Does it hold a magical place in your heart that others just can't touch?

I ask because my DH and I stayed at AKL on our first visit to WDW.

We had the most magical, perfect 2 weeks ever.

SO now whenver we think of planning another trip - even though we've stayed at other resorts since and loved them all - we both just want to book Jambo House all the time!

(Well, i would stay back at GF RPC - but I'd rather not bankrupt us :rotfl:)

I feel guilty for not trying other places too, but I just loooooooove AKL.

Are you the same with the first resort you stayed at?

We always stayed off-site til my parents got the DVC (then we stayed at Old Key West). But I can recall going to Poly for the (back then) only character breakfast...and I just love the place now. Would love to stay there but with five of us and me working in a school so always traveling in peak times- I just can't justify the cost.

My first stay was back in 1996 at the Villas at the Disney Institute.

It was my ffirst trip to Disney ever and I had my three older kids with me (the youngest wasn't even thought of yet!) so it'll always be a fond memory.

I still haven't been able to figure out what happened to the Villas? :confused3

Our first stay as a family was at the Contemporary. Although we had a wonderful time, the resort was/is not the one that has a special place near to our heart. The ones closest to our hearts would be AKL/Kidani and the Coronado.

Our first on-site stay was ASMO and I think that's why we love the values so much!!! It was a great first stay (and 2nd, and 3rd, etc...) :thumbsup2

The Poly. And yes, it will always be our favorite resort. But now with the DVC we don't stay there anymore. But we do visit every trip. :thumbsup2

The villas have been replaced by SSR

As a child we stayed twice at Poly. I would LOVE to stay there again and see just how dear to the heart it is. But when I think of the Poly, I do have a warm fuzzy spot in my heart for it.

As an adult, the first place I stayed at with my now husband (then boyfriend) was Coronado Springs. That holds nothing in my heart really. Though MK does. Seeing it as an adult with my future husband just really brings a tear to my eye.

As a family, our first hotel was All Star Sports. Again, warm fuzzy memories, but not necessarily the place.

We stayed at POR for the first time as a complete, family of five. I am not sure yet if that's goign to be our "home".

I guess we are still searching for our perfect hotel!

My first resort stay? No, not really. Years & years ago, my husband & I stayed at CBR. It was a nice resort & we had a great time, but we had both been to WDW many times before (just not the resorts), so there wasn't anything particularly memorable or special about our stay.

Now, our first trip with our son is different. We stayed at CR, they upgraded us to a two-bedroom CL suite, we were seeing WDW through our kid's eyes -- we definitely felt the "magic," and have a soft spot in our hearts for CR as a result.

1979. I was 5. We won a trip to Disney World and a brand new, 1979 Mustang. We had to go along with the package, which was a stay at TravelLodge in Kissimmee. All I remember are the lime green carpets.... so no it does not really hold a special place in my heart! :)

Beach Club 1995. That's the only time I stayed there, but have done the BCV several times. My fav by far is OKW.

Our first was POR when it was called Dixie Landings. It's still a big fave though we do stay all over. I'm like you when it comes to favorites on restaurant menus, though. I really want to try new things, but . . . I just can't!

Have fun at AKL (or wherever you end up.)

:)

Our first resort onsite was Wilderness Lodge. For many years we looked at it in a distance when we were on the ferry going to the Magic Kingdom. We were lucky enough to stay there for a week when my boys were 1, 4 and 7. It was Easter and the older boys did the egg hunt outside. We loved the resort and had a great time. Unfortunately we haven't been back since. That was such a magical visit! :)

Our first resort and many after that, was at the Contemporary....back in 1977 we started our madness....that was when there was "The Magic Kingdom Club"...we got discount thru them....we always stayed in the north garden wing....alot of trips......

We got offered on year to switch from the CR to the GF....and tried it.....didn't care for the GF at all but the WL just opened that trip and we went to check it out and it had to be for the next trip.....this broke the string of CR stays.....

Thru the years, and as of now, 46 trips to WDW, with our daughter doing the CP, then moving to Kissimmee and working corporately for Disney we've been blessed to try most of the deluxes many a time with CM discounts.....

Those were some memorable years and trips...sadly, she moved back to Ohio and got married and we've taken up residence for the last 10+ stays at our all time favorite resort...Wilderness Lodge.....

We do discuss the CR alot since we did many a trip there but the changes thru the years to the CR we not to our liking but our memories still remain..we take a walk thru every trip but it isn't like the CR of the 70's and 80's.....our hearts are with the WL, and with all our stays at the different deluxes, our search for the perfect resort is over....it's WL or nothing anymore....once you've had the best...why try anymore....just our favorite and opinion..

My family always stayed offsite... but my first onsite was with my husband (then boyfriend) at CBR in the Barbados section.

It was my first trip without a commando family, a dance team, or a marching band. Very nice, and a start to my planning addiction!!

My first Disney trip (in l982) we stayed offsite in the "Disney Village" - Grosvenor's.

My first Disney on-site trip (l987) we stayed at the Polynesian (when our older kids were little) and loved it!

Our first DIsney trip with our youngest kids we stayed at the GF - and thought we found our perfect match!

Now that we've been staying at BC/YC we KNOW we found our perfect match.

I wouldn't hesitate for a minute though to stay at either GF or the Poly!

Our first stay was back in 06 for our honeymoon at CBR and every stay after that has been at this resort. We really enjoy the Caribbean atmosphere and the pool area, however we are trying new places the next two trips (AKL AND BWV) and excited!
:cool1:  :thumbsup2

Poly! :thumbsup2 My Mom and Dad took us the year after MK opened. Only resort hotels at that time was Poly, FW, CR, and Disney Inn (now Shades of Green). And I know I am dating myself, but there were the individual tickets for each ride!! Anyone, remember? The "E" ticket was the best rides!

Been to all Deluxes and Mods, and I would say Poly and YC are our favs!

DD's 1st WDW trip HAD to be the Poly, at 15 mos location was perfect!

I stayed at Polynesian as a child with my family. I stayed again with my family, DH, DD and DS a few years ago. We stayed there because the Beach Club was doing renovations on SAB. We were disappointed because Beach Club sounded like our dream resort, but we thought the renovations would be intrusive. We LOVED the Poly and I remembered the lobby, smells, tonga toast etc... from my childhood. It was great to share those things with my children.

We did stay at BC the following year and thought it was nice, but not as good a fit for us as Poly. We then tried YC last year and loved it too (better for us than BC, not quite as good as Poly). This yr we are staying at the Contemporary. We are planning to try different deluxe resorts to change up our yearly trip to WDW. We have done Wilderness Lodge, too, and Swan and Dolphin. Even POR before kids. always great memories wherever we have stayed! But I would love to go back to the poly-- maybe because it was my first:love:
