the fear of missing school?

I find it humorous that anyone would listen to self-proclaimed 'Problem Children' and high school dropouts on this subject. Kudos to all those who actually understand why there is an attendance policy and that it is the states and not the districts who control it. School districts have thier own policies approved by the states for funding.
As for the teachers who claimed to take their own kids out during the year for vacations, I cant believe their districts allow teachers to miss a week of school for vacations. The thousands of dollars used for subs and the time away from their students is enormous if you calculate it for the whole year based on the number of people who do that. I would be fired in my district for that.
If I offend anyone too bad. Kids should be in school. Period. Yes, things do happen such as emergencies, but one cant expect teachers to prepare 1-2 weeks work before a vacation several different times a year for students. As posted, it is more that worksheets and reading. Projects, experiments, Lectures, etc. make up a great majority of the learning experiences that children have today.
As for the rebels who are anti-Public school, anti-govt, whatever....go ahead and homeschool your kids. It makes more work for you, and the districts still get your tax money with less headaches from you taking your kids out.
With all that said, I hope everyone enjoys their vacations.

So maybe the answer to the teachers that act nasty or the school district that doesn't approve your trip is to just withdraw your child from school before your trip, then re-enroll them upon your return. No make up work, no recorded absence excused or unexcused.

I am just wondering if this is a legitimate option? Are there repercussions for that? As I said earlier, I think I am very lucky. My DD8 goes to a private catholic school and although we have attendance rules, the principal and teachers never view us going to Disney as something 'bad' or give us a hard time. They tell us to have a great time.

There was a post before where somebody suposedly did it that way. I've seen it happen, a child is taken out of school because the family is moving, and a week later the job transfer fell through, the closing on the house didn't happen, etc, and the kid is back in the same school. It happens, and not just for vacations.
