The Feast of Fools- In the famous words of Liz Lemon, "shut it down!"

And in a little bowl off to the right side we have: Quinoa, which tasted like lawn. And not even like middleclass suburban lawn. We're talking side of the turnpike haunted trailerpark lawn. I have tastebuds who are daring and like many things and yet this was... defidently not for me

If found this description to be hysterically funny, though I have never tried Quinoa.

You are my new dining review hero.

Vacation is the only time I eat syrup on things - at home, it's just lazyness - much easier to grab toaster waffles and eat them plain. And people make that face (you know the one :crazy2:) when I order coffee with no sugar (but I do take a touch of milk).

I'm with you....I don't do maple syrup either. Great first review....and by the way, if you thought it was loud in there when the place was nearly empty, then I recommend you never, ever, ever go during peak dining times. Loud does not begin to describe what it is like when that place is full.

Joining in Laura.

My daughter thinks she might have seen you one day at MGM. ( I refuse to call it anything else ;) ) Were you in front of the Great Movie Ride having some trouble posing wall*E? I wasnt with her or I would have came over to say hi.

Looking forward to more of your reviews. :goodvibes

Yes, that was me. There's like a wind tunnel that runs through the front of the GMR and Wall*E was having none of it. I think to get a shot of Steve Martin's hands I just laid Wall*E down to be done with it, lol.

what are they doing serving quinoa at Crystal Palace? That's just wrong.

Jay and I actually buy quinoa and make it here at home but you must add milk and brown sugar and maybe a sneezy pinch of cinnamon, otherwise it tastes like soggy packing peanuts.

Very nice first review ... love the continued Simpsons references and Wall-E poses wonderfully; he is very soulful - it must be the eyes.

Thanks, Wall*E is very expressive. Just wait till you see his eyes light up holding a cocktail.:rotfl:

I've made tasty quinoa before and I agree you need to season it to death and add milk. It was like the just threw some water on it and called it a day. blech

I don't put syrup on my breakfast foods either. It kills my Vermont-born boyfriend. :ssst:

I only do the really good dark maple stuff, so basically just at home. Other syrup is just nasty, I agree. I don't put milk on cereal either. My Spouse thinks I'm crazy.

Joining in for the rest of your reviews. Great titles and great review of CP. Can't wait to try it in a few months.

I hope you like it, there was a lot of variety.

oooh what a fab review of CP :cool1:

Thank you:goodvibes

Great! Really looking forward to the rest of your reviews. :)

I'll try to be prompt then.:thumbsup2 The biggest hurdle is uploading all the pictures I took.

If found this description to be hysterically funny, though I have never tried Quinoa.

I've had it made better before. They were just treating it like instant oatmeal or something, and quinoa isn't tasty enough to hold itself up on it's own.

:flower3: Aww shucks, thanks. And black coffee is the only way to go. If I want to drink sugar milk, I'll orders sugar milk gosh darn it.

That Frittata is calling my name!

It was so good, I'm going to try to make it at home. The best thing there, hands down.

That's why I only got the early ADR. Me and swarms of anklebiters... we do not mesh. I think because it's all glass and wood in there every little noise just bounces around too. They should offer padded room dining options.

Great review of CP.

Thank you!

Thanks, Laura. I'm a happy camper now that you've started posting the FOOD! :flower3:

And quinoa is not just for breakfast anymore. I like mine not tasting like lawn. I buy a jar of ratatouille from Trader Joe's and heat a little portion up to mix into plain quinoa after it's soaked up the liquid. The result is like a Spanish rice taste.

Great start Laura, you're hysterical and Wall-E is so stinking cute!!!!:thumbsup2

Great start! Can't wait to hear more!! Oh and "good" news... I found those 2 lbs you lost (and then some!) :rolleyes1

I don't like syrup either! :headache: I am laughing while reading...you have a terrific sense of humor:upsidedow I can't wait to read more...

What:confused: No puffed french toast?
I'm actually trying to find another place that serves it since CP will be closed on my visit from the end of January to February. It might have been a little sweet for you. Loving the reviews

Your first comment had just cracked me up. It was like "We want the show! We want the show!"

And that ratatouille sounds pretty good. I think quinoa just needs a little something more than water and a raisin or too.

You are hilarious! I am absolutely loving your report!!!

Denise

Thank you!:goodvibes I'm glad you're having fun.

Great start Laura, you're hysterical and Wall-E is so stinking cute!!!!:thumbsup2

Wall*E is so stinking cute. It feels kinda like it was his trip and I was just there to tag along and drink the boozes.

Great start! Can't wait to hear more!! Oh and "good" news... I found those 2 lbs you lost (and then some!) :rolleyes1

:rotfl2:

I've never seen chocolate Mickey waffles! Yummy!!!!

I must have one now! :goodvibes

They were pretty tasty. I had seen a picture in a food report a while ago, but had never seen them live and in the flesh... er batter?

I don't like syrup either! :headache: I am laughing while reading...you have a terrific sense of humor:upsidedow I can't wait to read more...

Thank you:flower3: I just kinda type what comes into my mind. This review so far has been given a little extra spice from my Nyquil doses though.

I didn't see puffed french toast, now that you mention it. I know it's something they usually offer I just didn't come across it. Is it on the kids area or something? You're most likely correct that I wouldn't like it. I would still give it a try though. When I was younger my bff's dad would make french toast rolled in cinnamon and sugar and I would eat that.

Absolutely love your reviews so far. Cannot wait for more! I hope Wall E enjoyed meeting Pooh and friends!

Great start to the reviews - I have to say, it is sacrilege though that you missed the french toast at CP - it's to die for, although as a PP suggested, you may have found it too sweet (and, yes, it is normally found with the kids items).

Looking forward to the buffet photos :)

Previously on Shenanigoat's review of the Crystal Palace breakfast:

Quinoa- the hidden enemy. A young child requests his pooh. Mickey waffles came in 2 colors. And Laura choked down some Nescrappy coffee.

And now for the thrilling conclusion:

This restaurant is very lovely looking on the inside. Except for the creepy toparies. It makes me wish it was raining and I could frolick around inside with a handsome young man singing "16 going on 17".

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I have about a dozen photos of the buffet to show you. Please pretend I have written hilarious comments about all these pictures:

OK, for this one, there was nobody there, I walked back to take the picture and bam someone steps up to the omelette station. I waited a minute to take this, but omlettes take a while. So guess what buddy? Your butt's on the internet now.

There are characters that come around during your meal. Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore & Tigger. When I was first seated Piglet was 2 tables down, and he came over and sat with me, signed my book "Happy 10th trip Laura!" and I got a picture with him. Being that I am much less adorable than Wall*E I will not be posting that photo. Other than Rabbit, Piglet is my favorite Hundred Acre Wood resident, so I was happy to see him. Eeyore came by later in my meal, and so did Tigger, but Pooh didn't make it to me. The little OJ gargler got to meet him and was over joyed though, so at least he shut up for a while after that.

When my server dropped off my bill I immediately handed over my KTTW and she still took about 15 minutes to get back to me with everything at the end of my meal. Like I said in part one of this review, I understand that she had a lot going on, but it was still a bit long. Maybe she was trying to give me time to see more characters, but none of them showed up during that time.:confused3 She also didn't clear my plates away from the buffet. Plates # 1 & 2 stayed on my table even though I pushed them away and it was obvious I was going for another round. Stuff like that kinda bothers me.

My overall thoughts on this buffet are that you get a very good sized amount of some very decent food for the price. Even if you are not on the dining plan. Plus you get the character interaction in a lovely building. The restaurant is loud, as most character meals are, so take a tylenol if that bugs you. I tend to like the quiet more than anything else, but I understand that I'm in WDW and little kids are going to freak out because they are meeting Pooh-bear. The service is so-so, but I think that has more to do with the fact that there is so much for the servers to do, it seems like they need less people seating and more people bussing tables.

I don't think I'll be eating here again anytime soon, just because for me it wasn't the be-all-end-all of character/breakfast meals. But when the Spouse and I eventually squirt out a rug-rat of our very own and I take it to WDW this will be on the list.

What a great review of Crystal Palace!! I have to say I agree with you it gets a bit loud so that is why I would rather start my day there then end my day there!!!

The food at breakfast looks so yummy!!! HMMM...I'm a big breakfast food lover!! Thanks for sharing such a great review!! I look forward to more!
