I came in late on the episode, but did anyone watch 20/20 tonight? It was about Rosalie Bolin who left her prominent lawyer husband and 4 young daughters (her husband got custody of the girls) to marry convicted imprisoned rapist/murderer Oscar Ray Bolin, who murdered 3 women in Tampa in the 80's. He was sentenced to death for each of the 3 murders. I don't remember exactly what the story was, but I know he got new trials, thanks to Rosalie, and was again convicted and again received the death penalty.
There are new hearings coming up in the next few weeks...there are questions about evidence due to FBI scandals and apparently a confession by someone else in one of the murders. (Bolin did admit to a rape somewhere else, after these murders, and served time for that crime.) BUT...the reason I, and maybe some of you, are familiar with Rosalie Bolin is because she was on the defense team for Casey Anthony. I'm not sure for how long or in what capacity (jury selection?), but I remember we talked about her on that thread. It will be interesting to see how those hearings turn out...he might get new trials AGAIN. If his convictions stand, I hope they execute him and get it over and done with. I believe he's guilty as all sin. Rosalie says she'll still fight the convictions even after he's executed, if he is.
When asked about the fact that leaving her family to marry someone on death row would have to have affected her daughters, she replied that they were so small at the time that she didn't think it would hurt them. ? Her daughter Katherine made a film about it, which includes visiting her "step-father" in prison to meet him for the first time and interview him. The documentary is called It's Nice to Finally Meet You, which might be on youtube or the 20/20 website...I'm not sure.
Meanwhile, the pain that the families of those murdered are going through, again, must be unbearable. One family member of one victim believes Rosalie Bolin is a sociopath and I agree.
