The father who pushed too far

Yeah, but the story was interesting. For once I noticed immediately that it was a very old thread and wondered why anyone would be reviving something so ancient.

I never heard of this story before, and belated thanks to the person who posted it. And the person who resurrected it.

Agreed! I didn't see this back then, and I had not heard this story. A very sad read.

I care, it is stupid to bring up a thread that is so old the links don't work

Link doesn't work, but I was able to Google the story.

I for one am glad it was bumped. I never heard of this story. Wow. Tragic. It should be shared. Sadly, not much has changed with some parents. In fact, I see things getting worse.

Please, this is Important
My English teacher has a lesson over this particular story and after we finish reading we watch the the video, (supposed too)"Lance Butterfield: Pushed Too Far"
But recently the video has been put into private so we are unable to watch it, and also we've tried to look it up but it's almost as if everything about him is disappearing on the internet
IF ANYONE KNOWS A WAY TO WATCH THE VIDEO OR HAVE A LINK TO A WORKING PLAYING VIDEO PLEASE REPLY
After reading this story it gave me a nostalgic feeling and I really want to watch the video, I feel like if I don't ever watch it, I'll feel incomplete in some type of way
Please someone help

Yes, this is a horribly sad story. I wonder what the people in the family are doing now.

And I also wonder why a first-time poster would bump up a 12-year old story.

They probably searched on Google and this thread came up. Since people seemed to take an interest in it back then, they thought it worth a shot to reach out to them. Were you questioned when you made your first post?

I didn't realize the thread was 12 years old until I saw the post. I guess I need to look at that first. The story was very interesting and sad. It's horrible that the father was mentally ill and the mother let the abuse happen.

Yes, I agree. Sometimes I've Googled something, and threads from the DIS are actually included in the results.
It's called the "World Wide Web" for a reason I guess. ::yes::

Terrible story. I've seen a few parents who were obsessed with pushing their kids to earn scholarships and/or go pro -- but none hold a candle to this guy.

My big question: Why did mom allow this to happen? I mean, this isn't 1950. She could've left and taken her son out of what was clearly an abusive sitaution.

Um, no.

My first post was more than 15 years ago, and it was something to do with trip planning.

Were you?

I don't recall who started the thread, but every so often a one time poster will bump a thread about some women's professional group/subscription and how it's a scam. The one time poster generally thanks the person who started the thread or adds to the consensus that the women's group is a scam. Nothing to do with trip planning or Disney at all, it's called the Community Board because it's about other topics.

Geeeez.

I don't think you will get an answer from Danny, Birdie. Danny has not returned since posting his/her first and only post almost 9 years ago. But, in any case, welcome to the dis. You have the same name as my daughter's dog. :dog:
