Hi all,

We spent probably the best 10 days of our lives (since we had kids) at the Fort a few years back. We were in tents, with a 3 and 6 year old.

Currently we are booked for 12 nights in a DVC resort, but the kids have asked to go back to the Fort instead. The wallet certainly doesn't mind. This time we'll have a 9 and 6 year old, plus a 16 month old toddler.

Are we crazy? We'd love to stay in Cottontail Curl again. Last time we had site 1513, and it was bliss.

But again, are we crazy? Tent camping the first two weeks of December with a toddler?

I'd rather camp with a toddler than have one in a hotel room. At the campground, they will have room to wander, well supervised, and new things all the time too keep them busy - bugs, birds, etc. I like to bring a collapsable play yard so they have a defined area to play in while I cook.

Have fun!

We tried that when my oldest was a toddler. Shortly after that we bought a pop-up. :) She really didn't like tent camping, but absolutely loved her pop up!! So much so that she was VERY sad to see it go last month when we bought our travel trailer. She liked the bigger camper, but wanted to keep the pop up. Well, since storage was an issue, we gave it to a nice family we know so they could make some nice memories too. She was OK with that since she knew the little girls getting it, but she still misses it. Funny what kids will get attached to.

A tip a colleague just shared for camping with younger kids that might get up during the night... tie a bell to the zipper of the tent. :thumbsup2

Have a wonderful trip!
