The first 2 weeks of December, 7 months out?

If you are considering either AKV or BWV at this point, then a factor in the consideration should be end date: 2042 for BWV and 2057 for AKV. We own at both. BWV has the best view, boardwalk view, on site. Its location is ideal, you can walk or boat to two parks and about two dozen restaurants. It is still our favorite resort. However, it has one major downside. Its bus system sucks. It shares with Swan/Dolphin and sometimes also with YC/BC. Every bus system on site has issues but BWV has them to an order of magnitude. I have stayed at most resorts at WDW over many years and BWV has been the worst for having problems. The times are legion when we have sat at the BWV bus station waiting 45 minutes or more for our bus to MK while watching three to four AK buses come, or vice versa, or stood 45 minutes or more (and a number times well over an hour) waiting for a bus to come at MK or AK, and when one arrives the driver is never aware there was any delay.

What we have found at AKV is one the best bus systems on site. Problems occur once in a while but with less frequency than we have experienced anywhere else. And though it is further to Epcot, Studios and MK than any other resort, we have found that we usually have less time in combined wait, stops, and travel time to those parks than other resorts that use buses to those locations. It definitely puts BWVs bus system to shame, likewise for BLT. It also has excellent restaurants, excellent theming, the animals, the sleeper chairs that pull out to twin size in the 1 and 2 BRs, and large 1 and 2BRs with an extra bathroom at Kidani. if you have a car, Kidani also has ideal under building parking and with elevators along the wings, you can always park fairly close to your room.

I'd really like to see the buses from BWV to MK (and AK) myself, since I don't know what the morning commute is truly like.

BLT buses I've experienced first hand, and when we stay there in February we are renting a car.

I stayed in YC in Oct 2012, Dec 2012, Jan 2013 and Oct 2013, and can say that every time we took a bus back from MK, we saw at least 2 buses leave for BWV+Swan and Dolphin, while we waited for 1 bus to the YC+BC/BCV so at least getting back from the parks, the buses seemed better. I even used the BWV bus a few times since it came more frequently and it was a short walk to YC. We only shared one bus with BW going to a park, and the BW was the last stop before MK on that bus.

I've no idea what DTD buses do, but we really have no interest in going there. None of the restaurants sound that appealing and the shopping is even less appealing.

I like AKV a lot, but I don't like that there are no jogging paths. I don't like treadmills and there are no other options there. I'm also hoping the ToT dates work for us in the future and then the BWV would be an ideal place to stay since I could walk to and from the race. (like I did this Oct from YC)

I'm not that worried about how long a contract lasts, if I can get 10-15 good years out of it, I might then want to sell it myself if possible. I am sure our vacationing will change.

My home resort is VWL which I booked at 11 months out for a week this December (12/8-15) than I haunted the boards and was able to pick up the same week one day at a time at AKL - Jambo house and than cancelled my VWL stay.

It can be done you just have to be patient and persistent.
