sher...I know...what was I thinking?

But honestly....I dont think I could have relaxed! LOL!
Ok...Onto
Day 5: COZUMEL and THIS DOESN'T SUCK!
I'm up even earlier today at 5:30am and I take my notebook up to deck 10 to have my coffee and write some of my trip down. (that's why day 4 was so detailed).

then head for the front to see the sunrise.

(somehow that just never gets old!)
We all get ready to go and pack a bag for Cozumel and head up to Topsiders for breakfast. We see Kevin's friend, Pairoj, and chat with him for a little while. I was asking him about his family in Thailand and it just brought tears to my eyes to listen to him talk about his daughter and how he missed her. (he hadn't seen her in months). You just don't realize sometimes how lucky you are for the life you have and sometimes hearing things like that just bring it all home for me. We really enjoyed him and we did find him on the last night at dinner to show our appreciation for him even though he was not our regular server. He always went out of his way to say hi to the kids and tickle Kevin and make him laugh. People like him really make the
disney cruise really special.
ok, back to Cozumel.....we had an appointment for the dolphin swim at 3pm at Chanakaab Park but I had read online about the beach conditions with the rocks and hard to access water, so we decided to go to Paradise Beach for the day first. We went to the Buena Vista theater for a tender ticket (we missed the first boat....darn)....and I thought it was very well organized how they sat you in rows to line you up for the tender. We chatted with Natalie from UK while we waited. She was very nice and quite funny.
Finally, we got the tender (much nicer boat than Grand Cayman) and got ashore by 10:30am. We headed to the taxi stand across the street and waded through several people trying to get you do do different tours...glass bottom boats, snorkeling, etc....but I didnt find them to be overly intrusive or bothersome. They all took a polite no thanks for an answer. We grabbed a taxi after a small wait to Paradise Beach which cost $13. It's the most beautiful drive along the ocean with incredible blue green water but you can also see all of the destruction and reconstruction from the hurricane.
We arrive at Paradise Beach and it's gorgeous. We are greeted and told that we can use the chairs/umbrellas for free ...they just ask that we buy a couple of drinks. We decide to buy the wristbands also for $8 per person. This includes use of the water trampoline, the climbing iceberg that they have, kayaks, swim floats and mats, and snorkeling gear. They lead you right to your chairs and find you a swim mat. We pass on drinks for the moment so we can take a swim and just look around.
The kids want to do the trampoline right away but it is pretty deep to get out there (over my head ...maybe 7 feet?) so I have to get Kevin out there on a raft. We were still pretty early so there weren't that many people there. Kevin had the whole trampoline to himself and Dan and I were waiting there for him to get done. Kaitlin was swimming around on her own.
all of a sudden we hear Kevin just laughing his head off.
Kev....what's so funny???? He laughs and shouts....
THIS DOESN'T SUCK at the top of his lungs!
(gee, wonder where he got that phrase from?)
I can't even get mad at him because Dan and I are laughing at him so hard.
Quite frankly, I think that made my whole trip right there. He was just so darn happy.
Both kids tried to do the iceberg climb thing but it was pretty difficult to climb so they didnt get very far. They liked just going up a little bit then sliding off. But again it was in deeper water so we made sure we stayed with them.
We go back to the beach and order some drinks. Margarita and Dos Equis plus smoothies for kids and we also get the most wonderul chips and salsa and guacamole. It was so good. (I'd give anything for a dish of that right now!)
Dan takes the kids kayaking for a little bit and I walk out to the end of the pier to get some pictures. It really is Paradise there.
We swam some more...ordered more 2 drinks and some sprite for the kids....some cheese quesadillas for kids and a veggie one for us. Our bar and food bill only came to $50 which was pretty darn cheap and it was all delicious.
We also did alittle bit of snorkeling there too but there really wasnt a whole lot of fish or coral to see.
They also had very nice restrooms with two outdoor showers there plus a gift shop which we didnt have time to visit. Plus an open air indoor bar/restaurant which was very nice. Around 1:30pm, it did start to get a little crowded so I would advise going early.
We got packed up and went to find a taxi to Chankanaab Park. It was about a 5 minute ride back towards the pier and cost us $10.
Next up....swimming with Dolphins.....
