We were just there in February and spoke to the consultant about the renovations to the campground. (We were camping in the 800 loop and he was walking around taking notes of the different sites.) He said that it was necessary to clear the area because the aggressive sweet potato vine was killing all of the trees.
He confirmed all of the renovations that have been mentioned in previous posts, so it looks like they're true.
He also said that the current dog park, Waggin Tails, is a trial to see how it is received. There may be additional dog parks coming in the future with separate areas for small and big dogs in other loops.
