The "flavor" of FW...?

Reread your post and appreciate that you recognize that not all Florida campers are jerks. My comments were not directed at you or anyone in particular, however, there were several posts that suggested the problems seemed to come from the "Sunshine State" tags.

In regards to these tags, I must also agree with a previous poster that stated many of these tags are from folks who rent vehicles while in our beautiful state and are not Florida residents.

From earlier posts, it also seems that I am not the only one concerned with being erroneously categorized due to my liscense plate.

Happy Camping

I think its the same phenomenon where all the bad drivers are from other states. :rotfl:

Just got back (3/24-4/2), stayed in 807 (preferred pet loop). Didn't notice any extreme partying or rudeness, just the typical 'too tired to think about what I'm doing zombies' (lol, that included me by week's end).

To help back up the 'local plates' theory, you'll see a similar phenomenon at any popular campground with both locals and travelers. The OP's example just happened to be Florida, where Disney is. I've seen the same thing at Jordan Lake south of Raleigh-Durham, NC (1000+ campsites on a 46,000 acre lake). Most of the big crowd, heavy partiers were obvious locals. Doesn't mean everyone from NC is a rude party animal, just means that the 'local weekend warrior' impact was in effect.

You'll probably find that most prevalent at Disney when it's mid to low season (lower rates), and a weekend or three day weekend.

Moving Target, back in NC

We were there exactly the same days as you movtarget, we cruised around on the cart a few times, what does your rig look like ?

Haven't gotten the pics out of the camera yet, but here's my Jayco Kiwi 23b (hybrid - part trailer, part pop-up) from 2001 and 2003 (700 loop both times).

Had my conversion van parked sideways across the parking pad to get it to fit (so, in my opinion, 700 loop has more room per site than 800 loop).

Moving Target, back in NC

Hey Moving Target and BDD-

It is a small world after all. I just got back from a week at the Fort. We were there from 3/25 to 4/1 in site 809! I recognize your rig MT! In fact, the DW admired your patio lights! We were the site right next to the tetherball court. I believe that you were on the other side of the tetherball court, next to the sidewalk. I have a Coleman Utah CP pop-up, and out tow vehicle is a dark blue Excursion. We have Florida tags, since we are Florida residents. As far as I know, we didn't do anything to bother anyone!

I have to say the weather last week was the best we have ever had in all of our years of visiting the Fort! It has been years since we stayed on the 800 loop. I don't know when it became a preferred loop. It actually was one of the first loops we stayed on back when we were tent campers. I remember having the site right in front of the comfort station. It was like ten feet from our tent door to the ladies' room door. :rotfl2: I had forgotten what a nice loop this is- I may just have to request it next time.

I am sorry that I did not get a chance to meet any Dis Board members. For some reason, I just don't feel comfortable giving out too much info about when and where we will be camping. On this trip, the DW was only with us for one night, and it was me and my DD's alone some of the time.

And, BDD, aren't you the one who was lobbying for them to play The Country Bears movie at the campfire? I hope you were there on Wednesday night! It is one of my favorite movies, too, but the DD's really don't like it. What do they know?

That was me lobbying for the movie. We were there Wednesday night, in fact Ms Sundee commented about it being our movie. It has only been played at FW twice now. The first time was during the Christmas season but we had to cancel that trip because of an illness. I wish they would get it in the rotation but for now it is our special treat.

It pays to ask the right people. :thumbsup2
