Our pre-trip report http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1256313
The dates, 10/26 -10/29. The players, the DW and me.
This was a relatively last minute trip (had a week to put it together), and it mixed both business and pleasure.
After dropping the boys off at the kennel we departed the house early morning on 10/26 for the seven hour drive to Mickey's house (six hours of driving and one hour for various pit stops). The drive east and then southeast was uneventful.
Arrived at the POP and checked in. Since we were mixing business and pleasure, the first night was on the company. Our CM took care of the two separate billings without any problems. Checked into our room, building 3, room 3452. The room was clean and comfortable.
Once we unpacked we headed for the Rain Forest Cafe at DTD. We had a 30 minute wait and were seated. I had the pot roast and the DW had a half rack of ribs. Good eats! Did a little shopping and called it a day.
Friday, 10/27, I left for a day of meetings. The DW was in charge of picking up tickets for MNSSHP, a one day park hopper and Mickey's Backyard BBQ.
Arrived back at the hotel around 1600 hours. Late Friday afternoon on I-4 is such a joy!
Changed clothes and head for the MK.
Dinner reservations at the LTT were for 1820 hours. So, we walked around, enjoyed the sites and bought a few souveniers. Dinner was excellent until the first character showed up and I discovered I forgot the camera! Can't believe I did that.
Once dinner was over we enjoyed the rest of evening. The fireworks were awesome! The parade was too. Definitely a "Got to do it again!" Arrived back the the hotel around 0030 hours. Waaaayyy past our bedtime.
Saturday, 10/28, got up around 0900 hours feeling like we didn't sleep at all. A couple of fuddy duddies we are!
Left the hotel and headed for Epcot. Lunch reservations at Le Cellier for 1210 hours. Again, an excellent meal! After eating we walked around the F & W festival and did a little shopping.
We were going to head over to MGM, but decided to make a pit stop at the hotel. After our nap...did I mention we're a couple of fuddy duddies?
Departed the hotel for Fort Wilderness. The BBQ started at 1830 hours. This is something better suited for families with small children. Should have done my homework first, but what the heck. The food wasn't bad. Either was the band. Sure wish I'd remember to take that stupid camera!
We stayed about two hours and headed back the hotel. When we got back my sweet tooth was working overtime for some reason, so a slice of cheese cake was in order. Completed some last minute shopping and headed for the room.
Sunday, 10/29, got up very early and headed for the house. Picked up the boys, and I think they're not mad at us any longer.
All-in-all, this was an enjoyable trip. Our main objective, after I finished working, was MNSSHP, but just getting away from the house for a few days was nice. Every CM we encountered was courteous and professional, the accomodations and food were excellent. No complaints!
Now to start working on our Dec. trip.
