoop's recent songs including 'Beautiful' and 'Signs'.
