The Film Avatar **updated** I've been!!

I went in expecting alot and was blown away. Best film of 2009 for me, the 3D was beautiful.

I had done a couple of surveys on the trailer before this was released and then saw the Imax 3D trailer when we went to see A Christmas Carol. I did not rate it at all and really did not think that this was for me. Once the film was released so many people I know went to see it and absolutely loved it. So I thought I better go and see it before it is no longer shown in Imax 3D. I was absolutely blown away by it. It is an utterly fantastic film. I am so glad that I have seen it.

Pocahontas in space meets GI Joe! :teeth:
Such an apt description, Deb! :goodvibes

We finally went to see this last night. As so many of you have said, the storyline is very predictable but the scenery was stunning and I really enjoyed watching it in 3D ~ up to now my only experience has been Disney park shows like Philharmagic and A Bug's Life. Oops, tell a lie ~ we did go to watch the midnight screening of A Christmas Carol in 3D on the Wonder but I fell asleep soon after it started and only woke up as the credits rolled!! :guilty:

Anyhow, I really enjoyed Avatar and am very glad I went to see it. :)

I thought it was really good, but it wasn't like 'the best film I've ever seen' like some people say. I mean, it's no The Little Mermaid or Back To The Future or anything, but it's good. :]

It really didn't appeal to me either but dh went a few weeks ago and he dragged me there kicking & screaming last night, well I am so glad he did as I thought it was fab. Definately one you need to see on the big screen in 3d. :3dglasses

Defo Claire! Everyone see it while you can at the cinema!! you won't be disappointed lol.

I went last Sunday and saw it in 3D, even though it wasn't the kind of film I'd usually like.... I really enjoyed it.

This just made me laugh. DH and I were talking about the film the other evening and he said to me "Basically this is just a Western set on another planet".

It is amazing how this film appeals to so many people. I thought that this definitely is not my kind of film, but I loved it.

I was dragged to see it by the b/f and i'm glad I went on an orange wednesday because i'd have been gutted to pay full price to see it.

You cant get away from the fact that visually its fantastic, but the story line is rubbish ..... typical humans wanting what others have got for personal gain * yawn yawn*

BUT ... i'd say it was worth seeing it in 3d on the big screen.

I wont bother buying it when it comes out though

Did anyone see the news articles about avatar fans close to suicide because they want to live in this fictional land ... how sad! Id love to live in a galaxy far far away but I can distinguish between fact and fiction! pmsl

i didnt want to see it really.. but it totally blew me away... the three hours whizzed past! :)

A little "preachy" in places in terms of the story line.. but overall i thought it thought provoking and stunningly beautiful! :)
