The fox article a link to read it.

He told me I can not be so passionate about it and it is not the reporters fault, also not to directly attack anyone so here is the new and improved responce,, how does this sound?

To the editor,
I was not going to respond to the article published regarding the fox destroyed on my property. However, due to overwhelming positive response from people in the neighborhood, and in general I do feel a need to clarify a few items.

First of all my husband and I chose to not participate in the article because we did not feel a need to be inflammatory towards our neighbors or a need to defend ourselves for calling the police.
However, several untruths were published so I do feel the need to set the record straight.
Unlike other individuals living on this street we are not hunters, we do not own a gun. The animal who held us captive was put down out of necessity, not for sport.

The kitts were born in March (in my back yard- there were five) and by June they were full-grown. The fox that was shot was not 4-5 pounds but larger.

Due to the situation of the homes on the cul-de-sac there is no possible way that from the stated back yard that an individual could see into our woods.
I made sure that my own son went in the house when it had to be done and wanted no child to have to witness that. No child did.

I had made several calls about the fox to the police and environmental police over a two week period. When I approached the neighbors to warn them - a week before the shooting, not the day before - I told them I was concerned for their children because this one fox had become very aggressive. At that time no one disagreed with me.

And, by the way, how can a hunter be upset about this?!?! Apparently he doesn't have a problem killing animals for his own entertainment, but you can't have one killed when it's a danger to your family?!?!?

Ditto. What a hypocrite!

Doesn't anyone on the DIS hunt? I know that my brother-in-law, who is an avid hunter, would take offense to some of this. I don't understand his thinking at all but he protects animals by donating money and time while he still hunts deer. It's too confusing to me. I do know that he would be fully in favor of destroying an animal that endangered anyone though.

Not sure if Im reading that part wrong but arent you writing because your neighbors havent been positive about the situation

I took that part out. the final version is below

Due to the situation of the homes on the cul-de-sac, and the large amount of trees , there is no possible way that from another yard that an individual could see into our woods and clearly observe the animal being destroyed.

There were no objections made. We feel sorrow that the kitt we had so enjoyed had to be destroyed, however, it’s hostile change in behavior was threatening our family and we were concerned it was rabid.

Ann, I would call the reporter. She wrote a good piece originally. You could try trusting her to get your story out.

I didn't read all of your letters, but make sure you add about the cow hoof and the taunting from your neighbors too.

hang in there

Dh didn't want me to put anything in about the hoof or harrassment. I just wanted to clarify no children were "in shock" over seeing this as they did not see it. I am almost regretting writing it now though ( I sent it already) as they will probably never let it die now.

I hope this blows over soon for you.

{{{{{HUGS}}}} to you Ann and your family. It's too bad this had to happen. Hopefully soon the neightbors will get over it.

to check if I really wrote the responce. (responcible of them :) ) I told the woman I was regretting it now as I am sure it will just get them more worked up. She said I can tell them not to print it. I said thanks. Hopefully now it will blow over. At the grocery store today three people told me they would have done what I did. If my responce was printed then I know the neighbors would all feel compelled to respond and it would go on and on. Hopefully it will now just die.
