That evening we ate at my favorite restaurant, the Flying Fish. For this meal only my friend came. Her son & husband decided to eat at ESPN (they had better food). My dh was not happy as he was the only boy in the whole group and felt a little left out. I felt bad for him. My friend only ordered an entree since she was still stuffing her face at the concierge at BCV. She was pretty much full our entire trip. Also, she is very price conscious. I noticed they ate more at the "all you can eat" than at a sit down meal which is fine. However, dh and I have different dining ideals. We like to be waited on and don't love the buffets or all you can eat as much. We also like ordering each course where they were too full to do that so, I felt like they were waiting around for us. We still had fun with them but I didn't realize how much the food part would be a problem. Funny thing is that she would never stay in a value either. They are only cheap on certain things. Hard to explain!
On to the flying fish... For beverage I ordered the Pineapple Upside down. I love this drink and was happy it was still on the menu:
I could have drank 10 of these but I didn't want to seem like a pig...
Dh ordered the Skip Jack Draft Beer. He was sitting too far away and pouting for me to take a picture....
My friend ordered iced tea and they brought out the lemon on a plate. I thought it looked really pretty...
Also, on the table they had a bread basket. It was just average bread... not too exciting...
DD8 had the seasonal fruit with yogurt. She really like it especially since the fruit came on sticks.
DD11 had Romaine lettuce salad with ranch. She loves Salads like this so, it was right up her alley...
I had the daily soup which I believe was the tortilla soup. It was good but not wonderful. It was lacking the meat. I make tortilla soup at home and I add chicken so, I was missing that.
Dh ordered the seasonal salad with vingriette. It was a welcomed change as we were all in desparate need of vegetables at this point. It was very good and I had a sample...
For my main course & my friend, we ordered the Potato Wrapped Snapper with the wine sauce on leeks. OMGOSH... everytime I eat this I think, I've died and gone to heaven. It is very good.
Dh ordered Our Chef's Thunder: "Surf and Surf" with Far Eastern Influences -- Panko-Sesame See-crusted EPCOT Land Pavillion Tilapia, Florida Rock Shrimp, and Tempura Soft-shell crab, Tiny Carrot, Snow Pea, Green Bean and Honshemeji Mushroom, and Lotus Root Stir-fry, Lemongrass, White Soy, Ginger and Wasabi Butter Emulsion.... He loved it and thought it was a great combination of asian influence.
dd11 ordered the skewered chicken with roasted potatoes & veggies. She loves the children's menus at high end restaurants because they usually have one or two items of real food that isn't pizza, hot dog or hamburger.
dd8 ordered the butter noodles with parmesan cheese. She loved it...
For dessert... both dh and I got the creme brulee. This isn't our favorite restaurant to get desserts. Not sure why. The desserts don't have that WOW taste. So, we decided to go with something safe like creme brulee. It was perfect. It came with fruit and a cookie:
Both dds ordered Sorcerer Mickey's Milk Chocolate Cauldron - fun "skewer" of fudge brownie, marshmallow, strawberry and Angel Food Cake. They loved it and thought it was fun to eat. Very filling dessert....
This is one of our all time favorite restaurants at Disney. We will be coming back in the future.
