The Duggar's

Here is my opinion (i watch the show alot)...

It is their choice if they want to have that many kids and keep having them. I think their children do love their lives. They are very close and I hardly ever see them fight on tv. I think its really cute. And how could you not call them christians? do you watch the show...?
I don't tivo it if thats the question but I watch it when nothing else is on. it's always on . True Christians would make their life a freak show or seek publicity. I just think they are a bit corrupt behind closed doors and that there is something not right about them. They are close because their are 18 of them. I have not seen the kids with outside friends yet.
Really cute: Jon and Kate plus 8. THAT'S CUTE! Their children are normal and not zombies.

Also, the some of the most close minded, and un educated when it comes to the real world and acknowledging differences in us all. I feel sorry for them.

I agree. Their parents are fundamental Christians who have put them on display to make money. The house they have was given to them. They are constantly on TV.

I completely agree.

Anyone ever seen the movie "The Village"? The Duggars are exactly like the people in that movie.

I have only seen the show a few times.. There is just something off about this family. I could care less if they 50 kids; they can afford them I guess. I agree they are odd; the whole not kissing before their oldest was married was really strange. I mean fine if they want to remain virgins until their wedding night, but not even kissing? How do they know they are going to have physical chemistry to last a life time if they haven't ever kissed? :confused3

Just had a good laugh, the commercial airing just now was for Plan B. The "oops my birth control failed" morning after pill to take.

-----------------

I think parents today don't understand it because they have been raised in a different era - where large families are no longer the norm - so it seems foreign to them.. It's basically a return to the way families lived many years ago.. The majority of them grew up just fine - and I think the Duggar kids are a perfect example of how it "can" work today - if a family chooses that type of lifestyle..:goodvibes

I agree. :thumbsup2 This lifestyle has only seemed weird in the last 50 or so years. There are plenty of Mennonite families around here with very similar families.

Did they recently move? The last house I knew of them living in, they built themselves. They used it as a great opportunity for teaching their children and whenever they brought in a contractor, the parents would get him to teach the children a bit as well. :confused3

And now there are 3 threads on tonights show here. I'm getting confused about which one to post on :rotfl:

True but those poor kids will never be able to be kids. They are constantly babysitting I'm sure. Also they are home schooled so I wonder how well their social skills are with non family. I also wonders if any of them are Special Needs?

We are a homeschooling family, and our son's social skills are just fine with non-family. Homeschooled kids are not anti-social, agoraphobic hermits who only emerge from home when necessary. Our son is involved in all kinds of extra-curricular activities, has friends, and is part of a very large group of homeschooled kids in our city. Please don't judge a child because he is homeschooled.

I can't understand this family, the mother mainly. Is she on something? She seems so flaky. And I love the pop ups that tell you little facts like she has been pg for 13 years and in labor for 2 weeks. 18 kids? OMG :scared: I have a problem with them calling themselves Christian. They really aren't that Christian if they are putting their lives on TV in this manner.

judge much? or are you just such an expert on christianity that you are able to sort out real christians from those that "arent that christian?"

well said.

Oh yay! Another "bash the Duggars" thread. Funny how peopple on the DIS talk about judging others to be wrong, yet they sure let loose on this family!

I have one child so their lifestyle is definitely not for me. I am homeschooling for the first year ever and I must say, unless you have tried it, you certainly do not know much about it. Where Michelle Duggar gets all her time, energy and organization from, I sure don't know. She seems to have the patience of Job! I can tell you right now, I wouldn't want a TV camera following me around for even one day! LOL

We were just watcing the "wedding" episode. It was a bit odd. Some of the things the father of the bride said were a little out there.

::yes:: How right you are.

I'm not bashing them. I just find that family weird and out-there. But if they want to live like that, whatever. More power to them.

I just really find it crazy that they don't let those kids watch TV yet they pretty much exploit them on TV. THAT is what really is crazy.:sad2:

If I were Michelle Duggar's lady bits, I'd go on strike.

The woman must have a uterus of steel. :scared:

*shudder*

:rotfl2: I know he's a pig, but ever time I hear the Duggars mentioned, I think of Andrew Dice Clays' stand up.

Wow...this shows that you don't really watch the show. Truthfully, their cousin Amy, who they are VERY close to, is about as opposite of them as you could imagine. She openly admits to kissing boys and not having the same lifestyle as her cousins. They all know that they are the minority in their beliefs and lifestyle. I've never heard them say bad things about people who live differently.

My mother had never head of this family, and had never seen the show. So when she saw we were watching it on tv she asked us about it. We told her how many kids Michelle had given birth to, she kept asking how many sets of multiples. She could not see someone gettng pregnant that many times.

:crazy2: No thanks.

I saw a pic on a previous Duggar thread a pic of the oldest son (Josh) and his bride. The poor girl looked to be maybe 18.... maybe older, but somehow I'm doubting it..... geez.:sad2:

My in-laws married when she was 18, my BIL married at 19 & one of my FILs sisters married at 15 or 16. All 3 marriages are/were very happy (one spouse is deceased). DH & I married at a relatively young age as well.
Youth does not always guarantee a failed marriage. I'd say, with the support of their families they will have, they will stand a greater shot of 'making it' than your average couple that marries that young.

It's obvious you really know nothing about them by your posts, and that's all I'm saying. This is just another vicious Duggar/Christian bashing thread. What else is new.:sad2:
