I will admit that I've never seen the movie (though I just bought it as a surprise for my girls to watch on the drive down, so I may sneak and watch it beforehand). My inlaws took my girls to see it, and while they really enjoyed it, said it was a great movie, that was it. No "life changing experience" or anything, and no real talk about it weeks or even days later.

I'm truly astonished by the craze its made in the parks, and merchandising. Is it really that amazing of a movie that people are going this nuts over it?! The ones staying up to make the midnight FP+ selections for the M&G in MK are one thing, but now its taking over DHS.... I have to admit that I'm kind of annoyed with it.

Now I'm stuck worring that our one day at DHS is going to be totally over-run with all the Frozen Fanatics trying to get in all the Frozen experiences. And oh my goodness I can't believe HOW MANY things they are doing in DHS - It truely is taking over the park! My only hope is that the other rides will be normal or even slower because of it all. But the QS restaurants are surely to be crazy....

Okay, so that was my vent. I love going to Disney, and while I enjoy the Disney of my youth, I totally understand and appreciate them changing with the times. Having said that, I can't help but feel that this is overkill with Frozen. JMHO and I'm sure there are people who 100% agree with me, and I'm sure there are people who 100% disagree with me. :goodvibes

Here's the thing. DHS didn't have a parade or fireworks before the Frozen stuff was announced. So it's not like Frozen replaced beloved DHS attractions. And the people flocking to DHS for the Frozen stuff are pretty likely to be tied up with the parade/singalong/Fireworks finale all day. So while the park may feel more crowded, I'm willing to bet that wait times for DHS attractions won't go up much, if at all.

Right there with you, DisneyLver55! Although, we are not going back until next summer, I feel for everyone who is not a "Frozenite" and is going to be stuck with the craziness! :rolleyes2 I am grateful that our next trip will be during SWW! Fingers crossed they don't shorten that to extend Frozen! I will say, however, the dessert party treats, look awesome! :)

Disney can do no right. Either they're not giving people a reason to go to DHS and they've not got anything for Frozen despite it's popularity or they are forcing Frozen down everyones necks and ruining DHS.

I have a 10 yr old boy and a 17 yr old dd. The family ranges from "That was awful" to "Meh" in their Frozen opinions. They had just started the Ana and Elsa meet and greet in the Norway pavilion on our last trip and my only real thought on it was "Glad I don't have to stand in that line". Now, this whole Frozen experience at DHS will make things a little more crowded but it's really just bonus entertainment to take or leave. I think regular enjoyment of the parks will still be possible. 9 trips to Disney and we've never, not once, lined up to meet a princess or a fairy and we've never found the parks less enjoyable. So I guess this one doesn't worry me too much.

That's like saying you never saw Steamship Willie, so how can people want to go to an entire resort dedicated to a mouse?

Perhaps at least watch the doggone thing before you make up your mind.

People loved the movie, and decried the lack of the two new characters at the parks, and Disney responded.

I guess someone who hasn't read the Harry Potter books might think Universal is spending too much effort on its related rides and attractions and be mad that crowds were coming to see them. :confused3

Its Steamboat Willie....

Ok... Same thing can be said for SWW. I have never seen any of the movies (I know, collective gasp), have no understanding of the appeal, etc, but I'm not complaining that people FLOCK to DHS and overrun it with their crazy SW obsession. At least Disney is trying to do something fun to disperse the crowds around the world instead of leaving the craziness just at MK. I haven't seen all of Frozen either, but I'm glad there is something out there that excites so many people to the point that Disney higher ups are trying to do something to improve a park (at least for the summer) that needs A LOT of help.

Disney is in a lose lose situation with people on this board. They try and do something to fix the crowding and add an extra experience to a park that is in serious need of help and then people like yourself complain. If they wouldn't do anything then you have a group of people who are mad that the only Frozen experience has a 3-5 hour wait and us causing major back ups at MK.

Just please go and enjoy your vacation and don't worry about what others are excited about. Maybe TSM and the other few rides at DHS will have lower wait times because apparently everyone will be in Frozen zone.

Fight the power OP!!! Right there with ya! DHS is guaranteed to be my lil' guy's favorite park (Buzz, Woody, Mike, Sully, Ralph AND all the DisJr characters...mind blown) and the day we plan to be there went from a crowd prediction of a 1 to a 4. Also reading accounts online this phenomenon also brings out the worst in people with awful behavior.

To the poster who said its no win, you are wrong. They simply need to start announcing things more than 180 days out. Then I would have known about it and not booked our vacation for this summer.

Also you can forget about it taking the crowds away from any attractions. By 9:02 yesterday standby for TSMM was 65 minutes.

I loathe the Frozen phenomenon.

I'm reminded of the Simpsons treehouse of horror where Kang & Kodus stood for president.

New Attractions at DHS
BOOOOOOOO
No new attractions in DHS
BOOOOOOOO

Huge difference being if I have a week long trip planned I can avoid SWW. Frozen happens daily. I'm now stuck dealing with it no matter how I plan.

.

So you are saying that Disney can't be allowed to react to events within 6 months? In December Disney could not have known the size and scale of Frozens popularity. It is less than 6 months til Christmas if they now decided to do a Chtistmas Carol themed show for example, you would now complain that it's too short a notice for you?

I stand kind of neutral on the whole Frozen thing, but I am "over it" it many ways. I don't mind the DHS take over as it will hopefully be pulling attendance from the other parks and possibly making them less crowded.

As for your DHS day, if you're not doing the frozen stuff, you should be able to get onto the other rides/attractions with less waits? :confused3 I would hope so!

I'll join the rant...honestly, we watched the movie but found it to be perhaps the weakest of ALL Disney's animated movies. The characters were wooden, storylines were shoe-horned in (I'm looking at you, trolls), it felt rushed, the songs were not memorable and in some cases downright annoying (Love is An Open Door for one, and I detest the sound of Idina Menzel's voice so let it Go is torture to me).

Olaf was cute, but even he felt crammed into the story to satisfy some animated film story formula.

NOW...that aside, just because I think it was mediocre AT BEST, doesn't mean others didn't think it was the bees knees. Clearly I am in the minority. I rolled my eyes and groaned when they announced the Frozen additions to the parks, but I searched for the silver lining...which is it will siphon crowds away from the things I DO enjoy. So, for that, I'm okay with it all.

This event doesn't replace other events, doesn't increase your ticket price and is entirely optional. Complaining it's going to make the park busier is missing the point.

Disney want the parks to be busy. If you can take advantage of a quiet period then great but Disney would rather there were no quiet periods

They didn't know how popular Frozen was in December????? Seriously???? People were paying $300+ for a $20 Olaf doll this past Christmas.

And if they insist on doing something within the 180 days, at least make it a 6 days a week thing so people who want to avoid it can do so. If they can cut the MSEP or Wishes on certain nights, they should give us the same luxury at DHS.

I won't claim to be an authority, but isn't it the most successful Disney film since Lion King? I thought I read a report that it actually grossed more than Lion King. Should anyone really be surprised that Disney wants to continue to invest in the franchise? There's obviously demand out there.

I'm a 45 year old woman with a 12 year old daughter, so trust me, I'm not their target market. I did watch the movie when it came out on DVD. It was not life-changing, but it was a sweet, very well-done movie.

I have talked to a friend of mine who was so frustrated at the lack of Elsa dresses for her 5 year old, that she broke down and made one herself (and she's not a seamstress). I watched my 5 and 8 year old nieces swooning whenever "Let it Go" was played at a birthday party. I read the reports on these boards of the crazy wait times to meet Anna and Elsa. I'm not immersed in it, but I know it's a phenomenon.

Disney would be crazy not to capitalize on its wild success. You can't please everyone, but it seems as though Disney is probably pleasing many with these new Frozen appearances/attractions. Again, I'm not their target market, but it all sounds pretty fun to me. :confused3

Wrong on both accounts. The revised crowd predictors have gone up for my entire vacation for every park, not just DHS. Prior to Frozen being announced our WORST day was a 3, now our BEST day is a 4 our worst is a 6.

Was watching the TP wait times app closely yesterday for DHS. TSMM was at 65 minutes two minutes after opening and RaRC was in its usual 45-70 minute wait all day

A movie that has just come out being popular and selling merchandise is not the same as the same movie six months later having an even bigger fanbase being one of the highest grossing movies and it's M&G being the most popular attraction in all the parks.

Monsters University, Planes, Frankenweenie, Lone Ranger & Maleficent all came out within the last 2 years as well. Did you accurately predict how popular or not each film or franchise would be?

If you have booked a table at a restaurant which adds a new dish that causes it to become busy, you don't get to complain because you preferred it as an empty restaurant.
