Got chinese food last night and had two fortune cookies, both cookies said the SAME thing "Good news will come to you by mail". hmmmmm....

So, today I opened my e-mail up and finally my elderly FIL has decided to give up driving (after taking two senior driving tests and not passing them!!) and has asked me to sell the car he gave me, which he had asked for back a couple of months ago. I am so relieved!!!!!

I feel bad that he cannot drive anymore, but am very happy that he will not be on the road anymore, as he should have given up driving a couple of years ago. This has been a big struggle and headache since January for DH and I, but luckily it has been resolved.

fortune cookies have a special place in my heart. i sent 2 fortunes to my top college choices' admissions committees (had to photocopy them, but still cute). i was at lunch one day stressing over how i could have written one of my essays better, and i got 2 fortune cookies. the first fortune said "your hard work will pay off" and the second said "good news is on it's way to you". i decided to send them into the schools to which i was applying with a little back story and some cheesy joke about how i hoped they brought me good fortune (haaaa i'm so funny), and voila.. a few weeks later, multiple acceptances came at me :)

Good news! Such a worry with Seniors.

I too have had some fortune cookies speak to me. I was working as a teachers assistant, trying to get hired on as a teacher. I went to an interview for a 3rd grade teaching job. The style of interview was 4 people vs me. They would take turns asking me questions, take notes, but show no emotion or chat about anything. They explained that was the style, but it felt terrible. I was so upset when I left, knew I didnt get the job, went home and cried before going back to work. Then we went out to lunch, me and the teachers from my current job. They tried to make me feel better. When the fortune cookies came, mine basically said "you got the job". ;) well, probably more like "good news in on the way to you" or something like that. That afternoon I got the call that I got the job!

Several years later DH came home from work early, which he never does, and told me he'd been offered a job overseas, in the Middle East. So this was a big decision that I had to make, because he was ready to go! I went to a meeting at church as planned and was surprised to see that they'd changed the catered meal from Italian to Chinese! I ended up sitting by a lady who had just moved back after living overseas for several years. Then the fortune cookies came and mine basically said "go for it.". It still took me a few weeks to decide, but we went. It was the best decision for our family!

I had one say "A Pleasant Surprise Awaits You..." Found out the next day I was expecting DS1.

Timing, Written in the stars, who knows. He has that fortune in his baby book though.

My fortune cookie story:

Was dating my DH at the time, it was like the 2nd or 3rd date and we went out for Chinese food. My fortune cookie said, "you will be married within a year." I remember him asking me what mine said and I hesitated because I felt weird telling him - too early to be talking about marriage! LOL! Well, it did make for an awkward moment, but we laughed it off. But thirteen months later we were married!! We still get a good laugh about that one!
