The "Frozen" takeover continues............

And, I do not even own a copy of the movie Frozen, so understand that I'm not a flipped-out fan.
But, I'll tell you now, if and when they create a Broadway musical of the show, I'll be there.
It's a fun story with good characters, sharp dialogue, and a great collection of songs.

Hey if California doesn't want it bring it to Florida............I betcha it would be a hit!

Ha ha. On the DL board someone suggested DCA get Osborne Lights. Now I LOVE Aladdin but it sounds like a fair trade to me! :D

I am heartbroken! Aladdin is very favorite show in any of the 6 US parks. I never miss it and now must get down to DLR before mid January. I love Frozen (especially the sing-a-long at WDW) but there is plenty of Frozen and just one Genie. I m sure I will like the new Frozen musical, but at the expense of Aladdin?
Disney should cut Beauty and the Beast at DHS and put Aladdin in there.

I think that Frozen is mediocre at best but I do understand that many people like it. I just wish that so much didn't have to go away only to be replaced by Frozen. What would be wrong with adding instead of replacing occasionally? Disney has the space.

I've been in the advertising business for years, and there's one rule
that I can count on:

Give the kids something to ask for and the parents will bring them.
ha ha, yup! so true. Although this is honestly overkill. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much frozen if you ask me. Its not a bad movie but jeez, enough already!

Although I'd love the Aladdin show, there's not nearly enough fly area, back stage production space, or house size for that kind of major show at the basic small theater in DHS.

I have no problem with this change in shows. Whenever Disney changes something in the parks there are always the lamenters. Shall we also bring back 20,000 Leagues and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride in WDW? Don't get me wrong, I love Aladdin, but its time has come, plus Aladdin is very well represented with its own show on Broadway and on the Fantasy. I actually love that Disney is investing so much in the parks right now and I actually don't feel it's oversaturated with Frozen. Yes, they are getting a whole area in EP WS, but the country of Norway has a lot to do with that as it decided not to sponsor the pavilion anymore.

We just sailed both Norway cruises on DCL Magic and after they announced all the Frozen stuff that was happening on the ship - a new segment in one of the shows, a special excursion, Freezing the Night Away - I was dreading it, thinking our whole cruise was going to be Frozen and it wasn't. It was very tastefully done and wasn't over the top, all the time Frozen.

Disney is in the business of making money and if they think this is what is going to attract visitors, then so be it.

I love, love, love the movie Frozen. I really do.

But, Disney is becoming a Frozen theme park, and that is completely unnecessary. A few attractions, OK. But, I would totally rather
see an Aladdin show than a Frozen one. :(

How is Disney becoming a Frozen theme park? Sure, you have the Frozen ride and meet and greet going in at Epcot, which needs new attractions. At DHS you have the summer Frozen events, but they're not permanent except for the singalong, and quite frankly DHS needs some new things to do before Star Wars Land and Toy Story go in. And now you have a new show replacing one that's been there for years at DL.

That just doesn't seem like a takeover to me.

People tend to "see a trend" if there is more than even two or three "references" to a single movie at the parks, mainly because so few movies get more than one attraction or parade vehicle, etc.

I know there was an outcry of "enough Nemo" when they created the major stage show at DHS and also the re-themeing and attractions of (the former) "Living Seas" to the current "The Seas with Nemo and Friends."

Ariel gets a show at DHS (maybe coming to an end, who knows) and a new dark ride and Meet and Greet at MK.

They see an over abundance of one thing and they react.

Re: bringing back Mr. Toad and 20,000 Leagues? Yes, yes we should! Only reason Leagues was ditched was it was leaking into tunnels and it was a slow load. But it was restored at DL and is a success. Frozen is ridiculous.

My comment was somewhat tongue in cheek, however, Disney has a gigantic catalogue of movies/characters they can tap into, and they seem to be just sucking the life out of Frozen. It overshadows how good the movie is.

We could use more Monsters Inc...maybe Tangled...I LOVE the movie Enchanted. They are squeezing the ever loving life out of Frozen. It's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. :)

Not so much.
It's now Nemo, of course, not 20,000 leagues.
There is talk of closing it. (Such as rumors go.)

Ok, that's sorta true. But it was restored with the pool, and is cool. I am still a Mr. toad person, I miss it so much. :(

But how much demand is still out there? We hear about demand for the meet and greet and people lament the availability of FP, but princess meet and greets have always been popular and they have a pretty low capacity. I don't see shortages of frozen merchandise any more. My 9 year old daughter loved frozen when it came out. We saw it twice in the theater and listen to the soundtrack constantly. Now she tells me that no one cares about Frozen anymore. Now that might be because she is older, but she still wants to meet Ariel and other characters.

Well it's not really accurate that there is talk of closing it. There was when the ride closed for a long refurb last year. Speculation was that it would go away to make room for Star Wars. Iger himself directly commented on Nemo and squashed the rumor. And the ride did in fact reopen and with SW definitely going elsewhere, it seems like the ride is safe.

Not saying they couldn't or wouldn't close it ever. But rumors are not swirling at the moment about this.

I've seen the Aladdin show many times and it is fabulous. What keeps us going back over and over is knowing that the Genie will change his ad libs based on current pop culture. Last time we saw it he was riffing on Miley Cyrus. I'm sure his current routine includes at least one Trump joke!

Considering the layout of DCA, I do see a definite case of Frozen overload. Currently, you can go to the Animation Building to meet Anna and Elsa. Walk just a few steps across the street and you can meet Olaf. Continue across a courtyard to the old Muppet's theater and see the Frozen Sing-a-Long. Last winter, they took out an evening event, The Mad Tea Party, and put in a Frozen event. They had special snacks and drinks, ice sculpture demonstrations, and snowman building. I haven't heard if they will be doing that again this year, but I wouldn't be at all surprised. Cross the street again and you'll be in front of the Aladdin theater, soon to be showing Frozen! The only other attraction back in that area is Monsters, Inc., an adorable dark ride that kind of gets lost among the Frozen frenzy. If they take out the Mad Tea Party and replace it with a Frozen party again, you would basically have an entire Frozen land, also inhabited by a few monsters.

I just saw the Aladdin show last week and it was better than ever. I understand that all things must change at some point, but was there nothing else except Frozen to change it to? So many great films are absent while some are over-represented. Obviously Disney gets to run their business any way they feel is best, but for me....I'll skip all things Frozen every time.

Nobody, including Disney, had any inkling of the phenomenal impact that Frozen was going to have on most kids and many adults.

If Disney did NOT take advantage of it, they'd be nuts!

The audience keeps clamoring for more.

I must agree. If people wouldn't be spending money on all the stuff and add on packages, they would stop. But, the more you buy in to it, the more stuff there will be.

I totally agree about Tangled.... They really missed the boat with that movie. It's a wonderful movie and Rapunzel doesn't even appear at a character meal regularly unless another princess is sick. HUH??????
