The FTM on Silver DETAILED Itinerary (long!)

OK, I know for some this itinerary is going to seem ridicules, and way to detailed. Let me say first that this is flexible, we do not have to stick to this plan, and I’m not going to cry if our plans change. This is just a way to keep our party of 9 organized, no what should we do next syndrome.

I have heard the best way to plan big family trips is to have detailed plans, but let everyone know they can do their own thing and meet up with the group on the schedule at any time. We will also be using cell phones and walkie talkies.

Well here goes, for all you experts out there would really appreciate any help, suggestions comments etc.

Cast:
Addie: The Disney Nut 26 trip planner
Dh: 28 Close to a Disney Nut (will convert totally this trip)
DS: 2 and a handful!
MIL: 50 something, perfect MIL! First trip to the world
SIL: 26 First trip to the world
BIL: 29 First trip to the world
Nephew: 2 (almost 3) First trip to the world
Nephew: 1 (almost 2) First trip to the world
Best Babysitter ever: (More like a 16 yr old Mary Poppins) First trip to the world

Hints: When you see “Adults only” that means that the kids will stay in the room with the babysitter, she will never leave the room with all 3 kids, or travel anywhere alone with the 3 kids. Mostly she will just be like part of the family and a mothers helper.

So what do you think. I have probably spent about 10 hours or more on this
;)

Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks! I already have most dining reservations, and we are going in October.

WOW.....I only wish I were half as organized in the real world as you are in disney. It seems you have everything under control. We're leaving in 2 weeks & all I got done were a few ps's. I have to say you are one GOOD planner......It seems to me that you don't need any suggestions, WE all should be asking you.....Have a great time

...a woman after my own heart! You've taken great pains to organize and provide a great experience for your family! Great job! If you find out things are too packed, just make your adjustments and move on. There will always be more things to do than we can fit into our schedules. It's nice to see you have given the kids and the adults separate times too! Have a great time. We are going in October also (10/24-10-30). That's a great time of the year. Enjoy your cruise too!:bounce:

dg39- My husband would die laughing if he read that! If I were only half as organized in the real world it would be great for me too! Cleaning, organizing, and keeping my life under control is just not as interesting as planning a Disney vacation!!

Thanks for the comments!

:D :D

I'm impressed. But I'll lay a day's pay against you nailing it minute for minute!

8:00 Enter Park
8:02 Kilimanjaro Safaris

??????

No one is THAT good. But if you are, Salude!

I think planning is good! I have also learned that trips to WDW with such small children usually means that plans can go to heck in a heartbeat! If you are flexible with your plans, you won't set yourself up for disappointment if you don't get in everything you would like at the exact time you want to do it. I don't know what time of year you are going, and that would factor into responses you might receive. It seems like you are going under the assumption that you will be the first in the turnstiles when you are entering the parks during EMH days, and I do not believe that is likely if you plan on arriving just ten minutes before opening. You will be standing in a long line if you arrive at that time, and you will not enter the parks at exact opening time. Also regarding your AK plans on Friday, I do not think you can get from park entrance to the Safari Ride in 2 minutes. I think your plan to hit 6 attractions that day from 8:02, and ending at 10:30, is too amitious. Both Pangini and Maharaja need time to be truly appreciated, IMHO. But, if you can accomplish it, I would love to hear about it! (and then I will for sure adopt your plans on my next trip!) You have a lot of fun and wonderful things planned, and I hope you have a WONDERFUL vacation:)!!

Pat_Elliott -

"8:00 , 8:02"

lol-good point!!

Hope all is well with wife and baby!

I hope it works for you. I wouldn't want the stress of trying to meet your times.

Sometimes it is nice to just allow some time to just take time and enjoy the park you are in.

My family would laugh at me if I gave them a list like that. We try to always hit our favorites but a list like yours wouldn't work for my family.

I do try to make sure that everyone gets to go on their favorites. That way if we don't make it to everything they are still happy.

GREAT job on the itinery!! I do see some problem with it though. It looks like you plan on getting back to Beach Club using the Epcot entrance a lot. This is going to cause a problem, since the gates to Epcot close at 9PM to new entrants. It looks like a few times, you're not even leaving your last activity until after 9PM, so you won't be able to utilize that way to get back to the Beach Club(remember you have to walk through Epcot to get back). During those times (looks like Fri, Sat and Wed nights) you're only options will be to take a taxi, or take the bus to DTD and then transfer there to a BC bus.

Quite a planning job! I usual do something similar, but without the times, and a little less jam packed. So long as you are flexible, don't need to stick to the times, and don't mind if you don't get to all the rides you have planned you should be fine. A few notes however.........................

On you plans for day 1 and 4 in the AK - you have an awful lot to get done by 12:00 and 11:00, respectively. I don't know that you will get as many attractions in as you are planning. If you can, more power to you - but running (literally) from attraction to attraction isn't all that much fun.

A half hour of swimming at SAB on day 1 seems rather short. You will never get the kids (or adults) away from the awsome pool that quickly. You do seem to have other free time at the BC, and I'd suggest making use of the pool - it is great.

You have several evenings where it appears that you want to get back to the BC via Epcot. Some of those evening it seems you will be heading back after Epcot is closed. They will not allow you to go thru Epcot to get to the BC after closing. You may want to consider other transportation plans.

On days 2 and 5 you will be heading back to the BC from MGM to get the kids, and then back to MGM to catch a show. I don't think you have left enough time to make the round trip and be at the desired show. I don't see you getting from MGM to the BC, get the kids, back to MGM, see Playhouse Disney and Muppets - all between 10:30 and 1:00. It takes longer to get back and forth than you think, you will get held up with the kids, showtimes may be a factor. You may want to head back earlier for the kids. On day 5 you have less than an hour to make the round trip from MGM to BC (get kids) and back to MGM. It will be tough to do it that quick.

On day 4 you are headed from AK to BB and you give yourself a half hour. You may need more time.

Lunch at the Brown Derby on day 5 will take longer than 40 minutes. It is a great restaurant and you don't want to rush it like that, even if you could eat there that quick - which I doubt.

You day 3 plan for Epcot Future World attractions between 5:30 and 7:00 seems a little ambitious.

No real criticisms of your plan - just my observations and thought, since you asked ;).

Seems like the kids are spending an awful lot of time in the room, but if the trip is more for the adults than the kids I can see why you made the plan the way you did.

Thanks so much everyone for the advice. It's great to have someone else look over the plans and find things I missed or did not know.

Thanks, Thanks, again!

Wait! You forgot something!

You didn't invite me.

Not to be the downer here... but...

With three kids under 3, all I have to say is, "Good Luck". I think most of your times are going to be shot... I didn't see any diaper changes scheduled (:p lol). Seriously though, our first trip we went with my 5, 3 and 1 year old AND a babysitter and we were still caught off guard with things... long lines, temper tantrums (I DON'T WANT TO STOP SWIMMING NOW!!! I NEED TO EAT NOW (that was me lol), etc...), weather problems, etc....

I had the same problem of hitting AK on EMH with a Breakfastosaurus PS at 10:00am. I finally figured out that we would be LESS stressed hitting ITTBAB first, then head directly over to Dinoland and wait for it to open... I have been in the RUSH for Kilimanjaro Safari TWICE, and it "ain't pretty"... much longer than 2 minutes. Plus, once you get there, you wait in line (maybe 10 minutes) plus the ride itself, I don't figure we would get back to ITTBAB until 8:45am at least, then wait in line again (since these are the only two rides open during EMH) and it would put us close to breakfast time. So, since we have ridden KS three times already, I am willing to skip it our first day and possibly hit it before the end of the trip. I see you are hitting AK twice, that might be something to think about too.

AK is a beautiful park... don't rush through it if you can. So many neat things out of the normal paths! Try exploring for a bit down a hidden trail or two... We were very impressed.

So, overall, I think you have planned too much and need to figure in lines, babies and resting. Good luck!
