I see so many changing the risotto to the cream cheese mashed potatoes.
So can I ask why? I like risotto but if these potatoes are not to be missed I'll change-
Advice?

I dont really care for mushrooms and the only place i will eat them is with the filet and risotto. The risotto is sooooooooo good.

I don't like mushrooms or risotto--that's why I change. And the cream cheese mashed potatos are to die for. One of our friends who went with us this past September HATES cream cheese...won't eat anything with cream cheese in it. We didn't tell himw hat was in my potatos and after he tasted them he kept trying to steal the rest of them away from me!

Honestly, I've never had the mashed potatoes either. DH and I will be eating at Le Cellier in September on the DxDDP. I plan to just order a side of the mashed potatoes (paying OOP), because I have heard that both the risotto and mashed are so good!

I had the filet with risotto. So so so good! Next time we go I'm making DH get the mashed potatoes and I'll get the risotto and we can sample from eachother! :lmao::cool1:

The risotto with mushrooms makes the entire entree! :thumbsup2

I wouldn't change a thing.

We went twice for lunch last trip and the first time I had the filet and got the potatoes, second time got the risotto and I would never order it with the potatoes again. They are amazing but the mushroom risotto is just to complimentary. If you don't like mushrooms then substitute because there is no getting around the flavor.

I have always got the risotti with the filet, it is so good, but I think that I will get the mashed potatoes next time. My stomach and rich foods do not get along. Last December I had the filet at Le Cellier and the Seafood risotti at the CSR restaurant. They were both so good but it took me two nights and two days to recover. Only people with stomach problems will know how I felt. I would go for the risotti if I had a choice.

The risotto was so amazing, I got the recipe card from them and have made it at home. It's just that good!

I get it with the risotto. I didn't know what risotto was the first time I ordered it, but had heard so many people rave about the dish I figured I'd give it a try - great decision!

My guess is a lot of people change it to mashed potatoes purely because they don't know what risotto is or have never had it before and don't want to risk not liking it - just my thoughts though.

It is loaded with mushrooms...we love it but the last time we had it in March 09 it was very salty

Last week, DH ordered risotto, and I ordered the mashed potatoes. I had a bite of his, and I am glad I ordered the potatoes. I really like mushrooms, but it was a very strong flavor, honestly a little too salty for my taste. DH enjoyed the risotto though, FWIW!

I liked the risotto but it was a little salty for me. I plan to try the mashed on our next trip.

Get the mashed potatoes!!!! SOOOO good!!!

I like the risotto with the fillet, but I LOVE the mashed at LeCellier. We just order the potatoes as a side and pay OOP for one order to split.

What is risotto???:confused3

I was going to just describe risotto on my own, but I decided to Google it and get you all a professional description :teeth: This is from ochef.com "Risotto is an Italian rice dish. It is made by briefly sautéing the rice in olive oil or butter (often with some onion), then adding a little bit of stock, stirring almost constantly until the rice absorbs the stock, then adding a bit more stock, stirring, adding, stirring, adding until it’s done. It usually takes between 20 and 30 minutes of stirring. When it’s done, the rice is cooked through and bound in a wonderful creamy sauce that is made as the starch leaches out of the rice grains and combines with the stock.

Risotto is best made with short- and medium-grain rice, which tends to be stickier than long-grain rice varieties
"

So, in part just because I like it so much, and in part because making risotto is so time consuming and I'm too lazy to stand at the stove for a half hour :) - I choose the risotto.
