The financially irresponsible WDW trip! [June 25th: p.45, posts 668 & 669]

Hey Deb, you've been holding out on us here. Why haven't you shared with your loyal followers about the time your DH completely lost his swimsuit at TL??? :rotfl2: I think your friends here would enjoy that one! :lmao:
(all in good fun!)

Deb-
Excellent! :thumbsup2 I just knew the rest of the WS chapter was gonna be good. We love the fish & chips, too. I think we stopped to eat there at least 3 times in December. Sorry about the rude/weird woman in the sitting area. :sad2: It's such a nice place to sit & eat, too. What are the odds that your DH would see someone he knows, and on stage in Canada of all places! LOL! :lmao: That's soooo sweet that Alice found a friend during Illuminations. How adorable. I'm glad that she didn't cry too long once her friend left. I just love the walk back through International Gateway. (but you already knew that!) No matter how tired we are, I make everyone go the loooong way around. I LOVE Epcot after close, and the quiet walk back to the Boardwalk. :cloud9: I'm glad you got to experience that.

Can't wait to read more!
-Michelle

Awww! Poor little Alice! ("Where my friend go?") I can just picture her little lower lip trembling... so sweet!
Kathy

I know! :sad1: Thanks for reading Kathy! :thumbsup2

Whew! At least they didn't get in a fight with a drunk Australian dude! :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Oh yes, something's coming back to me.... your DH, was it?? :lmao: What was all that about again??

Only 100 more days 'til I get to see this upfront and personal!

And now it's 99! In fact, it's past midnight here, so it's 98!!! :woohoo:

I love the title of your trip report, "The Financially Irresponsible WDW Trip!" Great title for us. We go way to much. This summer I have a trip planned to Sea World and Discovery Cove, and WDW again. Do we really need to go to WDW again, so soon? NO, not really. But were going!

Thanks for reading!!! Good for you! That's the spirit!!! :thumbsup2 I cannot wait to get back there myself. As for the title, it kinda summed up the fact that, in reality, it was wise *not* to go back again so soon but we pulled out all the stops (financially) and went back anyway!! Having said that, I often wish I'd called it something else as it strikes me now as a bit stiff! Maybe I'm just sick of looking at it. So thanks for commenting on it, I feel a bit better now. lol!!

Lovely. Thanks for a great installment. Super pictures.

Thanks Amy!!! :)

I gotta figure out how to do that for my trip report. Am starting to get to the point of the trip where there is more action and my DH took some really fab pics.

Oh definitely add some pics!!! I'd love to see them. You can use a website like Photobucket where you upload your pics and then you just copy the link from there to here. If you get stuck, just ask. :thumbsup2

Great update! I have to know, did you get Kermit in MGM? I love the Muppets, and I know I could get a Kermit anywhere, but it'd be even better to get it at WDW.

Hi andiepie  and thanks!! YES, we got our little Kermie in MGM - in that store next to the Muppets attraction. We've started a little collection. We bought my mother the two ol' geezers from the balcony on our first trip; we got her the Swedish chef this time!! We also bought Beaker (for me!) and my son bought Kermit! They have great collection and I want them all. :woohoo: More Kermit and Beaker coming up in future chapters! ;)

Where did her friend go?:sad1: Poor thing!

I know!

Another great installment, keep 'em coming!

Thanks Beka!!! :)

Great EPCOT installments Deb!!!!!
Love the feeling of World Showcase....I could soak up that atmosphere for hours at a time & be perfectly content.

::yes::

I LOVE Off Kilter by the way...my brother loves them so much (saw them at a Highland festival not WDW) that when we were there & they were singing Whiskey in the Jar we called him on the cell phone so he could enjoy it too. :lmao:

:lmao: He's certainly a big fan! I did that last year at a Robert Plant concert (called my brother and had him listen in on one of the songs). Afterwards I asked him if he enjoyed it and he said "huh? I just thought there was a weirdo on the phone, all I heard was clanging and banging".

Thanks for the kind words Melanie.

I've been a bit under the weather this past weekend and felt so bad that I didn't wish my favorite Irish mum a "Happy Mother's Day". Now that I see your Mother's Day was in March I don't feel quite so bad. Here I was worrying that I was a day late when I missed the occasion by months! :rotfl2:

Yeah, I waited and waited for my Mother's Day wishes all those months ago but NOTHING. :sad2: Perhaps a DVC gift card next year?

Hope you're feeling better now Susie. Sorry to hear you were feeling bad.

By the way . . . how was the coffee? :lmao:

;)

Thanks for reading Susie! You're a pal.

Yay - two chapters! :)

Thanks Twingle!!

I thought it was totally hysterical that Kermit got in on the picture in Canada. Laughed way too hard at that.

Yeah, he's quite pushy. Beaker insists on coming with us on some AK rides in an upcoming chapter. He was too shy to use the single ride line. :sad2:

You do know that Americans think knickers are old men capri pant's don't you :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: I had no idea!!!!!!
You know, my friend had a baby on Saturday last!! Anyway, it was all so sudden, she wasn't prepared so she asked her bf to go and buy her some underwear. He came back with a thong. PUH-LEAEEEEZE!!!!!! After *just* giving birth????! :lmao: So she sent him back with the thong and he went and bought humongous thermal knickers instead. Talk about one extreme to the other.

Thanks for reading Jo!!

Wonderful! Wonderful! I'll post more comments later when I have more time!

Thanks jonslola!!! I see your countdown is moving nicely along. Under 5 months now!!

Hey Deb, you've been holding out on us here. Why haven't you shared with your loyal followers about the time your DH completely lost his swimsuit at TL??? :rotfl2:

:lmao: That happened on our 2005 trip!!! When I'm finished this one, I might do one post with the highlights of that trip including DH's 'Letting it all Hang Out at Typhoon Lagoon' scandel. :rotfl:

Deb-Excellent! :thumbsup2 I just knew the rest of the WS chapter was gonna be good.

Thanks Michelle!

We love the fish & chips, too. I think we stopped to eat there at least 3 times in December.

It's so convenient too isn't it? Probably the nearest real CS place to the Boardwalk now that I think of it!

I LOVE Epcot after close, and the quiet walk back to the Boardwalk. :cloud9: I'm glad you got to experience that.

It's so peaceful and relaxing. I might have mentioned this on your TR, but on our last night, we took that walk and it was impossible to hold back the tears. I recall your daughter crying too on the last night, after the same walk if I recall correctly. :( I think that walk will always be synonymous with saying goodbye to Disney World but it's not a bad memory, just an intensely special one. :cloud9:

Deb,
You need to get some sleep! It's going on 8 pm here and you're posting! No wonder it takes so long between installments...you're EXHAUSTED.

Okay, just got to tell you that I nearly choked when I saw that you saw Robert Plant last year. I saw him as a college student, and my oldest (you know the one) would LOVE to see him live. It makes me cool mom that I saw him years ago, but I think you just one-upped me:goodvibes

And what's this about your DH swim trunks?????

omg!! DH is the long lost twin of my dad!! i am paranoid about time, and i get into panic attacks when its 10 to a certain time, and hes no where in sight! it sounds just like him to have grabbed popcorn!

I am finally caught up! I dont usually post but I lurk like a mad women lol. I have to tell you I have loved every second of your TR! Your an awesome writer. Your kids are beautiful but I have to say that your dd is breathtaking! What a gorgoeus little girl!

I cant wait to read more!

Thanks Shark. I'm always up too late. I often start work *after* the kids go to bed! Lately though I'm trying to regulate my sleeping hours more. Getting too old for these late nights. :sad2: :thumbsup2

I think it's time to call up our old friend yet again. Ah, here we go.....
rock.gif

Yes I saw Robert Plant live with the boys and DH last summer - he played here in our city! :woohoo: It was fantastic!!! He can sing just as well now as back in the 60's! DH and DS13 are huge fans but I like him too fo sho (!). I saw him with Jimmy Page live on two other occasions in Dublin when they were doing their Page & Plant tours. Always a great show. I mentioned this before but DH, DS13 and DS10 actually met Jimmy Page last year which was a dream come true for them, especially for my eldest cause Jimmy (we're on first name terms now obviously :lmao:) is his guitar hero. Here they are together.....

BoysJimmyPage.jpg

Cool or what????????? :cool2:

Having said all that, I think it would have been amazing to see Robert Plant live years ago like you did. :hippie:

And what's this about your DH swim trunks?????

disneyaddicted said:
Yeah Deb, why?

nyyankeegirl probably read about it on the 'Most Embarrassing Moments in Disney' thread. :lmao: It was an incident that occured back in '05, not on this last trip. Here - I'll cut and paste what I wrote on that 'Embarrassing Moments' thread......
".....in '05 DH took our two boys to Typhoon Lagoon and totally 100% lost his swimming shorts in the wave pool. The boys were mortified and temporarily disowned him. :lmao: A CM came to his rescue with some towels. It's hard to embarrass DH but that just about did it. Funny thing is I read a post on these boards a few months later from a woman saying that she was in Typhoon Lagoon one day and there was a pervert there flashing his worldly goods (:rolleyes1) and I did wonder if it was DH and she had misinterpreted his, er, situation."

So there you have it!!! :teeth:

Glad you can relate! They have the 'falling asleep on the side of the road' () thing in common too!! Thanks for reading Nicole! :)

subbing - LOVING THIS!!

Hi Sandy!!! :) It's so great to get new readers. Welcome and hope you continue to enjoy it. :woohoo:

Oh yeah. It's official. I've lost my "cool momma" status. It's been shipped overnight airmail to Ireland.

;)

I can't believe how long I've sat here this afternoon reading ALL your TR posts - the laundry didn't get done, the dogs sat around with their back legs crossed, because I kept putting off taking them out & I completely ignored the fact that I had promised DFi that I'd do our (overdue) taxes today.

I'm blaming it on you - if DFi breaks the engagement, it's the fault of the DIS.

Anyway - it was really the photo of your DD with Eeyore that got me, & your comments on your dad's love of buying Pooh for you. I had a child 10 yrs ago & placed him for adoption. I bought him everything Pooh after he was born, & his adoptive parents decided that all Pooh-oriented gifts could only come from me. (We're from Winnipeg, the city where the REAL Winnie the Pooh bear got his name.) He says he's too old for it now, but it's still special for me.

I haven't been to Disney in a loooong time, but it's amazing how that magic can still reach out & grab us, isn't it?

Your poor DH, or should I say your poor DS's. Ya know, if that were my DH I would have scrapbooked the whole event. That's just too funny.

Sounds like an enjoyable evening (except for the part when you were wondering where your DH was!) It was good that you could surpress your anger and enjoy the show! Alice sounds so adorable. I loved the story about the demon woman at the Yorkshire Fish and Chip Shop! We've all meant someone like that. Hurry back with more of your stories.:)

Love your updates!

And sharkb8 is right, you are one cool mommy! That's a great photo.

But...I must comment on THIS: your DH knows someone from Off Kilter?! That is just too too :cool2:. I love them! Seeing their show is a must do every time I'm at WDW. I even have their CDs. I am very, very impressed.

Anyway, fantastic as usual, can't wait for more!

Oh - one more thing - I love funnel cakes too. Next time you'll have to try the ones in America at Epcot. That's my favorite place to get them. They seem to taste better there than other places you can get them, for some reason!

Nah! Never! You've definitely got the cool momma thing going on. :cool2:

:lmao: @ the dogs "with their back legs crossed"

Thanks so much dolcezena!! I'm flattered that you would give all that time to this TR - glad you enjoyed reading although sorry about the laundry etc. ;)

Wow! You've moved me to tears. What you wrote above is just so amazing. I think giving a child up for adoption is one of the most selfless, giving things a woman can do. I applaud you for your courage. I am certain it will always be special to you. Thanks so much for reading and, most of all, commenting dolcezena. :)

Deb, I just can't tell you how much I've enjoyed reading your trip report!

Thanks a million packerbeth! :flower3:

I found it by searching for MNSSHP, which I'll be going to for the first time this September.

How exciting!!!! You're gonna have a great night! :woohoo:

Snow White disappointed us at the Princess Storybook breakfast. We'd been at the pirate: & princess: Party two nights before, and skipped seeing her in ToonTown because I knew for certain that she is a regular at PSB.

Oh no! Sorry to hear that. :(

My girls (7 and 5) are STILL bellyaching about not getting Snow White's autograph (and they don't really even care for her!)

:lmao: Oh yes, my eldest son is still talking about the things we never got to do. What about all the things we did?

Your poor DH, or should I say your poor DS's. Ya know, if that were my DH I would have scrapbooked the whole event. That's just too funny.

Scrapbook it? I could never do that to him - instead I just tell thousands of people on a public message board about it. :rotfl: I'll tell ya something, I didn't go with them that day because 'Alice' was only 15 months at the time so I took her to the resort pool instead. When the boys got back and told me about DH's 'incident' I offered up a prayer of thanks for my decision to stay back in the hotel that day. ;)

Sounds like an enjoyable evening (except for the part when you were wondering where your DH was!) It was good that you could surpress your anger and enjoy the show!

::yes::

Hurry back with more of your stories.:)

Thanks!! :)

Love your updates!
And sharkb8 is right, you are one cool mommy! That's a great photo.

Aw thanks Jacquelyn!! :flower3:

Yes, he knows the bass player and Jimmy Page is our best friend, did I mention that??? :lmao: Seriously that's great that you catch their act each time. I enjoyed listening to them too. :)

I love funnel cakes too. Next time you'll have to try the ones in America at Epcot. That's my favorite place to get them.

Ooooh, I'm gonna remember that!
And just for you......

Two great installments, once again! Thanks!

Thanks lamagique! I'm thoroughly enjoying your TR!!!
