The EMH Debate.

We typically only plan 1 EMH - rope drop at the MK. With a DH and DD that are pooped by about 9:30 at WDW (who can blame them?), evening EMH's are out. We have enough time druing an 8-day trip to see everything we want to with just that 1 MK early morning and regular days for the other parks (we do like to rest and swim midday and then hop, though).

:sunny:

For me:

If you don't have park hoppers, only go to AM EMH if you really want to go to any. If you don't then avoid any EMH parks and go to the park that had EMH the day before or will have one the next day. Do NOT go to PM EMH, the EMH itself shouldn't be too bad but the regular park hour time will be.

If you do have park hoppers,
For AM EMH: Go to the EMH park in the AM and stay only until midday between 11-1. Take a break then go to the park the either has EMH PM or the park that just had EMH or will have it the following day.
For PM EMH: Go to the park that just had EMH or will have it the next day during the day time the hop over later to the park that has EMH.

Ohhh one more thing! We did the last two safaris and the animals were out like MAD. They were getting really close which we found out from our backstage safari was because they wanted to be let in their night pens. It was nuts because the male lion was out pacing looking like he was getting ready to roar! Soooo recommend evening EMH at AK!

I don't think I have ever seen that lion do anything but sleep on that rock. AMAZING.

I was there that same week for AK Night EMH. We did the KS around 6:15. The Lions (3) were all up and moving and the White Rhino was moving only about 35 yards away from our Jeep moving around which was about 100 yards too close for me. There was no ditch that I saw... the rhino looked like he could have walked right up to us. Evening time is the best.

The rhinos CAN walk up to the trucks.

It is not unusual for them to CHARGE the trucks, but they
do not usually make contact.
They either stop short or veer off before hitting the truck.

My family and I always try to visit the parks when they have Morning Extra Magic Hour, because we can get a good start on the popular attractions and get the better return times for Fast Passes if we want to go on something for a 2nd time.

Well, we stay offsite - so it's definitely important to avoid parks with AM EMH cause they're gonna be packed by the time we're allowed in! ;)

I have been ponderthing this exact same issue for several days now. What I have decided is that for the first few mornings we will be up early anyway as being from England our body clock will still be 5 hours ahead so we will naturally be awake by 5am! So we intend to hit MK EMH and AK EMH if possible. Then we will do PM EMH, but we will make dinner reservations in the park for the evening, then after dinner enjoy the rides. Except for AK EMH then we will book our SDR for after the park closes for EMH at one of the AKL restaurants. We have hoppers so we will leave the park at lunch time anyway for a mid day break, then go back to the park. We have decided not to do an AM EMH if we previously did a PM EMH though.

I say....hit 'em early and hit 'em late! You can sleep or relax around the resort pool in the mid-day.

If you want a vacation to sleep in and relax, you're at the wrong vacation spot....next time, hit the beach resorts instead where there's nothing else to do but kill time!

We avoided them on our last trip as we had done them a few years before and found them to be incredibly busy all day. But when we did them a few years before, we were park commando types and spent pretty much full days in the park until we had done everything we wanted too so we did enjoy them! But for our trips last year, we wanted more relaxed, quieter park days and we def. got that by avoiding the EMH park days.
We did make use of the parks that had EMH in the PM tho!

I've never made a morning EMH or a rope drop...GASP!!!!! I'm just not a morning person and dragging myself out of bed to make it to a park that early just wouldn't be fun for me. I'd be a cranky mess by noon! :rotfl: So I sleep in a little and avoid the morning EMH park that day. I am usually at a park by 9:30or 10am. It works well for me. BUT I've never gone to WDW in August when it is hot and more crowded. IF I ever went in August, I'd probably figure out a way to make morning EMH's. The only thing worse than early mornings to me is humidity and big crowds.

This is why there is so much debate about EMH's. Most people will tell you morning EMH is the only way to go and I agree sometimes that is true, but you can get away with some sleeping in! Really! :teeth:
