Sailing on the Dream soon. Did you feel the ship rocking more than usual? My partner is prone to motion sickness and getting anxious about being that far forward.

We were in room 12008 for our March 2020 Dream cruise. I had quite the struggle with seasickness but then again we had some really rough seas. I remember the hangers in our closet were really noisy as we were tossed around.

It also could have been because I was in the beginning stages of a Leukemia diagnosis and was overall out of whack.

Fortunately Bonine did the trick....except for the last night when I stupidly packed it in our luggage and put it out for pick up.

I would go on Amazon and buy MQ motion sickness patches. Also, I would check to see if their is reliefband 1.5 might be out of stock. The combination of these two should help alleviate motion sickness to an extent. I have severe more sickness especially on rollercoasters and boats.

I get motion sickness, even when I take Bonine and wear seabands. On our last 2 cruises I used ginger candy and I never felt ill. We even sailed through rough seas with the ship rocking really hard and I was fine. I still used the Bonine, but felt like the addition of ginger candy really helped.

We were in room 12000 and on the way back it was rough (going back and forth) had to move the hangers because they were sliding. I had a patch on and did not feel sick at all during the trip except feeling a little queasy in Animators Palette one night.

Tried Bonine non drowsy, didn’t work at all, reliefband 1.5 seemed to work better. I haven’t tried the patch (prescription). However, I just recently purchased mq motion sickness patches on Amazon and tried them for car sickness and seem to work, granted not the same as being on the water. I haven’t tried ginger. But Bonine, either not strong enough or I’m too sensitive to motion or both.

The movement in different areas of the ship is negligible. You would have to hit some serious waves to tell any difference. Has your partner been a cruise ship before? I find that the motion is completely different from something like a car ride or a roller coaster. My oldest gets extremely motion sick in cars but has no issues on the ship.

I’m the same - cars are awful for me but I’m fine on the ship.

We were on the dream in concierge and it was a semi rough trip overall. We were unable to stop at cc. I take bonine daily and had no issues at all.

I start with the medication of choice the night before boarding. That way it is well into your system, then I take another dose a couple of hours before the ship departs. After that, I usually go down to the health center on board where they have a bowl of free motion sickness pills available, and stock up for me and our traveling party for the rest of the cruise.

Motion illness is an unavoidable part of cruising for some, but prepare mentally, and go with the tide and enjoy the ride!

Forward rooms do get the most motion because of the way the ship pivots up and down--picture a seesaw--the ends move up and down a lot more than the middle. We had a far forward room on the dream and I did say "never again." Seasickness was super rough and it got noticeably MUCH better just walking toward the middle of the ship. I agree seasickness medication does help a lot, but I definitely did not sleep much that cruise.

I think if we ever do splurge on concierge, it will be on the Wonder or Magic where the concierge rooms are midship. On the dream, if I booked it, it would for sure be the farthest one I could get from the front of the ship (still pretty forward, but every little bit helps).

r.e. bold Nothing wrong with preventative motion sickness action. We've twice Dream Concierge with some rolling seas both times and felt the wave actions as we did on Oasis. Just be prepared and enjoy the best you can.
