The "Dumbo or Die" Pre Trip report.. updated 9/5

We are getting so close to double digits!! I am ecstatic!! I have bought over 100 Disney pins on Ebay for the kids to trade with. I can not fork over the money we did AT Disney last year.. i think that was our biggest expense..Declan and his pin trading obsession..lol. So so far each kid will get 25 pins.. I am hoping to be able to get at least another 50-100 so Declan and Noah can go hog wild. They both collect so they run of of tradable ones fast..the wee ones just like to trade so they don't need as many kwim?

I am actually going to start getting our Disney box out and start tossing stuff in it. No one is getting whole new wardrobes like they did for last years trip though..LOL. Trying to decide if I want to buy special water bottles to bring or just stick with the free water at the parks.. prolly that one..less to drag with us.

Since we are not bringing a stroller for Taejan I also have to decide about if I am bringing a backpack in this time. We never once needed the clothes I had packed for the youngest..but I did use it for the DSLR on the days I brought it ( when it rained of course) and for the ponchos.. decisions decisions.. maybe a small crossover bag instead?

Also still deciding if we are going to go to MNSSHP.. I want to go..the kids want to go..I am having a hard time stomaching the price for 7 of us..

What a great plan with the pins off ebay!

As for the bag. We did not bring a stroller this last trip and I used a large over the shoulder bag. Dd does require that I bring items to the park (she has a medical condition) so even with all of her stuff... it was not hard to tote around all day. :goodvibes

I'm thinking a messenger bag.not big but not small either..

that's my dilemma.. we will all sleep in one room at AoA but I need 2 cus there are 5.. sigh..

Well, from a financial standpoint, it makes more sense to stay at POR because you'll only need to get one room.

From a this-place-is-brand-new-and-we're-getting-to-stay-here kind of standpoint, AoA is the only way to go LOL

Have you checked out the resort board? Some people are saying AoA isn't what they thought it would be as far as decor/rooms, that it is a little "loud". That might help you make your decision. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2928438

Although, I think you liked POP as much as we did, so AoA might be right up your alley!

ARGH! pirate: What a tough decision!

I vote for POR, but def. go over and check out AoA while you're there! That is a hard choice, but I would love either one.

We have def decided on POR.. makes most sense.. we plan to hop the boat to DtD then a bus to AoA and check it out while there. Staying at POR will make it easier to transition to POFQ also.

AoA has room for 5 people. It has a queen in the bedroom, then a double pull down from the wall bed, and sleeper sofa. Plus it has 2 bathrooms. Not sure if it would be cheaper then POR though.

thats a suite..I do not wait to pay for a suite..I'm more of a 2 rooms at a value than a suite kinda girl..lol

Our countdown board is so deceptive.. we have taken SOOO many squares off and so much is exposed but there is still so much to go. Of course I put 104 on it twice so that day will be exciting..LMAO

this is it today:

That is so cool....could you make me one and send it here????

:) :) :)

But really, it looks. Dry fun...I might have to try that this time!

I think I would pick POR. I think if you had more than just a bit over (like even 6) then maybe the second room at AoA would make more sense. Plus... my vote goes to POR cause you would get one of those very very cool murphy beds. :cloud9: I think I almost like the refurbed rooms at POR better than the rooms at AoA. Just my thoughts...

Also, I love how your countdown is starting to have the image really come into view!!! Very cool. :goodvibes

yeah that's my thing.. 2 rooms at AoA to meet the legality of it..but we'd all sleep in one ( dh, myself and the 3 littles all shared one room at POP while the other 3 in our party shared the other).. but at POR we wouldnt have a wasted room .. and yes I'd love to see the murphy beds!

We are down to 104 days..and guess what I just did..instead of a value ( 2 rooms) or POR..I booked the Boardwalk for our first night ( just the 5 of us). We ended up with a little extra money in the budget and we decided we want a nice relaxing chill day at a nice resort! I giddy!

Going all out this time!! :)

I have been following or stalking but this is my first post.

We are at pop again this year. We originally booked CBR. But everyone wanted the WP option again. My dh would rather pay OP for a couple of TS meals than have to go to one every day for 11 days. So to make everyone happy we went back to pop (big surprise). So everyone is happy now and my wallet is also. I think we are saving around 800.00 because we are sticking with the QSDP again.
