The End of an Era - Where Dreams Come True at Pop & Kidani **NEW 5/28 FINALE

:cool1:Welcome!:cool1: Glad you joined in! Put Sum of All Thrills on your list for next time. When was the last time you were there?

Last week :lmao:

Awesome luck with the Pick a Pearl!

That sushi looks so good! I had sushi at Teppan Edo which was also very good!

Looking forward to what you get at Beaches and Cream

Love the setting you picked for your Pick-a-Pearl. So much in fact, I picked it myself! :rotfl:

Nice taste!

I love the Pick A Pearl. When we went in 07, my mother in law said the countries were a waste of time, so we never went. I am planning to do that with me & my daughter & make it a tradition that everytime we go, we pick a pearl together.

Waste of time?! :scared1: Good thing she's not related  That's a great mother-daughter thing to do. In fact, that gives me an idea for my next trip in April, since I'm going with my mom. Not sure if my bank account will let me do it every time or that I will want to do it every time. I'd have pearls coming out my wazoo! I'm not a big jewelry person either but once in a while, a pearl is nice to add to the collection.

Last week :lmao:

You lucky devil! How was the weather? Are you writing a TR?

Awesome luck with the Pick a Pearl!

It was good I suppose. I was hoping to be one of those people who get two pearls in one oyster.

That sushi looks so good! I had sushi at Teppan Edo which was also very good!

Everything is good in Japan. Even the men :lmao:

Looking forward to what you get at Beaches and Cream

I'll say now that I will not order what I got again.... very disappointing. You'll see why....

Love the setting you picked for your Pick-a-Pearl. So much in fact, I picked it myself! :rotfl:

Nice taste!

:rotfl: Really? You got the same setting? Amazing! It's just so simple and feminine looking. Great choice!

We walked over to Japan, munching on some chocolate we purchased from Germany (or was it Norway? I can't remember).

Walked? Walked? The way I understood it, you were practically "on the lam" after misbehaving in Italy. The term I remember was "hightailed it out of there". ;)

I elbowed my way up to the cash register to pay the $17 for the pearl.

Way to push those people who were looking for free entertainment out of the way. :thumbsup2

They put me on center stage as I sought out the ugliest oyster my eyes could see.

I like that you approached the decision with a clearly thought-out strategy.

The price can add up quickly if you want the whole works. I would recommend this experience to all you jewelry lovers out there. Picking the pearl is one thing - but to decide what to do with it afterwards is a whole new price tag!

I think I posted on Liesa's thread that Judy convinced me to spring for a pearl one time when we visited San Francisco waaaay back before kids. It seemed like a bargain to me. I was completely short-sighted and never considered the setting and the chain. Ay-yi-yi.

We looked through the rest of the store and bought us some delicious Hi-Chew candy. I also tried my tastebuds on these almond caramel chewy candy. I was very pleased with my selection :goodvibes

Bubba likes the Hi-Chew candy so much that she bought an entire box of it!

Sounds good, but I don't think I want that much sticky stuff in my teeth. :teeth:

So we took a break on a bench in the nice sunshine

Lookin' a little pink on the ol' noggin' there jenbear....were you good about applying sunscreen?

When I was thoroughly rested, we headed over to the American Adventure.

An attraction I've never done (yet). :guilty:

We took our time looking at the fishies and visiting the manatees until we had about 15 minutes to get our butts over to Japan.

I think we ate here on a spur-of-the-moment thing (ie. no ADR) back in 2005. One side of the restaurant was tempura-only (where they had room for us) and the other side (no table available) had other offerings. Does that sound like the right place? I decided I didn't really like tempura, or at least a whole meal of it.

For our main meal, I ordered an Avocado roll, Salmon roll, and Tempura roll. (No Dynamite roll for me this time!)

ogcrbr.jpg

Man, that looks good.

Bubba ordered the Sashimi Sampler (again) and the Eel sushi

5aevkn.jpg

Did you try the eel? I told you before, it's my favorite.

Total was $51.96 with TIW

For both of you, I hope.

There was a little confusion when it came to finding our dessert spot. But with a little wandering in the hallways and following signs that lead us in all sorts of directions, we made it!

1z7vpu.jpg

Oh good -- another place I haven't been to yet.

You've made me even more excited to pick my pearl!! I love your pix!!! I want a ring though. maybe there won't be too many hidden costs in that. :confused3

Mmmm..... sushi. I'm planning on my sushi fest at the Kona cart one night while we're at the poly!

I'm more excited about seeing the VoL than the show again. Although the show brings up poinant feelings of our heritage, and left me teary, I don't have to see it again. Esp. over the France and Canada ones I haven't yet.

We're pretty excited for our B&C visit! Can't wait for your dessert pictures!!

Great Update......

Your pearl is beautiful and I love the setting. That experience sounds like so much fun and it really makes you appreciate where pearls come from.

The sushi at Tokyo dinning looks amazing. Topped off with Beaches and Cream for dessert - a definite winner. Beautiful picture from the Beach Club. Looks like a lovely evening.

Walked? Walked? The way I understood it, you were practically "on the lam" after misbehaving in Italy. The term I remember was "hightailed it out of there". ;)

You're quite right! We did leave at a faster than normal pace ;)

Way to push those people who were looking for free entertainment out of the way. :thumbsup2

I did it as politely as I could

I like that you approached the decision with a clearly thought-out strategy.

I read somewhere on the DIS that the ugliest oysters usually carry the rare blue pearl or sometimes two pearls.

I think I posted on Liesa's thread that Judy convinced me to spring for a pearl one time when we visited San Francisco waaaay back before kids. It seemed like a bargain to me. I was completely short-sighted and never considered the setting and the chain. Ay-yi-yi.

It's okay. Men aren't expected to consider that much about jewelry :rotfl:

Lookin' a little pink on the ol' noggin' there jenbear....were you good about applying sunscreen?

I kinda forgot the sunscreen.....and because I'm so fair skinned, it didn't take long to turn a shade of pink. Only lasted the first day. After that, the weather lacked much sunlight

An attraction I've never done (yet). :guilty:

Tsk tsk

Not sure about tempura-only, but one side is Teppan Edo, and the other is Tokyo Dining. Teppan Edo does the Teppanyaki while Teppan Edo is more sushi oriented.

Man, that looks good.

It was!

Did you try the eel? I told you before, it's my favorite.

Yup. It was rather tasty. Not sure I could eat it often though

For both of you, I hope.

Oh yes. Definitely for the two of us!

Oh good -- another place I haven't been to yet.

Dude, you're list of things to-do is growing!

You've made me even more excited to pick my pearl!! I love your pix!!! I want a ring though. maybe there won't be too many hidden costs in that. :confused3

Naw, for a ring you probably just need to pay for the picking of the pearl and the ring setting. Everything is priced so you'll know the pricetag :thumbsup2

Mmmm..... sushi. I'm planning on my sushi fest at the Kona cart one night while we're at the poly!

Thanks for reminding me! I'll definitely have to make a stop at the Kona cart to get my sushi fix when we're at the Poly.

I'm more excited about seeing the VoL than the show again. Although the show brings up poinant feelings of our heritage, and left me teary, I don't have to see it again. Esp. over the France and Canada ones I haven't yet.

We didn't get to see VoL when we were there. In fact, I think we just missed them. I'll have to make a point of seeing them in April

We're pretty excited for our B&C visit! Can't wait for your dessert pictures!!

My dessert from B&C is rather inadequate... but Bubba's shouldn't disappoint!

Great Update......

Your pearl is beautiful and I love the setting. That experience sounds like so much fun and it really makes you appreciate where pearls come from.

It does. I can't imagine being one of those people who are responsible for prying open all those oysters.

The sushi at Tokyo dinning looks amazing. Topped off with Beaches and Cream for dessert - a definite winner. Beautiful picture from the Beach Club. Looks like a lovely evening.

It was amazing! My first night (wow, can't believe I did all this on my first day!) was nicely planned out.

yes I am writing a TR the link is in my siggie!
:lmao: about the Japan comment

Oh no! What could possibly be bad at Beaches and Cream? :confused3
popcorn::

I'll go check out your TR. :surfweb:

Not that anything was bad.... ice cream can NEVER be bad. The size of it however.... well, you'll see.

Wow, that's a really pretty shot!

Can't wait to hear if you guys went for the kitchen sink! :scared1:

It took me a few tries to get that shot not blurry. Glad you like it :goodvibes

You'll just have to wait and see about what we got. There was some long debate about the kitchen sink...:rolleyes1

The coveted Beaches and Cream. Finally, after all the hype I had read, I was going to try it for myself. They do not accept ADRs so we ended up having to wait a good 30 minutes before we were sat. By the looks of it, there was a large party in there before us. Not good timing on our part. To pass the time, I took some pictures of the surroundings and Storm Along Bay.

My mom and I almost ended up booking our stay for April here. Then we realized the cost and thought it was just too pricey. Someday SAB, I will swim in your waters.

Here's the menu offerings at B&C:

2s7asuu.jpg

When our buzzer still didn't go off, Bubba and I got into a heated debate about ordering the Kitchen Sink. She was convinced that we were going to order it. There was NO way I was going to be able to eat even a quarter of it. Plus, I hate to waste all that yummy ice cream so I would be obligated to eat it all. This would inevitably lead to a very upset tummy. I was determined not to have a repeat of my stomach issues like on my last trip in November.... After much persuasion on my part, Bubba accepted the fact that we were not going to order the Kitchen Sink. Sorry folks. No humungous bucket of ice cream for us.

Just before 8pm, we were given our table and ordered drinks. Bubba got a Cherry Sprite

29p8861.jpg

And because I liked the classic bottles, I ordered myself a $3 coke

255qq7p.jpg

My eyes were set on the Mickey Mouse Sundae. I had a vision in my head of this large sundae with a large Mickey Mouse shaped cookie on top. You know, that ad that was being circulated last year for the Disney Dining plan? It had a little boy sitting in B&C and a server is placing this HUGE sundae in front of him with a giant cookie on top in the shape of a classic Mickey. (If I could find a picture I'd post it!) Well, I thought that's what I was getting. I was expecting this big, generous size of a sundae with gooey hot fudge and whipped cream, topped with a giant cookie.......

:hyper:

It was going to be big!

:hyper:

It was going to be gooey!

:hyper:

It was going to be oh so yummy!

Instead, this is what appeared in front of me

1z3ypow.jpg

:faint: Really? I mean, seriously? You call this a sundae? How can you call this a sundae? Where is the whipped cream? Where's the hot fudge (or any topping for that matter) to qualify this as a sundae?! You can't just take one maraschino cherry, two chocolate chips, and two oreo cookies and call this a sundae! I felt like my rights as an ice cream eater had been violated. Okay, NOW I want the Kitchen Sink! At least then I know I'd be getting a substantial portion of ice cream! I was not pleased. Can you tell? Especially when my sister got this placed in front of her:

wld5wi.jpg

Now THAT'S a sundae!!!! She ordered the Mud Slide. Thankfully she couldn't finish it all herself so I got to help her. Not like I was too full from my dessert..... People, when you go to B&C and order ice cream, order one of the items that is at least $7.99. Don't be disappointed like I was. I literally stole some of Bubba's hot fudge to add to mine! B&C is a definite do-over.

Total with TIW $19.27

By the time our meal was finished, the entirety of the day's activities was starting to get to me. I was tired. It was time for us to bring our first day to a close. We headed back to Pop to call it a night.

Until next time, here's a sneak peek of where we end up next:

2e3ok8p.jpg

Any guesses?

Jordan, you can't help yourself- you're a lot like me---- compulsive! It's a disease. Let me know when you want intervention. :lmao:

Yeah, I'd so be totally underwhelmed at that too!! Sheesh, what a complete rip off!! Where is their sense of sundae duty?? Their morality? I mean is that even legal to call that a sunae and be void of sauce whatsoever?? :confused3

Gosh!! I have no idea where that is!! MK in Lib Square??

Not a clue.

LOL at the "sundae!" Atleast it is cute. :cutie:

When we stayed at the BCV a couple years ago we got some ice cream from Beaches and Cream. We were by the pool and all of a sudden heard these sirens going off. Someone inside ordered the Kitchen Sink. :scared1: I don't know how anybody can eat that.

Oh no! That is a small sundae! :rotfl:

Sorry you were disappointed!

I have been there twice and we have gotten the Milky Way and the Banana Split so hopefully next time you try beaches and cream you won't be disappointed!

Jenbear, that was an amazingly small sundae! I kept looking at it trying to figure out if those were oversized oreos. If they're normal-sized, that is an unbelievably small sundae. (And I think that's the case.) :rotfl2:

That cherry sprite looks really good to me for some reason.

I have no idea where that picture is from. (I did know the China ceiling one, but never got around to posting.) The "guess this picture" is a good idea for a trip report teaser.

god help me I'm subbing to another report

You picked a good one bud.

I just found your report. I am a little late but joining in anyway.

I love your pick a pearl pictures and the setting you chose is exactly how I want mine to look. I will be there in May and am really looking foward to this. I already know I will do it and am thinking of letting me 5 year old daughter do it too and getting her a carriage cage holder off ebay. I just know there will be drama either way. If I do it and she doesn't she will be upset. If we both do it and my pearl is better she will be upset. You just can't win with a 5 year old.

Anyway love your pictures. Beaches and Cream looks yummy. They call that a sundae?

Hey Guys, was there a PTR for this one??

Just wondering.... :rolleyes1

That sundae does look disappointingly small! It looks like one of the kid's desserts at friendly's. Thanks for the advice regarding what to order. Noted!

Oh...and the picture....I am guessing it is a chair outside of the Plaza restaurant or maybe Casey's.

god help me I'm subbing to another report

JORDAN IS HERE! :worship: Whoops.... where is my composure? Ahem. Welcome! I've read all your PTRs and TRs (not every page of course, that would be olympic in itself) and you always make me laugh. Great to have you here :cutie:

Jordan, you can't help yourself- you're a lot like me---- compulsive! It's a disease. Let me know when you want intervention. :lmao:

I've got about 19 threads I'm subscribed to. I don't know how I keep up with them all!

Yeah, I'd so be totally underwhelmed at that too!! Sheesh, what a complete rip off!! Where is their sense of sundae duty?? Their morality? I mean is that even legal to call that a sunae and be void of sauce whatsoever?? :confused3

It is definitely not legal. It's a violation! An abomination to be specific! I should've went on sundae strike right then and there.

Gosh!! I have no idea where that is!! MK in Lib Square??

Not a clue.

Close, but no cigar

LOL at the "sundae!" Atleast it is cute. :cutie:

Okay it was cute. I'll give it that.

When we stayed at the BCV a couple years ago we got some ice cream from Beaches and Cream. We were by the pool and all of a sudden heard these sirens going off. Someone inside ordered the Kitchen Sink. :scared1: I don't know how anybody can eat that.

There was a family of about 5 or 6 people who ordered it while we were there. Bubba has ordered it with a bunch of her friends before too. It's sickening to see how much ice cream they bring out in that thing. But more reasonable when it's spread out amongst several people. The attention it gets is pretty funny too

Oh no! That is a small sundae! :rotfl:

Sorry you were disappointed!

I have been there twice and we have gotten the Milky Way and the Banana Split so hopefully next time you try beaches and cream you won't be disappointed!

Next time, I'm trying the Milky Way or the No Way Jose. At this point, anything would be better than what I got!

Jenbear, that was an amazingly small sundae! I kept looking at it trying to figure out if those were oversized oreos. If they're normal-sized, that is an unbelievably small sundae. (And I think that's the case.) :rotfl2:

Nope. Those were regular oreos. Not even the Double Stuff ones! An abomination I tell you!!!!

That cherry sprite looks really good to me for some reason.

It was pretty good. I think there were other flavours too

I have no idea where that picture is from. (I did know the China ceiling one, but never got around to posting.) The "guess this picture" is a good idea for a trip report teaser.

Just trying to keep everyone awake. Want to make sure we're paying attention. You're not even going to take a guess?

You picked a good one bud.

Thanks Glen :goodvibes

I just found your report. I am a little late but joining in anyway.

Better late then never! :welcome: Glad to have you.

I love your pick a pearl pictures and the setting you chose is exactly how I want mine to look. I will be there in May and am really looking foward to this. Oh boy. Yes, those 5 year olds can be hard to please at times. Hope she appreciates the pearl if you do end up getting her one! The whole experience is worth it though.

Anyway love your pictures. Beaches and Cream looks yummy. They call that a sundae?

:lmao: It's laughable isn't it?

That sundae does look disappointingly small! It looks like one of the kid's desserts at friendly's. Thanks for the advice regarding what to order. Noted!

They should've had this thing nailed to a children's menu. Do I look like I'm on a diet? NO! Sorry, I have a lot of rage for this sundae fiasco  I'm glad my advice helped. I wouldn't want another unsuspecting ice cream goer be disappointed.

Oh...and the picture....I am guessing it is a chair outside of the Plaza restaurant or maybe Casey's.

You're very close! It's in the area....
