Can't quote on my phone for some reason, but lots of good analysis there UR. I wonder if all that info about how they met and their relationship and her sabotaging his probation wouldn't be allowed in.

FYI,
Conviction: The Untold Story of Putting Jodi Arias Behind Bars by Juan Martinez is $1.99 for kindle on Amazon.

I cut and paste the title so it made everything big and bold.

Happy Holidays everyone!!!

Oh good, thanks for the updated price, I'll get it. Now just to find the time to read it, lots of new TV shows starting next week. LOL

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays all you crime sleuths. :santa:

I just got this tweet:

@BethKaras: #BettyBroderick, convicted in '91 of murdering ex-husband & his new wife, has parole hearing tomorrow in San Diego.
m.twitter.com/BethKaras

I googled Betty Broderick to see what I could come up with regarding parole in the past. I found one article from 2010 saying she was denied and another article from August 2016 that said she was denied which I thought was odd because why would she be up for parole again so soon. But both articles said that she was 62. So there's something weird with that 2016 article.

I read something about her reaching the limit for the number of years that you can be denied parole so if I'm reading that correctly it sounds like she may be paroled this time. The last vote was two for and two against. She keeps portraying herself as the victim. That doesn't go over well with parole boards. There will probably be way more about it after the hearing tomorrow, whichever way it goes.

The "journalist" who wrote the second article evidently didn't research her age when she pilfered the 2010 article. LOL
Betty Broderick is 69 now.

By the way, I read the Martinez book on Jodi yesterday. I didn't learn anything new. And since we had no electricity alllll day I started back on Jane Velez Mitchell's book which was much better after having read the prosecutor's book. The only thing that stuck out to me in Martinez' book was why he refers to Nurmi as Laurence Nurmi several times rather than Kirk? I'm thinking I may read Kirk Nurmi's books too.

Laurence is his real first name. Maybe he hates it and Juan knows it. LOL

I agree about Juan's book. I guess it's more for people who didn't sit for five months watching the trial. LOL We probably could've proofread it for him. His big thing was that the gas can was the big thing, but I don't think so. I think there were lots of big things to convict her. It has been a while since I read it, but maybe that was just the aha moment for him.

Yeah, we could have proofread it for him and I'd have told him don't be childish, act like you know who Kirk Nurmi is by using the name he and the public uses. And Juan, did you want to mention your hair dye job, was that to make Jodi jealous since she had to go grey during the trial? I hope so.

The gas cans shows the premeditation which led to the death penalty if the jury could get there. I agree with you, her murder method was heinous enough she deserves the death penalty, but I must admit at times, I do think she deserves every minute of her pathetic life now.

I am sure she is not having a good time, like she wants everyone to believe she is...

UR, I thought there were other things that indicated premeditation, but yes, the gas cans were the slam dunk.

Here's some of Betty Broderick's last parole hearing (2 videos...total about 10 minutes). Betty Betty Betty! Keep pulling that crap and you will NEVER get out. The parole board guy looks flabbergasted. The testimony of the victims is powerful. (Her 4 kids...the older 2 against her release, younger 2 for release...Daniel Broderick's brother and Daniel's new wife's brother, obviously against.) It's a really interesting look at what victims go through every time someone comes up for parole.

Wow, Daniel's brother definitely doesn't hold back, does he?

And poor Betty, she just can't see past being the victim. Yeah, she's not getting out any time soon unless she drops the it wasn't my fault attitude.

Many reasons why she won't let go, she can't work through the anger issues, let go and forgive, it will eat her alive. It will be interesting to hear what happens at the next board hearing. When was this hearing conducted?
