The Seven Year Itch That Took Eight Years to Scratch

It had to be done. They had me at Free Dining.

Mind you, I would have been back ages ago. I probably could have convinced the Goose, too. He's pretty easy: just promise
adult beverages, fancy dinners, and Tower of Terror. He's there and willing to carry the park bag. But he will not wear a custom
t-shirt.

I sucked him in in August 2001. Actually, he was already sucked in. I had the engagement ring to prove it. However, Disney was doing
some sort of special for the opening of Animal Kingdom Lodge. I think I got a code.

Yeah, like that's happened again.

The code was sweet - 4 nights/5 days, hoppers with waterparks....no free dining, though. With the promise of free airfare from the Goose's
then-job at Delta Technology, it was an excellent deal. I remember the number well. $971.

And with that I sucked him in. Heh.

Now the Goose is not a man who appreciates heat. We refer to him as a bear. This man wears short sleeve polo shirts in January. Now, he had been
talked into going to Central Florida in mid-August. He really, really, really, did love me, Fairy Godmother!

We got up at 4am, got first class (oh how I miss flight bennies), arrived at 10am and were upgraded to a beautiful view of the Kudu trail. By noon I had him skipping
(well I was skipping....Gooses do not skip) down Main Street and lunching with those guys from the Hundred Acre Wood.

We did that day commando - rode BTMRR (Goose verdict: "That was pretty lame...uh I mean...tame"), got my blouse blown open on Space Mountain, ("Let's do it again!" says the Goose with a waggle of the eyebrow), were actually grateful for the Splash Mountain shower. We stayed on, doing night EMHs.....and finally fell into our beds at AKL after 2am.

And he was hooked. I hoped.

Fast forward over 7 years Oh, there were other attempts to go back. I even waved a Disney wedding video under his nose, asked nicely for a Disneymoon. We ended up with a beautiful beach wedding in South Carolina followed by a gorgeous week at an eco-resort in Mexico. I understood.....maybe a wedding was too much Disney. The cost was prohibitive. OK....hope springs eternal. Then there were vacations with our dear friends in Hilton Head, careers, a new house. Then there was a little burrito-ed munchkin person who arrived after a scary, scary pregnancy.

Before we knew it, there was another little person who had no qualms about announcing her needs loudly....frequently.

Oh, there were other, furitive attempts to go back. Cancelled bookings at AKL, VWL.....people asking me "Who are you going for?", "You're pregnant, are you insane?". Wistful visits to the DIS and allears.....never to come to fruition. But I kept waiting, planning, biding my time. The Goose knew and agreed the time would come. I had 2 little tabla rosas ready to be imprinted with Disney love.

And then we saw it. Free dining. August and September. The Goose looked resigned but said "Not in August. That was hot. Africa hot."

So, with 115ish days, it's time to document the obsession. Here are the details:

Goose and Toonie's Eight Year Itch Trip. With Goslings!
September 26 - October 3
Coronado Springs Resort.

Cast:
Me, Jenn, your lead actress. Or comic relief. A 39 y/o SAHM, occasional actress, chef/restauranteur wannabe, daydreamer, obsessive planner, Eeyore fan and Mr. Incredible's side action. Easily distracted by pretty things.

Goose, Chris, your noble hero. A 38 y/o professional geek, theatre widdower, future furniture designer, purse-strings holder. Was known as Pooh throughout his school years due to an unfortunate arguement that included a Pooh (the bear, not the boy) flinging by his much older brothers when he was 5. Oddly, he is Elastagirl's side action.

The Burrito, Ben, your adorable boy genius with 'quirks'. Will be 4.1 y/o when he sets foot on Main Street. Ardent, obsessive, insistent 'Phineas and Ferb' fan. Wants to be Ferb because 'He can make lots of things' . Our miracle child. Intense, changeable, stubborn, and focused. Frightenly intelligent.

The Emster, Emmie, the ray of sunshine. Will be 2.2 y/o when she toddles off down Main Street. Fearless, funny, fairy fan. The most angry I've seen her is when Ben swiped her Tink doll. Ooooh....not pretty. Has a head of golden red curls and beautiful alabaster skin which I am really concerned for when it's exposed to Florida rays. We plan to dip her in a vat of Blue Iguana every morning.
