Does Tom Hanks' character follow the red-haired woman?

I think they cut something. I thought he did go after her.

And my husband said something earlier about the box and he could have used whatever it was.... ? It's been a long time since I've seen that movie.

I'm half tempted to write ABC.

I didn't see tonight's showing on ABC of the movie, but I remember the very end, they show him standing by his truck. I think the director(Robert Zumeckis?) leaves it up to your imagination( whether Tom Hanks' character goes after the woman or not). I'm guessing he eventully goes after the woman, at least he knows where she lives!

I believe they did leave it to your imagination. He had the world opened to him, his choice...he had choices.

As for the package, he kept it sealed, the only one he did keep sealed, because it gave him something to live for...yeah, for all he knew it could have held matches and a long-distance transmitter of some sort, but keeping it sealed kept normalcy and hope alive.

That ending at the crossroads is a metaphor for the crossroads we all face at one time or another. He had 4 choices of direction there, all leading to a different life. We are to determine our own version of what we think he does. I think he goes after her too. Especially since she had those angel wings painted all over her farm ~ some connection he felt to her since he painted those wings on that port a potty sail that saved his life by allowing him to get over the breaker waves and leave that island.

I hate them. I like to know the ending and then I can decide if I like it or not ;) I think he found her and had a second chance at love...... My DH is a psy/soc teacher and they watch this movie in class (something for Psy) anyway the kids have to write how they think it ends. They have come up with many good endings. I like mine....true love!

Remember the commercial that came along after that movie... It wasn't Hanks, but a fellow delivers the box. She doesn't open it and he asks what was in it... she replies with something like, "oh, not much, emergcency signal beacon, satellite phone, flares"

I remember the commercial, but I have no idea what product it was for. Not sure if that's good advertising or not ; )

My husband must have been thinking of the commercial then. He was torturing us because I could not remember what was in the box and I'm better at remembering plot lines than he his. Thought I was going insane.

Sorry, ABC. :goodvibes

I can't stand that movie..over an hour of Tom Hanks talking to a volleyball of all things!
