The Empty Nesters Magical Mystery Tour *1/28* Link to New Girl's TR p141

Too funny about the room. I would've done the same thing - freaked out that they somehow had my side of the lock-off. Oy vey!

Hi Mary Ellen! I'm obviously very late, and incredibly far behind, but I'm working to get caught up! Loving it so far (I'm on your arrival day :rotfl2:)

Thank you for saying that because I was wondering if anyone else would have thought the same thing. I'm glad to know I am not alone and I'm glad to know that the Disney CM's know how to handle that type of check-in. :thumbsup2 It really was an amazing view. I was so thrilled!

Yep, I'm definitely bad at jumping to conclusions and thinking the worst of situations. I should probably work on that! :lmao:

Yayayayay! :cool1: When are you guys heading back? Do you have another F&W trip in the works?

As much as I wanted to do F&W again this year, we wanted a break from the humidity (even though it was no where NEAR as bad as going in the Summer) but DS and DM get overheated quickly, so we though a NY's trip would be perfect. We're going January 2-9, 2015! I'm in a hurry to finish up my current TR so I can get started on this next trip :dance3:

Whew, I'm glad the room situated turned out to be fine. How awkward would that have been to try and figure out? To basically have to kick someone out if your room.:crazy2:

AKL has more savannah views than standard, so the odds of being upgraded are pretty good.
Your room view looks stunning. I can't wait wait to see it he animals that popped up.

Ooh, a Via Napoli dinner. My favorite. And it looks like it was an absolutely gorgeous night. Epcot at its best. :goodvibes
Sometimes, putting the camera away and simply watching the nighttime shows is nice. It's nearly impossible not to take a few, though. :rotfl2:

I'm glad you had such a lovely lunch and a moment of forgetting about work...or at least letting it go a little.

We were probably still about 45 minutes outside of the bubble when I got a text that they were there and already checked in. I had reserved a 2BR lock-off.

And here’s were things got weird.

My friend, P. texted me to say how lovely the room was and there was definitely a view of the savannah. Then she texted, “But where are YOU sleeping?”

OMG. What? What did she mean by that?

You see, in my vision of the check-in process I figured that she and her DH entered through the 1BR part of the villa. So after her comment I logically assumed that she and her DH must have gone straight into the master bedroom and got settled there.

I sort of lost it here…or panicked…or both. What the heck just happened?

So I did what any logical…er, I mean illogical person would do. I texted the one person who would understand my dilemma. The one and only Cynthia. I explained the situation and said, “what should I do?”

She said, “You have to tell her to move?”

I felt SO bad, you were so stressed out! And most definitely convinced they were in the master.

OMG - How was I going to do THAT? She told me how great the room was and that they were all settled in.

So finally, FINALLY I calmed down and called her.

And said, “I think you are in the wrong room”.

She said “no I’m not”.

OMG!

So I said, “describe your room to me?”

Well, as it turns out the CM’s at Disney are way smarter than I gave them credit for.

The DID check her into the studio so I’m not even sure if she walked into the 1 BR portion of the villa yet. I just assumed the opposite.

I don't think the CM's deserve an iota of credit. I think you got really lucky, Honestly. I am not being mean here but they'd have no way of knowing who was sleeping where. When we checked in for our NYE trip they wrote the studio room number down for our lockoff. Not the 1B. But all our bands worked on both doors. Maybe that's the default but I really don't think it was a CM actually considering that they had the studio and you the master.

Either way, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad it worked out and was a false alarm! I don't think it was stupid at all, I think we all would have thought the exact same thing in that scenario.

I present to you our STANDARD view villa

How gorgeous is THAT?

SCORE!!!!!!

The view to our right.

I really really hope that is the standard view we get in September! I'll be ok with a pool view but oh I'd much rather have that!

Yes, you should move there. ::yes:: As much as I like having four seasons here in Tennessee, with the exception of the fact that I'd like winter to last only two weeks at Christmas time and then move right on into spring, I could go back to Florida life. That is, if I could take my whole family with me.

:rotfl2: I agree with you on that - 2 weeks of winter for Christmas - that'll work! If only!!!!

Did you live in Florida before? I agree that spending more and more time in Florida would be such a wonderful thing. :thumbsup2

It was a great view. I was SO pleased. It really exceeded my expectations.

Such a beautifully painted sky.

It was a gorgeous day and night! Seriously, the weather for most of my trip was absolutely perfect. Loved it! :goodvibes

They look delicious!

The weird thing is I didn't think they were all that great. The look so amazing and yet I have no recall of what they actually tasted like. :faint:

You must be getting ready to leave really soon! HAVE A GREAT TRIP! I am so excited that your do-over is right around the corner. You really deserve it! :cool1:

MEK, your view at lunch is stunning. Do you remember where you ate? The place looks vaguely familiar.

I really don't. I just know it was a marina and it was obviously a place that K & T visit. And I have NO idea what I ate. How bad is THAT? :confused3 I totally flunked DIS 101!

I would have assumed the same thing you did with the room. I'm glad it all worked out.

I'm glad you would have thought the same thing. That makes me feel a lot better. I felt so stupid after learning that she was in the correct room all along. Stupid, but relieved! :rotfl2:

What a great view!

The view was so awesome. I was absolutely thrilled!!!!! :cool1: It seriously could not have been any better!

I'm glad you got to Epcot and were able to get some photopass pics on the way in and the way out.

We were going to miss Epcot. We had just been out of the bubble for more than two days. It was time to get back to our happy place. ::yes::

Sometimes it is nice to just put the camera away and enjoy. And you did survive. :)

I obviously did, although I have no recollection of the event and that IS sad. :sad2:

Would love to do replies but for reasons I can't reveal I will probably need to start them tomorrow.

;)

Mysterious.... :)

I can only imagine the stress of not knowing exactly which room was which. I agree with Cynthia, I think you got lucky .....or had a brilliant CM. :scratchin

Your EPCOT sunset pictures are gorgeous, and the Zeppoles at Via were my favorite if they come out hot- lukewarm and they are eh but they are not there anymore!!!!! :sad1:

I am glad you got a standard savannah room. And so glad everything worked out in the end roomwise.

MEK! What an amazing side trip!! :lovestruc

It was a truly perfect room! I can't imagine a real savannah room being any better. I am now officially spoiled for life!

All those beautiful pictures of the hotel and the beaches. It must have been a lot of fun but also strange to leave the bubble. I've been to FL a few times now since 2007 and can honestly say I don't have a feel for the state. All due to the fact most of it has been spent in WDW.

We try to leave the bubble a little bit every trip. It's hard, but I think its good. We want to be snowbirds after we retire, so its important that we get around to see where we want to "live" during our snowbird months. St Augustine is clearly very high on the list! :thumbsup2

I did come to FL one year with a bunch of gals from my church, there were 9 of us, but I still didn't get to see much of the state, it was rainy almost the whole time. I didn't like it much when I was there at that time of the year. :sad2:

What time of year was that? It sound pretty horrible. I can't imagine having rain for almost the entire trip. Uck! I've been really lucky with me trips. I really encounter bad weather, except when flying. I've had plenty of flight delays. :crazy2:

The pool in that museum was actually kind of creepy to me, it looked like it had all those tunnel looking like areas, I would have been creeped out the entire time I was swimming.

It looks TOTALLY creepy! I agree. I used to have dreams about going to an indoor pool that was dark and murky. Those dreams always creeped me out because I'm afraid of drowning. There is no way I could have swum into a tunnel. No a chance. :rotfl:

The lunch you had at the place you can't remember the name of, looked amazing. :cloud9: I would have been in heaven. I love going to eat at places where the menu doesn't all look the same as every other chain restaurant everyone goes to.

It definitely wasn't a chain restaurant. I would much rather go to an independent restaurant versus a chain. I just think its more interesting. It's an adventure.

Loooving the PP pictures of y'all at DHS. You really did look like y'all were having a great time. :) Especially PapaDon!! :rotfl: But then he always looks like he's having a great time. ::yes::

Popadon is a HOOT! I loved getting to meet him and the entire family. He is totally a celebrity here in the DIS world and he's loving it! We all had a blast that day. It was a ton of fun!

:rotfl: Haha - It seriously wasn't anything that exciting. Let's just say I was doing something where I really wasn't supposed to be on the computer. On top of that, the computer was not posting correctly. :faint:

Oooohhhh, intrigue!

Oh yes - that's me. Just full of intrigue. NOT! See above for a crappy explanation.

Why not??? :confused3 :lmao:

I don't know. Maybe because I had been drinking every day straight for 8 days. :rotfl2:

No... this room is totally awesome and they can't get me out of here with a stick of dynamite.

What you describe is my worse case scenario. That's what I thought was happening. :faint:

But if that's what you'd expected then they probably would have done exactly what you feared to begin with. :rotfl2:

:faint: I think there's logic in there somewhere. I'm not entirely sure. :confused3

If only you could be guaranteed that standard view. :thumbsup2

I know, right? How totally AWESOME was that view????? I absolutely loved it. So perfect in so many ways and exactly how many points cheaper? :rolleyes2

I didn't guess, but it doesn't matter. You made the right choice and I'm starting to get very hungry.

Via is awesome, isn't it? I just love it there. So YUMMY! :cool1:

I'm sure they'll incorporate a troll into that ride if the change happens. There are trolls in the movie... they just might not look exactly like what's already there.

You're probably right. So I guess I have another chance to get that troll. Yayayyayayay!

Sometimes you just have to enjoy the moment. :thumbsup2

I totally enjoyed the moment. It was just what I needed! I'm still not entirely sure how I did it though. :scratching

You are correct about the people pen being the reason. A lot of the current standard view rooms were originally classified as a savannah view but when people complained they reclassified them. Let the people complain, I love the less points. Now if I could guarantee that as the view I would get a standard view every time. I believe the other standards have a pool view, and that view wouldn't be bad either.

Honestly, I can't imagine why anyone would complain about those rooms. Seriously - those views are awesome. I had heard it was the pen, but you could barely see the pen for the top floor. I guess if I was on the bottom floor I might understand the complaint, but certainly not where I was.

Not so far behind this time! :cool1:

Yayayayay! :cool1:

Great that you got some pixiedust: with the villa at Jambo House! Too funny about the mix-up with the room. :rotfl2:

I absolutely was thrilled with that room. It was SO perfect. I guess it made up for that drama of being worried about my bedroom. :faint:

Looks like you got a lot done at Epcot. Always a great choice eating at Via! :cheer2: Sorry you didn't like the zeppole's.........one of my favorites! :goodvibes

We didn't get that much done, but we did manage to get back ingot he seeing of things. I had hoped to get back to Disney sooner, but obviously that didn't happen. But at least we got to ride TT and have an awesome dinner. :thumbsup2

That was a standard view?! Yowza! :cloud9:

Dinner looks delicious. Via is definitely on the list for next time.

Awesome pix Mary Ellen.. Wow your standard room is GREAT!!!!

We really scored big on the room view. I was thrilled! :thumbsup2 It really couldn't have been any better.

Grat pix of Maelstrom !!! Marv keeps saying there is a hidden Mickey in that mural, but I can't find it !!!!

My Maelstrom pics need a little work. *sigh* And you're not alone in having no idea where the Hidden Mickey is. :scratching

Caught up again. The standard room view is so much nicer than the standard view I had. I got to see cars.

Oh brother. Cars? Boo! I knew that some of the DVC villas were reclassified savannah rooms, but I actually requested a pool view. This was so much better and really exceeded my expectations. I was thrilled!

Nice pics. I enjoyed Via Napoli the one time I ate there til the very end of my meal. They needed to pep the veal parm just a little better. My friend had a very good but large pizza for 1. I think she finished it, barely.

Those personal pizzas are really hard to finish, but they are SO good. I have eaten at Via several times, but I have had pizza every single time. Why mess with success? I'm kind of afraid to try something different. :rotfl:

Too funny about the room. I would've done the same thing - freaked out that they somehow had my side of the lock-off. Oy vey!

You know - it's good to hear that I am not alone in my freaking out reaction. I was sure they had my side of the lock-off and I totally didn't expect that to happen. Thank goodness it didn't. Can you say awkward?

:welcome: Shannon! Thanks so much for joining in! Happy to have your along for the read! :cool1:

Yep, I'm definitely bad at jumping to conclusions and thinking the worst of situations. I should probably work on that! :lmao:

Yeah - me too! Obviously! :rotfl2:

As much as I wanted to do F&W again this year, we wanted a break from the humidity (even though it was no where NEAR as bad as going in the Summer) but DS and DM get overheated quickly, so we though a NY's trip would be perfect. We're going January 2-9, 2015! I'm in a hurry to finish up my current TR so I can get started on this next trip :dance3:

OMG - you are SO from California if you think that was humid. :rotfl2: Well, actually you went EARLY in October so I suspect it might have been. Late October has been perfect two years in a row!

:woohoo: Yay for an early January trip! That sounds absolutely wonderful. I can't wait to hear all about your trip planning!

Whew, I'm glad the room situated turned out to be fine. How awkward would that have been to try and figure out? To basically have to kick someone out if your room.:crazy2:

I know, right? I was SO convinced that she was in the MBR. I just couldn't envision it any other way. I'm was so relieved it worked out!

AKL has more savannah views than standard, so the odds of being upgraded are pretty good.
Your room view looks stunning. I can't wait wait to see it he animals that popped up.

I guess that's true with the regular room inventory. This was DVC and I don't think upgrades ever happen. But fortunately some of the villas are reclassified savannah views. We were just lucky enough to get one and it was really perfect.

:rotfl2:

I love Via!!!!

It was a perfect even and, you're right, sometimes just watching is better than trying to take the perfect picture. It does surprise me that I didn't take any. Makes me wonder if my memory card got full.

I'm glad you had such a lovely lunch and a moment of forgetting about work...or at least letting it go a little.

Yup - I let it go. I had too. When I look back now it all seems so silly, but it sure didn't then!

I felt SO bad, you were so stressed out! And most definitely convinced they were in the master.

I was TOTALLY convinced they were in there. I just couldn't see it any other way. I am the first to admit that I totally overreacted. Thank you for talking me down. I really appreciate it!

I guess you are right. I thought maybe they looked at the owner's names versus the others name. I guess I gave them too much credit. Instead I will just chalk it up to major pixie dust. And the next time I don't arrive with my guests I will explain the situation better. That's for SURE!

Either way, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad it worked out and was a false alarm! I don't think it was stupid at all, I think we all would have thought the exact same thing in that scenario.

I'm glad I am not the only one who would have jumped to that conclusion. It makes me feels a little less stupid.

I really really hope that is the standard view we get in September! I'll be ok with a pool view but oh I'd much rather have that!

Didn't you have a similar view in your 1BR? That view was so perfect. It has totally spoiled me for the savannah view. Now I get it! :thumbsup2

Glad you got the room thing straightened out before you went crazy with worry!

That was an AWESOME view!!!
We love AKV and cannot stay there w/o savanna view. Just can't do it.

How many days was this trip again?

Mysterious.... :)

:rotfl2:

I can only imagine the stress of not knowing exactly which room was which. I agree with Cynthia, I think you got lucky .....or had a brilliant CM. :scratchin

Ugh - that was so stressful and sometimes I really feel like I over reacted to the whole situation, but after a week of vacation I was getting tired and I think that's what made my reaction worse.

Your EPCOT sunset pictures are gorgeous, and the Zeppoles at Via were my favorite if they come out hot- lukewarm and they are eh but they are not there anymore!!!!! :sad1:

They're not there anymore? Really? I did not know that.

It was a gorgeous night (and day). The weather was perfect.

I am glad you got a standard savannah room. And so glad everything worked out in the end roomwise.

It really did. That view was so worth any stress I had over where I would be sleeping that night!

That was a standard view?! Yowza! :cloud9:

Can you believe that view? Thank goodness for people who complained about the people pen and got that view reclassified. I totally don't see what the problem was, but it certainly worked in my advantage. :cool1:

Dinner looks delicious. Via is definitely on the list for next time.

And I didn't even have a picture of the yummy pizza we had. I have eaten at Via 4 times and the pizza is just perfect anytime!

Glad you got the room thing straightened out before you went crazy with worry!

I know, right? I was SO worried that they were in the MBR. I really do feel silly now for being so worried about it.

That was an AWESOME view!!!
We love AKV and cannot stay there w/o savanna view. Just can't do it.

And now I know why. Those animals really sucked me in. I just loved it. Just mesmerizing. I would probably book standard again if I needed to, but having the view was so, SO awesome!

How many days was this trip again?

Too many! :rotfl2:

No seriously, it was like day 8 of a 12 day trip. Honestly, it was just a little too long for me. I think I know now that a full week or 8 days is enough. I rather go more often for a week at a time. I learned that a WDW trip can definitely be exhausting for me and I am someone who needs a little bit more downtime.

Can you believe that view? Thank goodness for people who complained about the people pen and got that view reclassified. I totally don't see what the problem was, but it certainly worked in my advantage. :cool1:

And I didn't even have a picture of the yummy pizza we had. I have eaten at Via 4 times and the pizza is just perfect anytime!

Yah, I don't see anything wrong with the view. :thumbsup2 That's how I felt on the cruise too. The minor obstruction reclassified. Lucky for us and a big thanks to the complainers. ;)

I love pizza and that seems to be the one thing missing from our trips. Can't wait to try it.

:rotfl2: Those complainers really ARE doing us a favor, aren't they? Sometimes it must really pay to complain.

I love pizza and that seems to be the one thing missing from our trips. Can't wait to try it.

It is SO good! It's better than regular pizza. The crust is amazing and there are so many topic combinations to pick from. I LOVE it!
