The first Resort you stayed at?

Does it hold a magical place in your heart that others just can't touch?
,

The first on site resort we stayed at was the Poly. And no, it does not hold that magical place. It was ok. It was great to be at WDW. We had a wonderful time. But since then we have stayed at GF, the Swan, and POFQ. I would stay at any one of those 3 again, with the Swan being my favorite for its location and very reasonable rates. Some day we would like to stay at GF again, but just can't afford it now.

I would like to try the Yacht or Beach Club, or even the Boardwalk Inn or Dolphin. We really like the Boardwalk area.

Because we are a family of 5, we stayed offsite for our first two multi-day trips to WDW in 1996 and 1997. The least expensive WDW resort that would accommodate all of us was Dixie Landings (now Port Orleans Riverside) - and my husband didn't want to spend that much money. In April 1999, just my 3 kids and I drove to WDW. We stayed off-site the first 2 nights, then stayed at the newly-opened Toy Story section of All Star Movies the other 2 nights. We loved it, and I've been a fan of staying onsite ever since!

I first stayed at the Dolphin in Nov. 2000, and I was hooked! I didn't think anything could be better - until I stayed at the Swan a year later. The Swan is now my preferred resort, although I'll occasionally stay elsewhere to save money. (I stayed at All Star Music at the end of January with a great AP rate.)

Our first stay was the Polynesian in 2000. At 40 years I figured I waited long enough to justify the cost. Unfortunetly for my wallet we got hooked and stayed there for all our family trips with a few split stays to try the other resorts.

But now that I'm enjoying Epcot more I like the resorts along the Boardwalk.

The Polynesian will always hold a special place in our hearts.

First stay - on property - was at The Contemporary Resort, in the "Wing" that no longer exists (where Bay Lake Towers is now located). We have since stayed at every "Moderate" and "Deluxe" Resort, at least once, but have more stays at The Contemporary Resort, then all the rest combined. The best was a two-week stay, Club-Level with a "Magic Kingdom" view (years ago - two years prior to the opening of Animal Kingdom).
We enjoy the atmosphere of The Grand Floridian, the serenity of The Wilderness Lodge, and the ambiance of The Animal Kingdom Lodge... and our "second-choice" has always been The Beach Club... but "First-Love" will always be The Contemporary Resort.
P.S.: Unfortunately, we have never been happy with The Polynesian, yet I have no reason why.... I have no idea what it is about that Resort that doesn't interest me... I actually got married there (at "Sunset Point")... and we've stayed there twice... but it always ends up being way down on our list.... Sorry to all those who love it there.... :smickey:

:lovestruc As a very little girl, we went to the WDW - MK the month it opened & I was a Disney girl from day one :lovestruc

We stayed in the original contemporary hotel & seeing the monorail go right thru the hotel was amazing! :worship:

I will always remember that first of almost 50 trips to WDW :yay: It has grown tremendously from that first year - it is hard to imagine :goodvibes
