The End is... NOWHERE in sight! - Sept/Oct 2016 PTR *Update 9/14*

THERE HAS BEEN A NEW DEVELOPMENT!!!

In my endless vacation research, I happened upon the DCL website and began dabbling around there. Then an idea popped in my head... We're planning to go to Disney on a Wednesday, I wonder if there are any 3-4 day cruises that we could go on BEFORE we head to Disney??

So I did some searches.. the only cruise that would work in our timeframe is a 4-day Bahamian Cruise that departed on Monday, Sept 26 and came back on Friday Sept 30. Which was perfect!!

$785.00 per person?!?!

Well thats not going to work... Theres no way we can afford to tack on an additional $1600+ to our vacation budget. SO I decided to do a little more research and found another 4-day Bahamian cruise with Carnival that leaves on Sunday Sept 25 and comes back on Thursday Sept 29.. for $229 per person!!

I know, I know.. Carnival isn't on the same level as the DCL, but the fact that this is just an add-on to an already 10-day vacation to Disney I think it would still be a great experience. I still have some work to do on DH, hes not completely sold on the idea yet, and isn't so sure about spending the extra money.. or the few extra days of work missed.. BUT thats the beauty of starting your planning so early, LOTS of time to work things out! :)

Two week vacation! Woot woot!

We've looked at Alaskan cruises but always too expensive. And I have a passion for watching things attached to my worst nightmares... Like Twister and Poseidon and Titanic and Titanic II... So I've kinda freaked myself out about big ships like that haha!

Yeah, those Alaskan cruises are killer, but I'm sure completely worth the money if you can afford it! Same goes for the Mediterranean cruise I'll probably never get to take :rotfl2:

My fears are more along the lines of Jaws.. which if we end up in a Titanic like situation could turn into a jaws-like situation :fish:

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: sounds awesome if you can get DH on board. I keep saying one of these days we will do a cruise and we still haven't done it. Do it!!!

I reeeeeally hope we can work it out! Everyone I know that went on their first cruise was HOOKED afterwards.

Hello everyone following along!

Hi back atcha.

So, here it is!

Looks like you're good to go!
I'm impressed that you've actually scheduled breaks.
Kinda hard not to just keep filling all the time with touring..... and then burning out.

I also had a good day at Hot Topic!

DD14s favourite store. Too bad (hmmm.... maybe it's a good thing... for my wallet) there aren't any around here.

I learned my lesson on our honeymoon trip. I made a full day of plans from RD to a very late dinner at Coral Reef.. My husband was VERY grumpy and he refuses to wear sunglasses so he got a headache as well. Now I know its better for everyone if we plan a mid-day break to rest/swim/shower. We're also able to get alot more done in the parks in the evening with a nice little rest before hand.

:welcome:to the party! Adulting is no fun sometimes, but alas priorities need to be met before Disney :( I know how you feel, we are planning on buying a home in 2017 so we probably ownt be going on another Disney trip for some time after that :worried:

Lol, thanks for that, I now try to use the word 'adulting' whenever I can, lol. You are doing it the right way, trip BEFORE getting the house. The fiance hasn't actually agreed to going to 2017, after buying the house, I'm just kinda counting on it. But I know there will be that 'We just bought a house we can't go away'. To which I may have to threaten to burn the house down at that point, but I'm working on growing his medium-ish love/like of Disney so hopefully he will just be on board. Its a game now whenever I talk about the trip he just says "But I haven't said yes yet" and I give him a look. lol. He knows as soon as he says yes I will be yelling "No take backs!!!!"

This was actually talked about quite extensively. Not only staying onsite at Universal, but Cabana Bay specifically. The resort does look awesome, and wonderfully themed. In the end we decided to stay the whole time at a Disney resort because:
1. We like having the ME to and from the airport
2. In September/October Universal closes fairly early, some nights only staying open until 7pm. We thought that if we stayed at Disney then we could possibly hit up some Disney parks at night after UOR.
3. Since we will hopefully get Free Dining for our trip, the plan on our universal days is to to eat breakfast at our hotel before we go, buy lunch at Universal, then use some dining credits once were back on Disney property at night for dinner. If we stayed at Universal we would have to pay OOP for all of our meals for those 3 days.

.

Hmmmm.... that is a good point on the Free Disney Dining plan! And it is nice having the ME!! Does that mean you will be cabbing it to UOR for those three days or using one of those shuttles you can buy tickets for? Although, I guess lots of time to figure that out and explore options!

Ooooooh!! Cruise! That would be so much fun! And lots of time to plan and figure it out...and let the DH warm up to the idea!! Muahahahahahahah!

WE'RE BOOKED!!!

It may change in the future.. but for the time being we are officially booked at Caribbean Beach Resort for September 28 - October 8, 2016!!

So this was me after I booked my reservation yesterday ..

I was suprised by the price increase, meaning it wasn't quite as high as I factored it in to be. Disney World is still ridiculously expensive, but less so than originally planned :)

I also re-did my spreadsheet, which can be expected to happen atleast another 8 times before September.

Right now our tentative ADR list consists of:
Ohana
Raglan Road
Tony's Towne Square
Via Napoli
Sci-Fi Diner
Rainforest Cafe
Hoop De Doo Revue
Coral Reef

and since we will be down there for our anniversary, we've chosen to have a special dinner to celebrate at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. This will be paid for OOP, so that leaves us with one TS dining credit to use. I'm not quite sure where else to go, but I'm thinking some sort of farewell lunch somewhere in Magic Kingdom or one of the surrounding hotels before we leave.

Now on a less than stellar note, we've decided that we can't do the cruise. The cruise tickets, with taxes and port fees come to over $650 alone, then add in the drink package (because we NEED a drink package) were looking at over $1100 added onto our budget. So, we decided to hold off on a cruise, maybe try and do one the following year if its possible.

So, I spent a good portion of yesterday making custom Magic Band Decals for my husband, sister, and her boyfriend. I think the design came out pretty good, now I just hope they come out clear when they are printed. I'm going to wait to see how these ones turn out, then possibly make my brother, SiL, and myself one. It was fun, and frustrating at the same time making them lol

Well, thats all I've got right now. Have a great day everyone! :flower1:

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: for the trip being booked! How exciting. We'll actually be living in Florida by then. So maybe we'll see you on a day trip or something.

I think that is a huge part of the reason that we've never gone and done the cruise...the price! I would much rather go to Disney for my money. If you are looking for a place for a last meal at the MK, DH and I always go to the Plaza for our last meal...it's become a tradition. It's a nice change of pace after all the heavier meals we've eaten during the trip.

You wore diapers?
Well I guess you could be so excited that you pooped your pants...
So it makes sense.

Not a bad list!
I want to try the ones you have that I haven't been to.

Ouch. Yeah, I'd be putting it on the backburner too.

I can't believe you're planning a trip for that many people. I applaud your courage :worship:. You should definitely do Hoop-de-Doo - the cheesy shows are extra fun with a big group :). Congrats on your booking!

I haven't been to Raglan Road, but Via Napoli has EXCELLENT pizza.. my favorite is the proscuitto and melon! Hoop De Doo is SO MUCH FUN! The free beer and Sangria surely help that as well :) Last time we went it was just DH and I, so we cant wait to see how much fun we have with a large group!

Lol, thank you! I love Hoop De Doo, and with this large hoot'n and holler'n group I think we will have a great time!

Wooooo!!! Oh the magic of being booked! Very exciting!

Bummer on the cruise, but maybe you can talk the hubs into doing a special tour or staying an extra day on your own to make up for it and it'll still be cheaper. ::yes:: Or so that's how my logic works! lol

Hmmm.. I'm thinking you need to share pics of your MB decals!! :goodvibes
