The Feast of Fools! back from WDW- be on the look out for trip report

I hope you love JIKO as much as I do.:goodvibes We've only been there once but can't wait to go back!!!!! CG is another fave of ours!:thumbsup2

Wow! That's a lot of new places!! I lvoe Jiko & Citricos. We had Goat Cheese Truffles & a Risotto from the app menu when we tried it in February. My Dad had the Risotto and let me try a bite, it was fried and delicious! My Mom and I each got a Goat Cheese Truffle "Salad" it came with three little balls of goat cheese over arugula and prochutto and OMG, I think it might be one of the best things I've ever eaten. I just finished dinner and I think I'm drooling just thinking about it :rotfl:

Your plans sound great Laura! I've never stayed at POP either but will be staying there for one night this coming Wednesday night. I fully admit to being a resort snob (especially with being a DVC member) but I could not rationalize spending any more on a room for one night (before our DVC reservation starts on Thursday) so that's where I'll be. I've heard good things about it so I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay. And you can't beat the price especially with free dining!

Your dining plans sound great too! You have so many ADRs. I was starting to think I had too many for my October trip but you definitely have more so maybe mine aren't too bad. I still may drop some the problem is I just can't decide what to drop.:rotfl:

I ate at Yak and Yeti on my last trip and really enjoyed it. Hope you have a good experience there. I've never been to Tusker House so I can't compare, although I am going there in Oct thanks to your review!

Jiko is my absolute favorite restaurant on property. If you can, ask for Tiffany. She has been my waitress twice and is so nice and very helpful with the wine and menu options.

I would try again for Kouzzina. I had no problems making a dinner ADR for October. You might want to try reserving for a party of 2 -- I found with certain places there was more availability for a party of 2 vs. 1 -- which makes no sense since you would get the same size table.

Your ADRs sound great Laura! I love both Crystal Palace and Kona for breakfast, and I could make a meal out of just the potatoes at the Akershus princess breakfast!

Your plans look terrific! We don't overlap with any of our ADRs but I will definitely keep an eye out for you at the F&W booths where it sounds like we are both planning to spend a lot of time! :thumbsup2

Oh, can't wait to hear what you think of the kitchen tour or whatever it is called at AKL. That sounds really cool!!

Just a quick update on F&WF since I got up at the ungodly hour of 3:30AM to do my bookings:surfweb::

Sept 27th- Tequila Tasting

No signature events this time around, I have too many ADRs. already:laughing: I have some of the $8 culinary demos/wine demo things in mind to, but I'll get to them later after I've gotten some more sleep.:faint:

You'll have to let me know what you think of the tequilla tasting. I decided not to do it. If I get a migraine that day (which is entirely possible, actually, now that I haven't scheduled it, I won't!) it'd be $40 down the drain!

I'll be interested to hear about the Tequila tasting. We thought about doing this too, but figured we have enough on our plates with food and wine. I know you'll give us a great review. :thumbsup2

If you see a piglet sized gal with bright red hair eating around WS- that would be me

hahaha- Sounds like me, too...only I'm more Pooh-sized with red hair & an Eeyore tattoo. :) I'm there Sept. 28th- October 3- do our trips overlap?
You have some great ADR's. California Grill, Jiko, & Boma are some of my favorites. I'm vegetarian & Jiko has an entire separate vegetarian menu if you ask for it. I love having so much to choose from! I wanted to try Kouzzina, too. I was going to post a PTR, but you guys are all such good writers, that I chickened out! :rotfl:

I finally made it here ... I had to medicate myself with an egg mcmuffin after the trauma of this morning's F&W phone calls. Yes ... it was plural. :rotfl2:

Your ADR lineup sounds divine ... bye-bye belt, as Homer would say, but I mean that in the nicest way possible. Jay and I have 19 confirmed ADRs for a ten-day trip, plus three F&W events, plus all the food & wine booths, and a couple of places planned that don't take ADRs. Yes, we will Eat and Grow Large With Food! :rotfl2:

And I love your Pride & Prejudice reference ... very funny! :lmao:

BTW, I have formally pimped you in the first post of the Bendy V.2 thread. :thumbsup2

I have been salivating over the menus for months now. I got so many good places this trip. Too many good places, lol.

Every thing on Jiko looks great to me, I'm going to need a few drinks in my to decide on my course of action that evening.

I'm glad to hear you liked Yak & Yeti. Makes me feel a bit better. And I've been trying for Kouzzina.:sad2: Maybe I'll try once I'm in WDW too.

Is that the cheese potatoes? Mmmmm

You'll defidently see me at the booths. My last 3 days are pretty much just me grazing around WS.:thumbsup2

Oh man, I hate headaches- I can't imagine getting frequent migraines:flower3:. I will be sure to take as many notes/pics as possible at my tequila tasting. I'm thinking while I'm in WDW I might pop online to post quick F&WF updates for my events, then get all wordy in my actual trip report.

Happy to drink your share of tequilla:cool1:. I'm going to try to post quicky updates on the evenings of my days in WDW when I have a F&WF event since I know everyone will be there already by the time I start my real trip report.

I'll be there Sept 24-Oct1 so we do overlap a bit. I am a meat eater- but I also love my veggies so maybe I'll ask to take a look at it. That's why I liked Tuskerhouse, so many veggie options. And you should totally post a PTR. I was nervous too about being a lame-o but there was nothing to fear!

I finally made it here ... I had to medicate myself with an egg mcmuffin after the trauma of this morning's F&W phone calls. Yes ... it was plural. :rotfl2:

I'm glad you got your F&WF stuff sorted out. Getting disconnected sucks big time. 19ADRs + events is a lot too, I feel less gluttonous now :rotfl2:. And I have been prepping for my many ADRs for over a month now- going to the gym and working out. Plus my Southern CA Disneyland pass gets unblocked this week, so I can get back into my Disney-inpark-scurry-mode for the trip and break in my feet again.

Boma/Jiko 4 PM tour thing? What's that!? :confused3:idea::flower3:

If you go to AKL at 4PM you can check in at the Boma booth and tell them you want to do the restaurant tour. There are some trip reports that discuss this, but I can't remember who wrote them:headache:. They walk you through Boma/Jiko and I believe you get a free little taste of something.

Your PTR has got me very excited about the F&WF! I won't be able to go this year, but I'm seriously considering checking it out next year!

I just found your PTR Laura thanks to the link on Brenda's thread. We will be there the same time as you so hope to run into you at the F&W festival. :goodvibes

I have stayed at POP solo, lakeside top floor in both the 70's and the 50's section. I love waking up in the morning and walking down by the lake as I walk over to the food court to get a bagel and a hot tea. This trip we'll be at POFQ. I can't wait.

I'm glad you are considering F&WF! This is my first WDW F&WF, but I've done the one they do at DCA a few times.:goodvibes

I'm sure we will bump into each other, as I'll be setting up camp at the booths. It'll be hard not to find me.

I hope you have fun at POFQ, I've stayed at POFQ/POR my last two trips so they are near and dear to me.:lovestruc I'm feeling less anxious about POP thanks to people like you who have experianced it solo before.

Before we dive into my plans for this vacation, I'm going to take a look back at my previous trip, so that I can discuss something I found to be very helpful in January.

On my last trip I used TouringPlans.com to create my own map/schedule for every day. I ran into many friendly travelers with the touring plan guides, but no one who had the self made ones like I had. If you are an obsessive planner, I recommend these, as they really helped me make sure I got done everything I needed to get done. You can also leave out the stuff you wouldn't be interested in. As an added organizational bonus, I also used them to hold all the reciepts from at the end of the day, so that all my expenses were accounted for.

Here's the first part of day 1 (Magic Kingdom) w/ my chicken scratch all over it.

You really have to know what you're doing to make these. Mine were based off of Disboard info, the touringplans that come with the UG, and my own knowledge of the parks. If you didn't know about anything I'd imagine someone would be quite confused as to what order to do things in. This was great for me, since it was my first week long trip to WDW since 2001 (I had been at WDW the previous spring, but only for 4 days) and there was a lot I wanted to do.

I'm not going to be using these on this trip, since I feel like there is no way I can schedule F&WF booths and the various things going on this upcoming vacation. I'm not someone who minds following a schedule (that's why ADRs aren't a planning problem for me, like they can be to some) but I can also just go with loose ideas of what I'm doing. I found on many days I had underestimated my ability to get things done, I would realize I was way ahead of schedule.

I don't even rush at all, it's just that I'm always at rope drop. I know even planning what time to get up is too much for some on vacation, but for your uber-planners I wanted to let you know about a cool online progam for planing.:teacher:

Next up: I think I'm just going to go day by day what my loose (loose for me anyway:rotfl:) plans are. It'll be easier than listing F&WF stuff, than park stuff, then other stuff, and yadda yadda.

I made custome touring plans from there last year, they worked out pretty well, even when I had to take my red pen to edit them when my toddler wouldn't go on any rides. I printed them on a heavy paper double-sided :thumbsup2.

Yay! THey are awesome. Sorry your toddler was being a toddler:rotfl: My nephews are like that, totally game for anything and then outta left field they want none of it.

I am currently in the works of something for this PTR, and that is why I haven't updated it this week. I don't want to give anything about it away, and whatever you may think it's going to be, I doubt you'd guess this.

I will have an update on Monday, and I believe that the wait will be worth it. Either that or you will officially call the funny farm people on me.

:rolleyes1They're coming to take me away haha!:rolleyes1
