The End For Backlot Tours?

Unfortunately, there's not much backlot left to tour. They need to either build a new backlot, with some streets and facades, and update/replace the standing set (catastrophe canyon) or remove the attraction, IMO. If they rebuilt it, they could include a really nice Pixar themed section on the tram route, and I would really hate to see them NOT utilize the studio tour aspect the backlot would provide.

Agree 100%.. I worked Backlot on my end College Program in 1999... I was starting to disappear then... you didn't have much being filmed on Property anymore, etc. but there was STILL a lot of other stuff on it... I ride it now and Can't believe how bad it is now. It needs to GO, or be completely redone... Since DHS is no longer billed as a working studio but a celebration of Hollywood and movies, there isn't a point. Why invite the comparisons to US superior tour... instead, add a new E -ticket ride or something else.

Although just another rumor, there was talk a while back about putting some sort of Journey To The Center Of The Earth ride in place of the Catastrophe Canyon. Yea, that CC thing is getting old.....they do need a change back there.

Isn't Journey a Warner Brothers films... or being put out in US theatres BY WB?

It's a New Line picture, which means WB has the lead and US distribution. IMDB indicates Disney has a 'hand' in it in some way as they are listed under company credits.

Disney could easily buy the rights for a themepark ride (American Idol for example) if it was central to their plans .. for that matter, who knows.. because of the relationship with Walden Media they may already have ROFR for attractions based on all Walden properties with some parameters for pricing already established.

Hmm... I did not know that...

That being said, there HAVE to be better disney properties they could retrofit Backlot tour too... National Treasure brand, Pirates ban, Wall-E or Monsters Inc or Incredibles (My pick would be Wall E or Incredibles)

I remember when I was little, I would be so excited to ride the Backlot Tour to see Alice's house (remember when Alice was on the Disney Channel, and she went through her mirror to Wonderland?).

I thought I was the only one who remembered that! My grandmother thought I was crazy because I said "OHMYGOSH! IT'S ALICE'S HOUSE!" :rotfl: I miss old-school Disney World & Disney Channel :(
