We'll switch it up, depending on when our flight arrives. If we arrive late in the day, we'll go to DTD for a relaxing meal and to gear up for the vacation. And if we're going during peak season, we'll choose based on what parks are supposed to be less crowded for a particular day. All other things being equal, though, we like to start with MK. We're traditionalists!

We usually take the early morning flight out and check into the hotel around 12:00. Then, we are off to MK. I'm not sure why, but we've made it a tradition for MK to be our first park.

We go to the Magic Kingdom first. The other parks are all great too, but there is just something more "Magical" about MK

It depends when we get there. This past trip we headed over to MK. This coming April we have non expiring tickets & I think we will head over to DTD & save a day of park tickets. We are staying at POFQ so the plan is to get there & get checked in & then take the boat to DTD for some eating & shopping then
head back to resort to unpack & get to bed so MK for us the 1st full day. ADR at Crystal Palace for 8:05!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I voted Epcot because our traditional first meal is Teppanyaki. Since we usually arrive mid-day, only do one park first nite usually. Next two trips, Teppanyaki will be down for rehab, it is possible that we will do AK first, hard to say!! :goodvibes

We don't have a first park, but since I realized my status of "Disney Nut" about a month ago, my first park would preferrably be the Magic Kingdom.

We are going in less than 2 weeks and will be going to MK first. My kids have never been so we definately want to take them there right after check in at CBR. :)

It just doesn't feel like we are at Disney until we go to MK. So, MK is usually our first park.

Depends on where we're staying... Last time we stayed at the Poly so we went to the MK. This time we're staying at the beach club so we're going to Epcot... We just want to get to the park ASAP :)

We were there in August and we started with MK and ended with MK. It really is Disney World to kids. It makes mine feel special.

When I was younger there was only the Magic Kingdom so it only feels natural to go there first. I have younger children and they don't really care about Animal Kingdom or EPCOT. Except for a few things in MGM, I would be perfectly happy to stay in the Magic Kingdom.

definitely magic kingdom.. it isn't really a disney vacation until i can walk down main street and see that gorgeous castle.. brings tears to my eyes every time :)

This year I think we are going to do Epcot first. So we can get the most strenuous out of the way first!

We will be starting our trip in November with the Magic Kingdom. It's an EMH night, plus, we have dinner ressies at Chef Mickey's, so we can hop on the Monorail. I can't wait to see the fireworks at night, because there truly is someithing magical about looking at Cinderella's castle with the fireworks going off. I think it's a "magical" way to start a vacation!!! :tinker: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Wow, I'm really surprised to learn we're in such a minority on this. Where we go depends on the things like-is there a new ride? If so, that's where we go first. That's why it was AK one trip (for EE), Epcot once (for Soarin). Any special park hours? Once, the first full day happened to be Little Ones EMH, so it was MK first. Maybe we should start some traditions.

We're probably in the minority here but usually head to Downtown Disney first. The only reason is because we don't get into town until the afternoon and don't want to 'waste' a day of our passes if we can't get to the park at opening time! :thumbsup2

On one trip however, we got into town late, went right to bed and got to MK 1st thing in the morning :cheer2:

I totally agree with your plan. We usually arrive late afternoon, and check into another hotel for one night (usually right outside the property, like a Holiday Inn Express) and then head to Downtown Disney. We started doing this because we didn't want to waste a day once we were officially in Disney.
In November, we are staying at the Hilton (free reward night!), and the next morning we are checking into All-Star Sports, and heading straight to the MK.
We are changing our routine a bit though. Instead of heading to DTD, we're going to head to the Poly, GF, WL and check out the Christmas decorations.

The decorations are nice at DTD, but I LOVE your idea of heading to the resorts! We'll be at WDW the first week of December...the last time we were there that week the decorations were gorgeous! I especially love the GF gingerbread house...there is nothing like the scent of gingerbread to get you in the holiday mood! I think we have to reconsider our plans to fit in some resort gazing time the first day. :santa:
