The End of an Era - Where Dreams Come True at Pop & Kidani **NEW 5/28 FINALE

Wow, was that supposed to be a child's sundae? I think I would have gone for the No Way Jose. Did you say anything to the server about your microscopic dish of ice cream? Like, can ya throw some hot fudge on this baby or something?!

She ordered the Mud Slide. Thankfully she couldn't finish it all herself so I got to help her. Not like I was too full from my dessert..... People, when you go to B&C and order ice cream, order one of the items that is at least $7.99. Don't be disappointed like I was. I literally stole some of Bubba's hot fudge to add to mine!

Note to Self: Order the Mud Slide. It looks delicious and just enough to be decadent without being outrageous.

Okay...all caught up......:thumbsup2

Good. Now that I know, we can move on!

No I didn't say anything :headache: I really should've asked for a splash of hot fudge. Not speaking up is one of my biggest flaws....

Note to Self: Order the Mud Slide. It looks delicious and just enough to be decadent without being outrageous.

Yes, the Mud Slide is a good choice if you wanted something like a SUNDAE but isn't ghastly huge. I'm going to try the No Way Jose or Milky way next time. Sharing with my mom of course :goodvibes

I'm finally catching up on my ptr/tr's after a few weeks off the boards. (darn kids get in the way of me and my "imaginary" friends. Tokyo Sining looks yummy. We're booked there in May, but I don't know if we'll keep it because of the time. One of my goals in life is to order a kitchen sink. (I sure dream big, don't I?

Can't wait to hear more!

Imaginary?! We're the real deal, even if we're not physically there ;) I hope you'll keep Tokyo Dining. Especially if you like sushi and/or Japanese food. The Kitchen Sink, yes you certainly DO dream big :lmao:

Another update coming today

The answer to where we ended up next was…….

r6x1ud.jpg

The picture for the hint was of the design on the benches just outside the restaurant. Take a good look the next time you’re sitting on the bench, waiting for your name to be called.

Rewinding a little bit, to before we had left for the trip, when everything was still in its planning stages. We originally had an 8:05am ADR at CP. I liked this because we could get early entry into the park and have our picture taken in front of the castle in an empty park. I started to re-think this decision as in November, I had booked us an early Boma breakfast but ended up sleeping through it. We just couldn’t get ourselves out of bed! To give ourselves a break, I decided to book a later ADR at CP for 9:20am. Here’s where I went against all the rules…… I kept BOTH ADRs. I know!!! I feel ashamed of myself. But it was Bubba’s idea! She thought just in case we did decide to go early, we’d still have that option.
Fast forward to Day 2 of our trip, we had set the alarm for 7:00am and quickly got ourselves ready. Thank goodness we had Bubba’s car. Just sayin’ Instead of parking at MK, we parked at the Poly and took the monorail… or did we park at the Poly and walk to TTC? I can’t remember. Either way, we made it to MK somehow! People were already starting to show up but mostly they were here for breakfast.

The park was empty. What bliss it was!

I made sure to get the clock in to remember what time it was when we got there. As you can see, we were already running a bit late….

We checked in and waited maybe 5 minutes for our names to be called. Our table was to the right as you walk in. I’ve never had a table on the left side of the restaurant. It must be some banishment upon me that I wasn’t aware of. On first impression, there were no noticeable changes to the restaurant from the renovation. I wondered what was redone to force them to close CP. To curb my curiosity, I asked our server, Frankie, for information about the renovation. He posed himself in the most comfortable of positions, like he was hanging out with two of his best buds. Seemed a bit TOO comfortable… if you know what I mean. Anyways, he proceeded to explain that all the light fixtures and the glass in the dome had been replaced. Apparently it looked a lot better but from my eyes, it didn’t seem like a huge difference.

Here’s the “new” light fixtures

Once our server left to get our drinks, no sooner did we have our first visitor from the Hundred Acre Wood :

zleow5.jpg

Then Tigger came bouncing along before we could get up to grab food. Bubba got his autograph

9kz0vr.jpg

Actually, Tigger was a little less bouncier than usual that morning. When we got close to take a picture, Bubba said she could smell the alcohol on him :scared1: Are we a bit hungover there Tigger?

Once the character bombardment had passed, we left to grab some food

My first plate

The Mickey waffles were a little overdone and crispy. We still ate them though. The fruit was fresh and the scrambled eggs were yummo! We both went back one more time and got ourselves a bowl of cereal and a couple other goodies. Once again, the food at CP was a delight! The service on the other hand..... tsk, tsk, tsk. When it came time to get our bill, Frankie was nowhere to be found. It was pushing 9 o'clock park opening time. I wanted to be out and on my way to Space Mountain in front of the hoards of people! Finally, after a few minutes, our server brought the bill.

It came to $55.70 with TIW - I'm just reviewing the bill (as I kept all receipts) and it looks like we were charged an additional $11.99 for a "KM Brkfst". What the heck is that???? Did our server overcharge us?!!? I didn't notice this until now!

Just as Bubba was settling the bill, I looked outside to see the floodgates had already opened and people were entering the park! Bubba was trying to leave exact change for the bill and was taking FOREVER! I just slapped down a $1 bill, called it even, and we bolted out of there!

We entered the fray of Space Mountain fanatics with speed and agusto

This ride still has quite the popularity after being closed down for so long.

We quickly but calmly got closer....

Grabbed a Fastpass

and entered the stand-by line

n2o9z6.jpg

We got on in less than 5 minutes flat.

2le2ety.jpg

The stand-by line was still short when we got off, so we rode it again!

282l65w.jpg

I look rather bored don't I?

After the second ride, we had an hour to kill before our fastpass time was due so we headed towards Fantasyland. Bubba got her hands on my camera to document the entire walk.

We didn't ride Dumbo this morning. Instead, our destination was:

11qk4ee.jpg

I had never been on this ride so I was curious to see what all the hoopla was about. Bubba said I'd be sorely disappointed by the end. Regardless, I still wanted to experience it, especially after finally seeing the movie for the first time earlier this year.

The line was already a bit long so we passed the time by taking random pictures

euo41v.jpg

Our feet being of the utmost importance.

The ride was pretty creepy, especially if I were a 5 year old. I'm glad I had seen the movie as it made the ride a bit more meaningful. Can't say I'll be making this ride a must-do anytime soon. Bubba was right. But nothing is worse than this ride:

1pea77.jpg

We sauntered (not walked, sauntered - there's a difference!) over to:

n46k1.jpg

to ride upon one of the most beautiful carousels I've seen. I never give this ride much thought when I'm in MK. It's a carousel. You see them everywhere. But after reading about Cinderella's horse with the pink bow and watching home videos of me as a 4 year old riding the carousel, I had to get myself to ride it again.

When we were let on, I scoured more than half the horses to find Cinderella's horse but to no avail. To avoid risk of losing any chance of finding a decent horse, I grabbed the first horse in front of me

My lovely steed for the ride
166nvq.jpg

Bubba's steed was a bit more aggressive so she tried to soothe it was a nice pat.

169rkzk.jpg

The ride began and I was in my glory

30djgwk.jpg

To think 20 years ago, I was riding this exact carousel with my mom and Bubba. Scary.

245ass0.jpg

As the ride slowed and came to a halt, my flashback faded to a distant memory. I dismounted my trusty steed and waved goodbye.

14oafwg.jpg

As we were leaving, I noticed people comically trying to pull the sword from the stone. I never notice this monument when I'm in Fantasyland until I noticed pictures of it here on the DIS. Finally I made it necessary to seek it out.

14ch9wo.jpg

Finished with Fantasyland, we embarked the Haunted Mansion

qzhmb7.jpg

In the cemetery, we noticed a gravestone with a rose set upon it

10mirsm.jpg

I had never seen this before, neither had Bubba. Keep your eye out next time you're in line at Haunted Mansion. There might be something new!

Our Space Mountain fastpass time was coming due so we headed in that direction, walking back through Fantasyland. As we were passing the castle, Bubba spotted the Fairy Godmother. She started freaking out because she so badly wanted to get a picture with her. Bubba had heard the rumour that they were getting rid of her character completely. As far as I had heard, they were only getting rid of her in CRT. I certainly hope they're not getting rid of the character completely. That would be another atrocity!

So we got in line with Bubba anxious to meet and speak with the all magical Fairy Godmother. The line wasn't terrible but it was rather comical we were the only 20+ year olds in line. Didn't bother me! Once it was Bubba's turn, she had great interaction with the FGM.

1z2neaq.jpg

They talked and talked and talked. I can't remember what about. I recall they had a pen debacle, where Bubba's pen had unfortunately exploded, which FGM noticed. So she pulled out another pen - always prepared! FGM was a lovely lady to talk to. It was really something special to see Bubba have a great interaction with her.

2ch6iqp.jpg

Now that we had found what Bubba was looking for, I wanted to seek out something special of my own:

The Wishing Well

madw5e.jpg

Making a wish in this well triples if not quadruples the likelihood of it coming true. Come on, when you're in the most magical place on earth, where dreams come true where else will you find a better place to make a wish?! Bubba and I each threw in a lucky penny with a wish in a hope that it would someday come true.

foop79.jpg

We went back over to Space Mountain to get in our last ride of the day. The stand-by line was already close to a 45 minute wait by this point.

28b6ws9.jpg

It was time to head towards Adventureland where there be pirates pirate: On our way, the Move It, Shake it, Celebrate it crossed our path. Bubba was keen on skipping it, but I knew my beloved Chip & Dale would be on one of those floats! We stayed put until they came round.

continued in next post....

I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

We danced with Chip for a while until I was satisfied. We headed towards Adventureland and made a pitstop at Aloha Isle for the heavenly Dole Whip. They had the fans BLASTING, as always. I assume this is to keep the bugs at bay but it really does a number on your hairdo. I approached the CM and explained that I wanted to use 1 snack credit for a Dole Whip and pay OOP for a bottle of water. She scoffed and gave me attitude like it was some copious task of inputing my order in two separate transactions. They brought me my Dole Whip and bottled water but as I was putting my money away, the CM pointed out that my Dole Whip was going to melt staying under the fan. Well maybe you shouldn't have the fans FULL BLAST, there's a thought! I didn't say that of course. I finished getting organized, moved away from the fans, and waited for Bubba to finish getting her order.

Annoyances aside, here is my lovely Dole Whip, after being slightly melted under the fans:

2l9nkh1.jpg

I had to eat a couple spoonfuls to keep it from running down the sides of the cup.

Bubba ordered a Dole Whip Float

205qz3c.jpg

In hindsight I should've ordered one of those. Much more bang for your buck using a snack credit.

Total: 2 snack credits, $2.50 for Bottled water

We people watched for a bit then rode POTC

I knew Splash Mountain was down for refurbishment but was interested to see what it looked like when it was closed. So we headed in that direction.

2d9tz0z.jpg

We spotted these amazing crystal statues of a variety of Disney characters. This one in particular was a favourite of mine:

10p84uw.jpg

The price tag was a little steep so we moved on.

We made it to Splash Mountain, where it was silent and dead looking. No water was running through its intricate waterways. No screaming of small children or adults.

14lqy45.jpg

2hzgumq.jpg

By this point, it was getting close to 1 o'clock - our nap time. We decided to head towards the front of the park. Before we left, Bubba made a stop in the Confectionary. She wanted to get White Hot Chocolate mix for my older step-sister's birthday. Of course she'd be sending it home with me

rsfw54.jpg

2m44lsh.jpg

I also bought myself a big box of those Mickey Coconut Patties. Something I always get when I'm in Disney.

We left the park and boarded the monorail to take us back to TTC/Poly - still can't remember where we had parked.

Where do we end up next?

5v7pkj.jpg

So Tigger had a hangover... I remember a few CM parties- this doesn't surprise me. But to smell it the day after??!! :scared1: Zowie!

In hindsight the CP was an obvious answer for the picture. DUH!!

I can't wait to ride SM with the refurb!! I hope my neck cooperates.

Cindy's horse has a GOLD bow, not pink.

See the bow?? I thought it'd be a lot bigger and more prominent, but was rather deflated at its size.

Just found your TR and loving it..... Great pictures! Love TR's full of pics. :thumbsup2

Looking forward to more. ;)

Monster update Jenbear! You covered a lot!

Actually, Tigger was a little less bouncier than usual that morning. When we got close to take a picture, Bubba said she could smell the alcohol on him :scared1: Are we a bit hungover there Tigger?

That's saying something, if Bubba could smell it through the costume. :scared1:

When it came time to get our bill, Frankie was nowhere to be found. It was pushing 9 o'clock park opening time. I wanted to be out and on my way to Space Mountain in front of the hoards of people! Finally, after a few minutes, our server brought the bill.

I hate it when you're ready to leave and the server is nowhere to be found.

The stand-by line was still short when we got off, so we rode it again!

Wow, you got a lot of Space Mountain rides in. Good job!

I look rather bored don't I?

Well yeah, after riding it umpteen times!

After the second ride, we had an hour to kill before our fastpass time was due so we headed towards Fantasyland. Bubba got her hands on my camera to document the entire walk.

4jnwr4.jpg

Now we know what it would look like to tour with Jenbear, when she's on a mission.

In the cemetery, we noticed a gravestone with a rose set upon it

10mirsm.jpg

I had never seen this before, neither had Bubba. Keep your eye out next time you're in line at Haunted Mansion. There might be something new!

Oh Jenbear, Jenbear, Jenbear. It made an appearance in my trip report. Now I wonder if you would have been able to give Tribilin a run for his money in my quick little quiz after all. :sad2:

Bubba ordered a Dole Whip Float

205qz3c.jpg

I'm with Bubba -- the float is the way to go.

I also bought myself a big box of those Mickey Coconut Patties. Something I always get when I'm in Disney.

I'm not familiar with these...I may have to look for them. Are they like a Mounds bar?

Where do we end up next?

5v7pkj.jpg

Is it from one of the resorts? Like Boardwalk or Beach Club?

I hope they're not getting rid of Fairy Godmother. We've seen this very one many times - so sweet. They need some characters spread around the park to help with crowd levels in other places and to interject some random magic as you are just walking around.

I'm enjoying your 'sister and me' report and pictures. :)

P.S. We've eaten at Crystal Palace three times and have been seated to the right every time, too. Probably pure coincidence.

Great update!

I love CP for breakfast! We went there on our trip and the puffed cinnamon french toast is so good!

How do you like the Space Mountain refurbishment?

Sorry about the Aloha Island CMs! I love the dole whip floats but I get the orange dole whip instead of the pineapple

Can't wait to see where you end up next since I have no clue from that picture :lmao:

Tigger does look off in that picture. I wonder how often CMs are drunk or hungover.

Yes, the float looks like the best choice, but both look delicious.

28b6ws9.jpg

I love that picture of you and Bubba!

No...is it the one behind the saddle (that Bekka? is on) or the one on the tail?

The gold one, on the tail. The one Mikki is on (with white overalls). It really is not so very big and gold.

Hmmmm..... the old phonograph thingy??

Was it from GF somewhere?? I"m saying a resort, but really don't know which one. I'm at a disadvantage here having only been to the Poly and the Fort. THAT, my friend, will all change in just a few short months!!!
