After Matthew Perry died on Oct 28th, the Friends cast released a public statement on People .com:

"We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family," their statement reads. "There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss."
"In time we will say more, as and when we are able," the statement continues. "For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."

It's been three weeks and the cast has collectively, yet separately, spoken about their dear friend via Instagram.

I thought some of you may want to read what they wrote.

(If the Instagram pages don't automatically appear, click on each box.)

Matt LeBlanc was the first:

Then Courteney Cox:

David Schwimmer has said in the past that when the writers of Friends would have writers' meeting for episodes, Matthew was often the only cast member invited in to join them to tighten up some of the dialogue and add some funny lines, as only he could do.

Lisa Kudrow:

Jennifer Aniston:
Matthew said in his book and in an interview with Diane Sawyer that while the whole cast first suspected, then knew he had an alcohol problem, it was Jennifer Aniston who confronted him about it. From ET .com, "He told Sawyer that Aniston remained in close contact with him during those dark times. "She was the one that reached out the most," Perry said. "You know, I'm really grateful to her for that."

I don’t think it’s fair to say finally. They need time to grieve and process this enormous loss, and it sucks that people are demanding that they put out deeply personal messages when it’s barely been two weeks.

There’s no way I could be a celebrity because I’d be cancelled daily for telling fans to bugger off.

Where are you getting the idea they weren't ready to speak? 🤷‍♀️ They had already put out a joint statement that they weren't ready to talk and that there will be lots once they do come back. So, they could have taken more time if they had wanted to. Courteney even said above she has more moments to share later when she's ready.

So, this is actually the first and it won't be the last and final time they talk about Matthew.

They each made separate statements within hours of each other, so it's likely they had also jointly decided to post at this time, together. Had one of them needed more time, like a month or two, they probably would have all jointly waited for that last person, so that person wasn't singled out.

I think you are projecting how you'd feel onto them. I get it. Many of us are feeling deeply about this loss. But, the fact is they did make statements. I re-posted them for those who are interested and ready to read their tributes to and about someone who created a character dear to many of us.

Not to turn what they wrote into something negative.

I have removed the word "finally". It was MY description, not theirs.
