Anyone have any thoughts on differences between the Queen Vic and regular room? We are currently booked for the regular room on April 30 but are thinking about upgrading to the Queen Vic room. Queen Vic seems like it might be more "stuffy" but the 10 course is a bit more appealing to me than the 7.

We have dined in the QV room twice and have determined that there is simply too much food to consume...at least for us. A split wine pairing, to say nothing of a regular wine pairing, will make it even more challenging. Of course, there is a semi-privacy factor that makes the room special.

We prefer the main dining room and have booked it a half dozen times. And we have reservations in April.

Ultimately, it's a question of quantity. The quality, of course, is remarkable...in either of the three room options.

All the best. :thumbsup2

totally agree with the above poster. it was simply too much food with the wine pairings, the bread, the coffee, the dessert....

I think when we do it again it will be the regular service. Sure the individual courses are not that large, but there are sooooo many of them.

great! Thanks for the prompt replies. I think we'll stick with the regular room.
This is where we're eating for our August trip. We've eaten at the Chef's Table and in the QV room. The food was fabulous, but it was sooo much to eat. By the end, I wasn't appreciating much of anything I was so stuffed.

weebabes - if your daughter is adventurous and likes to take her time at a meal, I'd absolutely take her. I'm taking my 11-year-old when we go. She loves to try new things (the one restaurant she was dying to try this past trip was Spice Road Table). I'm going to discuss it with her beforehand, though, and mention that it will be a long meal and if she thinks it will get boring, she can go to the Sandcastle Club with her siblings. And she has to wear a dress.

Beware the wine pairings!

on Saturday night, a young woman departed the GFR after dining (and drinking!) at V&A's by doing a series of circular spins until her shoes fell off! The man in her life, who was holding her rose and the V&A menu bag, looked a bit astonished.

All the best. :thumbsup2

Whoops!!!

I imagine "She" was just practicing her ballet moves... :cutie:

That is exactly why I do not do the wine pairings!!! I want to be able to walk out of there on my own feet! We usually just pick two courses to have a wine with, but not all of them!

We have seen other behaviors caused by the standard wine pairing and have learned from those experiences. We prefer to split a wine pairing these days. It works well for us.

All the best. :thumbsup2

When you do the Chef's Table, do they fill the table up completely (meaning if I'm one person, and the table seats eight, seven strangers will be joining me for dinner)? Or is it just a 'whoever books gets the place to themselves' deal?

Once more I'm really thinking about trying the Chef's Table by myself (the SO doesn't do fancy anything, period. Red Robin is his idea of fancy, lol) but I want to know if I'm going to be all alone or not before I think over it some more.

Can you book at 180 days out? Do you call or go online? And do you pre-pay for it?

You get the table by yourself. Call the first day available first thing (180 or if on-site 180+10). You do not have to prepay.

Can Disney gift cards be used to pay or at least a DVC room charge? So happy to read a wine paring can be shared. I cannot handle much alcohol.

What is the atmosphere like in the Queen Victoria room? I'm liking the longer menu, but I'm disappointed to hear that the harp isn't audible. I'd like a bit of ambiance to accompany my 3 hour dinner...

We have dined in the QV room a few times. On one occasion, the doors were left partially opened; at another time, they were closed. However, the superb V&A CMs will be opeing and closing those doors numerous times during your dining experience. Alas, the volume of the harpist will not be clearly discernable with the doors closed. Harpist Elizabeth Gerberding skillful playing should not be missed; she provides an element of "atmosphere" that makes the V&A experience memorable.

All the best. :thumbsup2

You can't get the expanded menu in the normal dining room, can you? The violinist sounds too good to miss.

Does the wait staff seem okay with taking pictures of the room and the food, or is that too uncouth for such a fine establishment?

I've never felt out of place taking pictures in any of the rooms provided I wasn't being obnoxious about it (big flash, getting up alot, etc)
