The Edison - Direct Reservation?

In doing my research for my early November trip, I saw on the Edison's website they offer reservations there as opposed to the ADR system via the Disney app. I had a couple of questions...

1. Is it better to book direct through the Edison?

1b. Am I naive and this is the only way to reserve there? vs. Normal ADR system/My Disney Experience 60 days out.​

1c. I tried to make a reservation now, despite being 200 some days out and the error I received was for being too small of a party to book. Does this mean they don't take ressies for 1?​

2. I am flying solo so what is the likelihood I could show up and get sat at the bar without a reservation etc...?
3. Why is everything so complicated and makes me overthink everything I want to do on a whim? LOL I was hoping a solo trip could exclude a ton of planning but there are a few places I really want to dine at.

The Edison also takes reservations via Open Table, as do many of the DS restaurants. Frequently, the ones that book via OT give fewer openings to Disney’s ADR system than to OT and their own systems. However, they also frequently adhere to Disney’s 60 day window and don’t open their bookings until then or maybe a little sooner than 60 days out, although that can vary by restaurant as well. So you may find it easier to reserve The Edison via their own website, although you may need to wait until a little closer to your dates.

We always book the Edison, Wine Bar George, Splitsville, Morimoto Asia, and others using Open Table. The reservations can be booked more than 60-days in advance and even inside that window are easier to get. In addition you generally don’t need to guarantee with a credit card.

In regards to the live music at The Edison, we‘ve been there a number of times in the evening and it’s always been there and very good as well.
