The Everything and Nothing Thread

Hi Ev/nos!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Joan: Love the pix! What I love so much as fall is the color changes and this is gorgeous! Have a great trip with your sisters!

Dax: Sorry about your work schedule changes – hopefully, you will grow to like your new hours. How did your DH’s doctor appt go?

Pakey: Wow, you Egypt vacation is almost here! How exciting for you.

Focus: We had lots of kids on Halloween night – we live in a development with lots of families. Probably had over 100 kids.

I can't talk DH into any exotic vacations. The only place out of the US I can get him to is Canada. But since we're right on the boarder, we don't really think of Canada as a "foreign country":)

True Confession Thursday: I'm really good at decision making at work. I can assess, prioritize & make instant decisions. I am in charge and keep the unit running smoothly. At home, I can't make decisions very quickly at all. I'm still trying to decide on a light fixture for our dining room to finish things up. Since May. I'm wishy washy until I just force myself to pick something. Even when we eat out. I'll go back & forth between 2 or 3 entrees, then just blurt something out to the waiter. :confused3 What's up with that? :rotfl:

Focus - this is so me too! :lmao: I can't seem to make decision about home decorating at all. I have paint samples at home from the summer - still haven't picked out the colors for our two bathrooms! And when we eat out? I always go last in the ordering, since i can't make up my mind! Usually, I ask the waitress questions, then will either go back to an old favorite or just pick something random! And all the time thinking, I should have gone with this or that!:rotfl:

Also - the comment about Canada - that's my thinking too since I grew up in Rochester. I do forgot when someone asks if I ever traveled out of the country, that I have:)

My exciting news: I just booked a last minute trip to Disney!! It all came about Friday, that started with an email from a friend saying she could get a few days off before the end of the year, and and by the end of the day, I found myself going on a 4 night/5 day trip with her, from 11/18 to 11/22. We are also going to go to MVMCP, which I've never experienced. Yeah!! I like the fact that I return and have a short week at work before Thanksgiving:yay: I have an AP so I snagged a rate at WVL!!

Hi Lara, Teri and everyone else!

Morning, I was going to post on this today to get it back on the first page..LOL..

Well I am OK, DH, well not so much. His neuro appoint was a waste of time and money. We waited over an hour past our appoint time to actually see him, then when we did, we saw him for less than 5min. He pushed a bunch of pills on us, basically treating him for migraines. They ignored all the other symptoms I brought up, told us to come back in 2mo!

To make it worse, one of the pills he gave DH, Trexamit, he cannot take because he also takes Zoloft, and it causes a reaction. They INSISTED on a medication list, and then blatenetly ignored it.

So we in the same boat we were 2 mo ago. No answers. I am currently looking for a new neuro to go to, as we were NOT pleased with this one.

Otherwise I am OK. I got a concert in 2 weeks and I am beyond excited for. We going to have a date night...dinner and and the concert!!

Hope everyone is doing well.

Morning to all. I have not posted much; it's year end here at work and I'm so busy. Plus I'm leaving a week from today for Egypt so I've got more pressure to get the year end process going with my staff before I leave. And we are switching insurance carriers so today I have to update the Injury and Illness Prevention Program. I lead an exciting life. :scared:

Janet, way to go on the Disney trip. I won't be back until October of next year. Depending on my mother's medical condition, we hope to go to Costa Rica next year for our big vacation. Well, I should say my husband hopes to go. 2011 is his pick (we rotate). Costa Rica would not be in my list. The only rule is that we can't go to the same place twice. I think he's trying to pay me back for Egypt, not a place he was all that excited to visit.

My mom is waiting to hear if she's got lung cancer. The Big C is a real problem in my family. My mother is not as tough as I am emotionally so it's been hard seeing her fear and resignation. She's 73 and the first person in her family to pass the age of 70 (all have died from cancer) so she's already written herself off.

I can't believe I forgot True Confession Thursday. :upsidedow

Hello again everybody,

Sorry to hear about the ongoing medical issues with loved ones. I'm thinking good thoughts for all of you.

Yay, Janet, for your spur of the moment trip! Have a great time! My sisters and I are sneaking in two days at Disneyland after our cruise!

Sandee - How's the vacation planning going? Where are you thinking about going?

Faith - I probably already mentioned that my older daughter lived for a year and a 1/2 in Costa Rica, and we really enjoyed visiting her there for a week. My favorite part was visiting Arenal volcano. (Not that I'm trying to twist your arm or anything ;) )

I have pre-trip butterflies, but I'm excited to be going on my first cruise!
Hey Faith - how much do you have to pack for Egypt?

Joan

I just want to say that though our little group has its quiet moments, I always enjoy hearing what's up with all of you.

I feel this way too :goodvibes

So we in the same boat we were 2 mo ago. No answers. I am currently looking for a new neuro to go to, as we were NOT pleased with this one.

Dax: sorry you continue not to get any answers on your DH's issues. Hopefully a new neuro will really listen to you and provide you with a better course of action.

Faith: Hopefully your mom receives good news - how nerve wracking it must be for her (and you). We all be thinking positive thoughts for you both

Joan - just saw your new post! How nice you are ending your trip with 2 days at Disneyland! :cool1:

Hi everybody!! :wave2: Glad to see everyone's posts. I was afraid we were losing our little thread. :sad1:

Janet: that is exactly what I do in a restaurant! Order last, blurt something & then wonder if I should have ordered something different. I seem to have favorites at each different restaurant we go to. I deliberate with getting something different for about five minutes. Then end up ordering my old stand by. :rotfl: And yeah for the last minute vacation! Let me know how the crowds are; that's the week I'm considering going next year. Have fun!

Dax: I'm so sorry your husband's neuro did't help. :sad2: He must be getting so frustrated & tired of being in pain. And I'm sure you are exhusted from worrying about him & helping him get relief. Hugs & prayers to you both. Enjoy the concert!

Pakey: So sorry your mom is sick. Hopefully anything they find is early & treatable. 73 is not that old. It must be scary for her, knowing all her family had passed at a younger age than she is. All she needs to do tho is look to you for inspiration! :goodvibes Good luck with your end of year stuff & have a great vacation!!!

Joan: Hope you have fun with your sisters! Can't wait to hear about your trip. I have always wanted to go on a cruise; I think I'd love the relaxing, lieing around the pool & all the meals. Unfortunately, I get extremely motion sick at even the slightest thing, so I have ruled out ever taking a cruise. I am too afraid I'd be sick the whole time & waste all that money.

You'll have to let me know how the construction is going at DL. Dh wanted to go to Disneyland next year, but with the construction & updates going on, we're now thinking of waiting until 2012. We seem to go to DL every 4-5 years, so we might as well wait & go when all the rehab is done. So it will be back to WDW for us. I keep offering other places to go, but DH just wants to relax & WDW is it for him. I can't complain about that, now can I? ;) He is mid level management at a food production plant & works 50-60 hr. weeks. He only gets 3 weeks vacation. I get 6 -7 weeks off & only work part time now, so vacations are whatever he wants/ needs them to be. I just need to sync up our weeks & make the plans. We always joke that all he needs to do for vacation is show up at the airport on time! :rotfl2:

have a good week all! :goodvibes

Oh my goodness - the Carnival Splendor had an engine room fire yesterday and has to be towed into port. Thankfully everyone is ok. I guess I won't be cruising next week after all.

Oh No! That is your ship? I saw the blurb on CNN but didn't hear all the details, only that ship was stranded after a fire. Thankfully everyone is OK, right? I'm sorry you won't get your trip with your sisters next week. How disappointing! I hope you can make some alternate plans with them...

Thanks Sandee. We're trying to decide whether to just postpone or try to come up with somewhere else. This trip was for my sister's 50th, so it's somewhat up to her. It's disappointing, but we'll have fun wherever/whenever we go.

Joan, I'm so sorry to hear about your boat. What are the odds and how terrible to get so close to vacation and have this happen. I would be devastated. I hope if you do postpone, they give all of you a nice big upgrade for the inconvenience. Maybe the Presidential Suite or something. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!!

I'm not packing yet. I won't do that until Sunday night or maybe even Monday morning since we don't have to be to the airport until noon. Both my husband and I are each taking a carry on bag and that's it. He's a notorious overpacker and doesn't have as good of a suitcase as I do but he tells me he can do it. We shall see.

Dax, I'm sorry I missed your earlier post regarding the neurologist. That is terrible. Are you on an HMO? My mother is on an HMO and I'm so frustrated with the length of time everything is taking in comparison to how fast I get in, get test results, etc. And there's no excuse for not cross checking meds. I'm on a pill form of chemo and everything always gets cross checked; it takes just a minute to do it. I can't imagine how frustrating this all must be for you.

Thanks Sandee. We're trying to decide whether to just postpone or try to come up with somewhere else. This trip was for my sister's 50th, so it's somewhat up to her. It's disappointing, but we'll have fun wherever/whenever we go.

Joan,
I'm so sorry that this had to happen to you and your sisters. Have you heard anything from Carnival as yet?

Of course, you COULD do something spontaneous and celebrate a 50th birthday in Disney World :cool1: Say, leave for Disney around 11/18 and I could meet up with you all for a drink :goodvibes!!

Seriously, hope you will be able to have a great time, whether you decide to do something now or postpone it to a later time.
J

Thanks Faith and Janet. It looks like we'll still be heading down for a few days at Disneyland next week, and doing something else after the holidays. Carnival emailed us about the cancellation yesterday, and Expedia is processing our refund today. We can also get our airfare and any hotel cancellation fees refunded, and 25% off a future cruise. It was a little disappointing at first, but we're very happy we weren't on this week's sailing. Those poor people!

On a happier note, I hope all goes smoothly for Faith's trip to Egypt! I hope you have an amazing time! Can't wait to hear all about it!

Hey everybody!

Have a great weekend! I'm headed off to Southern California all next week so I'll see you back here Thanksgiving week!

Bon Voyage Faith!

and

Enjoy WDW Janet!

Bumping to say Hi! :wave2:

And Have A Great Trip Faith!!!!! :wave:pixiedust:

Joan & Janet, too! :goodvibes Guess it is gonna be quiet here this week. Have fun all!!! :goodvibes

Thanks guys. I will be leaving for the airport shortly. My mother found out on Friday she does indeed have lung cancer that has possibly spread to her brain. And then my father was taken my ambulance on Saturday and remains in the hospital (not life threatening but he's in unbearable pain and they must get that under control before they can release him). They have both insisted that my husband and I continue with this vacation. I have 2 brothers here who will make sure they have everything they need but I go with a heavy heart and will be forcing myself to enjoy it.

Faith, I'm so sorry about your mom & dad's health issues. Prayers & good thoughts for you all. I hope you'll be able to relax & enjoy the trip. You need some time to destress, I'm sure. You'll be in my thoughts....:flower3:

Hey everyone! I was searching for the thread this morning and couldn't find it. So glad to see it back up!

Pakey, OMG I am so sorry for your mom and dad's health. Prayers are being sent your way. I hope you have an amazing trip and have wonderful weather.

Is everyone ready for Thanksgiving? I think I have everything I need for the dinner and best thing about it, my vacation starts this Friday and I won't be back until the 29th! I am not going anywhere, just staying at home and getting the house ready for selling.

Hope everyone is doing alright. Love and hugs to all of you going thru a difficult time right now.

Hey all....doing OK...tomorrow marks 1 week since we lost Zelda, and her presence being gone has been felt in the house...Its an adjustment..

Otherwise, steady as she goes...Tomorrow is our concert in Tampa to see Roger Waters..I am BEYOND excited for it. We have had the tickets since June and its DH's birthday gift. So thats a plus..

As for Thanksgiving...I got it easy...we going to Chef Mickey's! I cant wait.
