The future of Magic Bands

I was pondering some things I would like to see with MBs, and thought others might have ideas too.

1.) sliders for things like Disney Visa, AP, DVC etc. (so I don't have to carry the cards to get the discounts). They could be printed with bar codes/expiration dates &/or RFID enabled.

2.) a watch slider!

3.) more color choices

4.) I would also like to see them used for family locating. Would certainly make finding "lost parents" a no brainer!

So what do you think? Other ideas about the MBs or what can be done with them?

More colors I think aren't going to happen more of a push for LE/Speciality bands like SW and Frozen

Locator again they are putting the stuff in place so they can do this. They have the long range integrators just have to be careful who has the ability to track specific guests

I'd love a keychain type thing that can be clipped to a purse, belt loop, etc.

I would love a clipable. I wear a watch and don't want to put the Magicband on my other wrist... and on my right wrist it does not work when I drive in to the resort gates... and too sweaty!

I've always assumed they could track guest movements, I can't imagine the sort of data mining they could do on those suckers. When we first got the bands I remember thinking "I hope they use these for lost kids!" would seriously be invaluable.

My 2014 AP bands came with a slider which I thought was cool so I looked up and found 2013 AP sliders on ebay. I purchased them since I was an AP in 2013 but was not given a slider.

I was making a purchase and was digging for my discount card when the CM said "don't worry about it, I see your slider".. Which slider are you referring to? the one I bought on ebay for $3?

I know that my AP status can show up at entrances but I have never been given the impression that is shows up at POS. I have always had to produce my AP (or my Disney Visa) when I have asked for the discount.

Where / how do you link the TiW card? I just looked all over MDE and could not find anywhere to link it.

I agree with this post. The info may be associated with the MB but POS (point of sale) still requires physical cards including a drivers license in order to acquire discounts and they are not automatically discounted, you still have to ask.

Improve MB?!? I wish there was a Disney "communicator" you could rent or buy that works like the MB but also has access to the MDE for those of us who don't want a smart phone. To me Disney has tiered the WDW experience - those who have portable technology and those who have to stand in a line and talk to the ipad holders.

I think Magic Bands will at some point replace "lines" for rides. I think you will use the bands to "check-in" at an attraction and then it will give you a time to return for a short wait.

Not that I know of. Anybody doing so just needs to be careful that they don't harm the components.

To me Disney has tiered the WDW experience - those who have portable technology and those who have to stand in a line and talk to the ipad holders.

Actually another tier too - just upgraded my phone and MDE won't open. So on my next trip I will need something along other than my current phone to access MDE Park-side.

Not that I know of. Anybody doing so just needs to be careful that they don't harm the components.

Yes I've been looking at some teardowns and there is an antenna that appears to extend about an inch on either side into the adjustable part that so just don't cut them off.

When you say " modify" are you asking about doing your own thing to make them more personalized ( decorating ) ? If so, no there are no rules. The MBs still work and many people have reported CMs complimenting their art work.
