The Everything POTC Club!!

magix is it okay if i give you all a piratey fact?

got something about the flying dutchman but wanted ter ask permission first

pirate: pirate:

Needn't ask me permission, matey. The more facts we 'ave, the better, says I. The Flying Dutchman, says ye? I've 'eard the name, but am not familiar with the tale - so please, let us 'ear yer fact.

Ah, and while we be on pirate facts, I 'ave realized I left a bit out o' me last. Fer the sake o' lisajl, I shall add a bit te her carpenter's position. Many ships were in want o' a surgeon (unless o' course they be takin' themselves one from a prize), and so if they 'ad any injuries from battle what requir'd removin' a limb, oft'n the carpenter would take the place o' surgeon. Bein' skilled with saws, the carpenter were 'andy fer cuttin' off legs and arms, when needed. And so ye see, lisajl, yer job just gets bett'r!pirate:

yo! i may be off to see pirates again today fer it moved to the dollar theater here. and me friend wants ter go again (i got her hooked!) so we may go! huzzah! it shalt be seven times for me! hurrah!

the flying dutchman? isn't that on spongebob?

magix, ill have that info posted soon

emily, the flying dutchman was in spongebob but its kinda different

how come nh has no dollar theatres????

Seven times?! That's awesome! Most times I ever saw a movie in the theatre was Titanic which I saw 8x. It's now at the "cheap theatre" ($2.50), but I doubt I'll be able to go see that. I can always wait until Christmas.

Chemistry is evil. I got a 71% on my exam.

Sorry te tell ye, depply, but POTC just moved te the $1 theatres near me, as well. $1 b'fore 6pm and $1.50 after. Tryin' te figure a day te go see all four showin's in a row...pirate:

Oh, depply!! Couldn't stand it any long'r and did me a bit o' an intern't search on The Flyin' Dutchman. Ye must share yer fact soon, matey! It be quite a good story! Think I be seein' how yer plannin' te tie it inte POTC - must say I found some o' it quite familiar!!:D pirate:

I got a funky little pirate pirate: at the $1.00 store. He has magnets on his back so I stuck him on the fridge. When you press his chest, he says either Shiver Me Timbers or Arrrrr Matey. He has a heart tatoo on his arm and he's holding a little felt cutlass. Quite fearsome he be.

Awww... I want one o' them. He could keep me comp'ny at work. :D Any particul'r kind o' $1 store? Per'aps thar be one near me.

hey! what's up? Bloody_Jack, i looooove the pic in your siggie! speaking of siggies, i think ill go change mine.

i wuv pirates.

where is everyone???? i can't cap'n this ship alone. even if i am Captain Emily Sparrow, savvy? i've decided emily sparrow sounds bad. i need a new first name!! lols

I kinda like the sound o' Emily Sparrow... must rack me brain te come up with some options fer ye, tho... Hmmm... :scratchin

Hmmm... aft'r thinkin' 10 or 15 on it, here be what I 'ave got so far:

Capt. Anne Sparrow
Capt. Bonney Sparrow
Capt. Victoria Sparrow (Capt. Vic fer short)
Capt. Cosette Sparrow
Capt. Orli Sparrow ;) (or Orly, Orlee, Orlie, Aurlee, Auralee...)
Capt. Jadent Sparrow (Capt. Jade fer short - see the ship in Bloody Jack's sig pic fer the origin o' that name)
Capt. Johanna Sparrow (Capt. Jo fer short)

See anythin' ye like, Emily? I shall try te think o' more... :scratchin

The legend of The Flying Dutchman is said to have started in 1641 when a Dutch ship sank off the coast of the Cape of Good Hope, at the southernmost tip of Africa(right?)
Captain van der Decken was pleased. The trip to the Far East had been highly successful and at last, they were on their way home to Holland. As the ship approached the tip of Africa, the captain thought that he should make a suggestion to the Dutch East India Company (his employers) to start a settlement at the Cape on the tip of Africa, thereby providing a welcome respite to ships at sea.

He was so deep in thought that he failed to notice the dark clouds looming (how convenient)and only when he heard the lookout scream out in terror, did he realise that they had sailed straight into a fierce storm. The captain and his crew battled for hours to get out of the storm and at one stage it looked like they would make it. Then they heard a sickening crunch - the ship had hit treacherous rocks and began to sink. As the ship plunged downwards, Captain van der Decken knew that death was approaching. He was not ready to die and screamed out a curse: "I WILL round this Cape even if I have to keep sailing until doomsday!"
So, even today whenever a storm brews off the Cape of Good Hope, if you look into the eye of the storm, you will be able to see the ship and it's captain - The Flying Dutchman. Don't look too carefully, for the old folk claim that whoever sights the ship will die a terrible death.
Many people have claimed to have seen The Flying Dutchman, including the crew of a German submarine boat during World War II and holidaymakers.

ok so here it is!!!

now if i could only get those darn pics posted....
:wave2:

Very nice work, depply!!::yes:: The bit I read 'bout it offer'd a few alt'rnative versions o' the story, inlcudin' one in which thar be a crew o' skeletons mannin' the ship, commanded by The Flyin' Dutchman, hisself. Hmmm... a skeletal crew and a cursed Capt'n... where 'ave I 'eard that b'fore??? ;)

Thar be anoth'r which says the only way The Flyin' Dutchman can break his curse, be te find the love o' a woman... :scratchin ... I do like cursed Capt'ns... pirate:
