The Frickles Family goes to Disney! How to Valet Park & Make $100! LAST chap p18!

I am a huge fan of the Muppets! I was bummed we didn’t see it last time. The Swedish Chef and Beaker are my favorite characters ever! I do a pretty mean impression of the Swedish Chef.

Ok I am DED. Now. 'Cause I can so totally picture you doing an impression of the Swedish Chef. :rotfl:

The Fantasmic theater is huge. I would have been more than a little freaked out in your shoes. How cool that it all worked out and you got to enjoy the show.

We left Fantasmic with the masses and I thanked my lucky stars that I wasn’t standing at the exit scanning the crowds for Mr. Frick. Could you imagine? Shudder. I got so worked up reliving what I wrote yesterday that it wasn’t funny.

On to better times!

After leaving the show, we took the crew on back to POR. Mr. Frick was ready to watch some football (sweet guy, he had given up his favorite Saturday ritual to run around the pool and the parks all day…he even missed his Bama boys, but I don‘t think it mattered because they didn‘t win anyway. Ouch.), the boys were ready to sit on their beds and play with their game boys and I was ready to go and meet my sweet Dis friends!!! I took a quick shower, tried my darndest not to look tired and worn out and I threw on my clothes and my party shoes. I had called Horsey and asked her where they were. She told me they were still at the Poly and the plans were to watch Wishes from the beach and if I hurried I could make it. I tried my best to get out the door quickly. I informed Mr. Frick about my plans for the night and told him I was very uncertain about what time I would be back because we might stay out late. He was cool with it all and we decided that I should drive our car rather than taking the bus. I did not want to be on the bus by myself at night and I was unsure about how to get to the Poly on the bus system anyhow. I also knew this meant that I would be a good girl and not have too much to drink or stay out too late since I was driving.

After getting lost two times, jumping three curbs, tearing up Disney grass and dangerously crossing six lanes of Disney entrance traffic, I finally made it to the Poly. Don’t ask.

I knew I was going to valet park. Mr. Frick gave me extra money to do so. I didn’t want to be in a dark parking lot by myself at night. I try to avoid doing that if I can.

I pulled up to the Poly valet and got out of my car. I asked the CM who came to take my keys how the deal worked. Was I supposed to pay now or when I picked up my car? The CM told me, “Well, it will not cost you anything except for what you want to tip.” Wow. I started wondering why I had never valet parked at Disney before. It was free, except for the tip. Sweet. I gave the CM a $4.00 tip, which I thought was very fair, and I knew I would tip him again when I picked my car up.

Since I had on my party shoes, I couldn’t run through the lobby even though I really wanted to. I was ready to put some faces with some names and laugh in person with my crazy, sweet friends! Horsey called me and asked me where I was. I told her I was about to be at the volcano pool and she said that she would come and meet me. Next thing I know, I see two gorgeous girls, Jamal and Horsey! It was good to see sweet Horsey again and be with her!!! Jamal and I hugged and I thought about how glad I was to finally meet this sweet girl (and she has the most beautiful skin ever)! Jamal and I had pm’d each other a good deal because we were both interested in going to the meet but had some concerns about how it would all come together for us. It was so neat to finally be there with her! I’ve been to Disney with her before, but only through her Trip Report, which by the way you should read if you haven’t!!! Jamal and I had spoken on the phone a couple of weeks before the meet, and I told her that when she first started posting I thought she was a male. I had to pm Horsey and ask her if Jamal was male or female because I just couldn’t get her screen name. It was funny.

We made our way to the beach and I got to meet the rest of the wonderful crew! Let me tell you, parts of this night were foggy for me. A lot was going on, people were leaving, pictures were being taken, decisions on what to do next were being made….but here is what I remember.

I met Sher! She is the most spirited Disser I know and she is just precious! She is a little thing with a whopping big personality! She is writing a TR…The Bold and the Beautiful….you should read it!

I met Grammy! Grammy has cracked me up since day one. She is one of the funniest Dissers I know! Grammy is a hot little young thing. Don’t let her screen name fool you! She has been sweet to post here on my TR a lot. I hope she’ll write a trip report!

I met Ash! Ash is tall and gorgeous! Finally someone my height! Ash and I had sent a pm to each other early on when I found out she was visiting my hometown. She is a doll and super sweet! Please check out her TR, Dorkapalooza! In fact, I am going to steal some pictures from her TR in a minute!

I met YAK!! YAK has been my buddy from the early stages of Dissing! We discovered that we both have a child that suffers from the dreaded ‘Peanut Allergy’. She has bought us a ton of ‘peanut free’ snacks for Lil Frick since Canada is ahead of the game when it comes to providing favorite foods that haven’t been anywhere near a nut, like granola bars, smarties (like M&M’s) and Kit Kats. She has done a lot for me and I appreciate it a ton P! Yak gave me a goody bag…which included a mini notebook and a pen so I could become an official TR reporter. Look YAK, I got the hint! I’ve already told you ten times to read Yak’s TR, so I’ll make it eleven.

I met the most finer 89er KPK89! The Meanest Mother in the World!!! (go and find her TR too…it is great!!!) KPK is awesome!!!! She made me a bag tag for my backpack! (I love it K! I loved you too! ) What a sweetheart to go to the trouble of making a bag tag for me after I raved over the one she made for herself! Thanks K!

I met Haley!!! Hi Haley! Haley looked stunning in a black dress! She is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside! Haley did a lot of planning for this whole sha-bang! She is a sweetie!

I met Drebert and Lacto!!! They have an awesome TR out there as well!! The BergBerts! Drebert looked great in her Maelstrom is a Fastpass shirt! It reminded me of why we were all there! That little phrase kept us coming back and giggling! It definitely is a fastpass! Lacto was easy to spot due to his lack of hair on top! He was such a good sport because we had always talked about rubbing his head for good luck. I must not have rubbed it good enough that night. You’ll find out why I say that in a minute. Here we are giving it a good rub…

poly.jpg

Left to right in front we have Haley, Horsey, Lacto, Sher and Yak
Left to right in back is Ash, me, Grammy and Jamal.
Hey Grammy! Guess what! The red eye reduction was on! You could have opened your eyes! You too Horsey and Jamal!

I talked to some spouses and gabbed with the girls a bit before the party broke up. I asked Horsey what she was going to do and she said “I’m with you. I’ll go out with you if you want!” Sweet! I wasn’t ready to go back. For me, the party had just started and I knew I wouldn’t have much of a chance to really hang out with these sweet girls later in my trip. I said I was ready to hit the town and would gladly drive us wherever we wanted to go. Haley was in! Sher was in! Jamal tried to be in, but she was a bit under the weather and opted to go on back to her room. The plan was to go to Pleasure Island! We had heard it was packed, but we decided to go anyway because we were itching to hear some 80’s tunes and plus I had never been to PI before!

We went to the valet station to retrieve my keys and get the second half of the party started. A sweet little CM guy was there by himself. He looked for my keys. Couldn’t find them. I spelled my last name for him. Didn’t help. They weren’t under the S section. I spelled my first name for him. Didn’t help. They weren’t under the C section. Hmmm. He went through the whole alphabet. Didn’t help. They weren’t there.

He was looking a little panicky because there was a small crowd of people needing their cars and he said “Who parked your car.” I told him an older gentleman and he said, “Manny”. He called for help. A girl from the Poly office came out to help him. He explained to her that he couldn’t find my keys and she began to dig. She looked through every letter of the alphabet again. Nothing. Sher, Horsey, Haley and I were ready to roll and get our groove on. Standing there watching them go through every letter again was painful. I would walk away, Sher, Horsey or Haley would go and check the situation. I heard the office girl say “Where is Manny?” The valet CM said “We don’t know.” Ugh. Now it was time to get a little concerned.

They asked me what my key chain looked like. I described it to them and then they started to open every envelope that had keys. I didn’t want to stand there any longer. I think we had been there for about 15 minutes already and I asked the office girl if they would buy us a round of drinks while we waited. She said she would be glad to and she handed me $30. We went up to the Poly bar kind of laughing about the whole situation and kind of getting riled up about it as well. What if they never found my keys? We were leaving for the beach in two days. That is when I decided to shrug it off. If I got stuck at Disney while waiting on some keys, it wouldn’t be too bad. Especially since I would be stuck at the Poly! We all ordered a drink as well as a round of shots. Yeah, this was a shot-worthy moment!

Up next: What happened to the keys and a funny night out with a great group of girls!

OK - So you've made $30 already. I'm guessing that you get some kind of meal for your trouble.

And YIKES!!! Losing your keys? I have to admit - valet parking always makes me a little anal. It's a control issue, I know.

I love hearing this story. What a fun time!! Getting to meet all the girls and hanging out together. Looking forward to some pics!!

By the way, I am in the market for a new digital camera. What kind do you use? Your pics are awesome!!

NM :sunny:

I'm glad you don't sweat the small stuff... :lmao:

I would have freaked if my car was missing. I guess after thinking you lost hubby in a crowd this was nothing. Besides you had great company to wait with you.

I liked all the commericals for the other trip reports. I agree they should be read too. You guys bring the funny.

Wow Frick - two chapters!

The Swedish Chef and Beaker are my favorite characters ever! I do a pretty mean impression of the Swedish Chef.

Now this I'd like to see!

:lmao:

Your story about Fantasmic stressed me out! (But I could see myself doing the same ;) )

Now, I'm puzzled about this. :confused3

We valet park the car always (because the YAK's are lazy, especially when it's 110F.... :teeth: ) and it costs $7. They park it, give you a little ticket and you pay when you leave. I did this at AKL and BW this same trip.
The thing they don't tell you and the guy at AKL did, was that if you valet more than once during a day you can transfer your valet stub to the other resort, therefore you don't have to pay $7 again.

So, I'm wondering if "Manny" forgot the rules in the "CM Valet Parking" handbook????

Huuuummmmm???

And thanks for the kind words  It was so great to finally meet you too!

Looking forward to the next chapter!

Splitting up without a back plan *shaking my head and laughing*

Sure glad that worked out for ya :)

Now I'm waiting impatiently to hear about the keys too.

Man, you can write!

I'm trying to catch up on some other TRs and I'm up to Ch 7 of yours. A few things I wanted to comment on before I go return the tuna melt I got from the deli in my building.

My wife is a big fan of the taco salad at PORiverside as well. They do look good but virtually nothing would pull me away from a cheesesteak. You should have tried one. Mmmm. Good stuff.

Not as good as a funnel cake, but it's a different kind of good.

I'm glad you found the back way from your mansion to the Main Building. PORiverside is big but it can be easily navigated. This from a guy who hates to walk more than 10 feet.

As for wearing Orange: did it not occur to you that black was also a halloween color? You won't find ANY orange in my closet. And no one could make me wear it!

I've initiated an investigation through the Alumni Enforcement office. Mr. Frick should expect a certified letter in the next week to ten days.

:moped:

Frick!!!!

Manny, Manny, Manny!!!

Here's the best piece of advice. EVER. From all of us. To all of you.

If you do valet park your car. Make SURE you don't hand your keys to someone named MANNY!!!!!

I'm glad to finally hear the details on the whole key thing. And i agree with chris - i bet that $30 didn't go far at all. Not at Disney.

Enjoying the TR.

Blessings!

Frickles........I'm up to MGM day but have to take a break for now. We were at POR Sept. 23-30 so we were probably in the food court having our farewell cheesesteak while you and horsegirl were meeting by the pool. I noticed a lot of similarities between you and me but most notably our inability to say no to lots of volunteer opportunities. Like you I served on the board at the club, PTA board and exec. board. When I ended my rotation I got this plaque....thought you might get a kick out of it........

Frickles, my sweet, this is the MOST AWESOME report! Your voice shines through, and you are sooooo funny! Thank you for the nice comments about all of us, and the free advertising for our trippies!

Let's see....what did I want to comment on from the last 3 or 4 chapters??

Horsey - you are so right about her. She is a true GEM. Love the pics of the two of you.

Your boys on the boat - SO cute

It is rare to have a photo of all of us. I returned the favor for her and got a snapshot of her and her son. (Of course we get a family photo on the day I go to the park all skanky.)
You, my dear, couldn't look "skanky" if you tried!!!

The sunglasses - OMG!!!!! Glad you managed to rescue them, and hope you were able to sanitize and salvage them later!

Fantasmic - I was feeling your stress! The number one rule at WDW, I've discovered, is: Don't separate unless BOTH of you have working cell phones!!! Glad it worked out!

Poly - So fun to relive that night...yet again!!!

Frick, you are so beautiful and funny and a great writer and photographer to boot!! I am enjoying this report tremendously! Can't wait for the rest!!!

Love ya!

I been seperated from loved ones at Disney and it was not fun. It was the most stressfull two hours of my life. There were 16 of us there the week after Thanskgiving. My BIL is a workaholic and my DSIS on this trip pawned her two girls off on me a lot. It was the first trip my parents and siblings and I have ever gone on besides grandmas house. It was my parents first trip to DW since I was 4. Any we were at MGM as well and remember workaholic BIL, well he usually has his blackberry glued to him. NOT today, he forgot it in the room and I did not realize it. Anyhow they offered to take DD with them for a little while since they did not want to ride TT or RNR--I know that is just not right. Well about an hour later I run into my DSIS but I do not see BIL,DD or my nieces. Oh, they split up so the girls could ride Star Tours again and she could shop. OK--not a problem. We decide to meet back up in about 30 min at the hat. I get there and there is DSIS , but no BIL or my DD. She tried calling him, but he never answered. At this point it is aout an hour and we are waiting and waiting and waiting. I am becoming angrier and angrier because they never established a meeting place and I now find out the she remembers he left his phone at OKW. So now I just start going to all the places that you could go with two 7 yr olds. An hour and half later he deicded to go to a phone and call DSIS and we meet up, but for 2.5 hours I could not find my DD and DBIL is not the most attentive person. Don't get me wrong he is a great dad, but he did not get to keep my DD the rest of the trip. After all of this we find out that in about the 4 hours he had her they did 1 ride. She was ticked! We learned if you do not have your cell phone we don't split up. We tried the meeting place, but it does not always work--especially if one of us is late.

:rotfl2: This was almost one of our first pms. :rotfl2: I knew I liked you instantly! You woman are FOF! FULL ON FUNNY!

Jam, I never told you this! :lmao: Guess the funny frick filled you in! :rotfl:

What I would like to add to this is it was ALOT longer than 15 minutes before Frick started bargaining for drinks. Try 35.... :smooth: ANd this Fricky Frick was as patient, and gracious and cool about the whole things as anyone could be. She worked it to our advantage. I was impressed. We ordered Lapu Lapu's which are $15 Hawaiian wonders in real pineapples. We also decided on shots. We asked for the bartender's choice as Frick wasn't keen on my kamakazi suggestion. We were brought these elegant raspberry frothy treasures in stemmed shot glasses. They were spectacular. Who do you think was done first? Yep. FRICK! She has gusto! And a spice for life. No one I'd rather be stranded at the Poly with. Haley and Sher, too. We had a blast, even if we were missing valuable disco time at 8 Tracks at Pleasure Island. Sipping yummy drinks at the Poly bar laughing our patooties off was as good a time as one could ask for. Take life as it comes....

Thanks for the great 2 installments Frick! I can't wait to hear how it turned out. Wait. I was there. Spacey bondes unite! :yay: :teeth:

ahh I'm so anxious to see what happens. That stinks that they lost your keys but at least they bought you guys a round of drinks to start off your night! :cool1:

You sweet little Frick!! I will join my Grammy in getting on my knees (excuse the cracking sound!) to thank you for those kind kind words :worship: :worship:

I soo remember our PMs about whether or not we should go to the meet. Aren't we glad we did???????? :cheer2: :cheer2:

Jamal is one of the many nicknames you might receive if people think your name rhymes with Amy (it doesn't) and they are not at all sure how to say your name! It's Jami-rhymes-with-Tammy :thumbsup2 .
Many years ago a friend christened me Jamal after Jamal Wilkes, NBA player :smooth: .
I do not play basketball but the name stuck.

ITA with all you sad about our friends in this chapter!!! Aren't we the lucky ones!?!?!?

Reading these chapters makes me wish I had felt like going to PI with you girls :sad2: Since I had to get Grammy, Grampy, and Yak into a cab and back to Pop :smokin: , reason prevailed.

Your story is warm, hilarious, and addictive!

Love it and LOVE you, my Southern neighbor!!!
